  1. Hi Loyal, yes this would be all schools including Academies. Hi Skegness, schools are not obliged to release their results until they are officially published in January. The results being released now are preliminary and could change slightly due to papers being remarked. Renata
  2. Dear all, sorry, I've been away, I contacted Barrie too and have heard back from council officers about this. The temporary rerouting of the 63 is totally within TFLs remit rather than the council's. The council has been informed that TFL did investigate the different options. I am happy to meet up with residents to talk to them about the issues. As the works are due to start tomorrow, I won't be able to meet up with residents before they start. Renata
  3. Bibimax, this is because these results have come via the Newshopper group of local papers that covers the list of Boroughs you mention but not Southwark. Renata
  4. Sacred Heart, Camberwell 89% St Thomas the Apostle, Nunhead, 68% Walworth Academy 60% (from their websites, the others I've checked haven't posted yet. Harris Boy's only has up to year 10) Renata
  5. Hi Oimissus, there is no list for primary school open days as unlike secondary schools, not all primaries have them and they are often organised by primary schools at relatively short notice. IT's worth checking on here, particularly in late Autumn (typical time for open days is November, but some eg Goose Green have regular ones) as I post any I become aware of on here as do parents/ptas etc. Renata
  6. Thanks for posting on here, with very helpful information for prospective parents. I have copied and pasted your message on the Peckham section of the South east central forum as there may be people reading that who don't look at the East Dulwich forum. Jenny, I have pmed you. Renata
  7. Hi Kasia, if you haven't contacted the SNT please pm me the details and I will pass them on to the SNT. This is very worrying to hear. Renata
  8. Hi James, as you know the funding is allocated annually. The Ivydale expansion is not happening this year. The bulge was funded from this pot of money. Like you I know the ward breakdown of where people who were allocated places live. I am looking more specifically and not necessarily in my own ward, hence why I am asking residents to contact me. It is currently school holidays, further discussions over Ivydale expansions will be occurring in the Autumn, once school holidays are over. I will post updates on here for interested residents. The Bellenden submission is likely to occur in January. Renata
  9. Hi all, just to say, contrary to what James has stated above, the 12.5million allocated to Southwark to address our current need for additional primary places will not be used for the Ivydale expansion. These funds are for the bulges and expansions that are currently happening eg expansions of Bessemer Grange and Langbourned. Additional funds will be sought for Ivydale. Thank you to all of you who have sent me a pm detailing your primary application. If you didn't get one of your original choices and were allocated a school, please pm me with the details of where you live and where you have applied. I am putting together this information for next year. thanks Renata
  10. Hi all, The head of Dulwich Hamlet, Sonia and Simon, the Chair of Governors have been in regular discussions with Council Officers over the use for primary education purposes of the Bellenden old school site. Everyone is working together to get this right. There are different options as to how the site is to be used, and to the route to be taken. Simon and Sonya have just this week had a meeting at the Department of Education and there are many discussions going on in the background. It is currently, however, school holidays and schools have minimal staff on site and therefore it may not be the best option for prospective parents to be emailing the school at the moment. There will be a meeting for prospective parents in the Autumn, once school holidays are over. There will then be forms of interest for prospective parents to fill out with contact details. On another note, the site is not in Dulwich, it is in the Lane Ward! Renata
  11. Hi Kitwe (and others on this thread). I'm one of the Peckham Rye Councillors and so the Park is within my ward. What I am aware of that currently a small group of parents home educating their children have hired the use of the adventure playground site during daytimes during term-time on a term-by-term basis (as an "outdoor space" to enhance their children's education). To my knowledge there is not a school as such on the site and I don't personally think this is a suitable site for a stand alone school. There is one room (used for table tennis etc) with kitchenette and limited toilet facilities. I am not aware of any agreement with Southwark for this site to use as a school and eg it would require registration with Ofsted. Maybe you are seeking a few more home educating parents to expand your group to share the rent etc, but I think it would be difficult to use this site as the base for a school(even with the Forest, outdoor ethos). There was raised on this forum a couple of months ago that a building, previously used by a private school in the ED area was available. If still available, this may be more suitable for your needs. Renata
  12. Oimissus, information on admission numbers for 2014 entry will come out towards the end of the year. Renata
  13. It will be a primary rather than juniors. Renata
  14. Hi Oimissus, this is provisionally scheduled for Sept 2015. It is being set by Dulwich Hamlet Juniors in partnership with Southwark. Renata
  15. Hi James, thank you for your offer of assistance. The process is in the very capable and skilled hands of Council Officers, the Cabinet Member, the School Head and Governors. Hi Greenwater, it won't be me! I'm a Ward Councillor for Peckham Rye ward. The Councillor who will be most involved in the process is the Cabinet Member, Cllr Dora Dixon-Fyle. Renata
  16. Hi Gina, yes it is for next year and subsequently, I want to check if there are particular spots where people did apply to their 6 closest schools and didn't get any of them. I will be liaising with council officers over this. Renata
  17. That's fantastic news Loulou and Gina. Yes Abney, Fairlawn has had a late bulge, so it may be worth checking where you are now on their list. I want to investigate further those of you who initially didn't get any of your 6 choices (even if you have one now). Please could you email or pm me with: your child's name and dob your address the schools you put down in order of preference. Thanks Renata
  18. Hi Abney, if you have rejected the offered school and haven't been offered another one, Southwark would still be holding the place at the offered school. Places allocated after September will be allocated using the same admissions criteria as before. Please pm me where your younger child is at nursery, maybe it would be worth adding your older child's name to other schools' lists? Last time I checked, the two Southwark school's with the shortest waiting lists in the area were Hollydale in Nunhead (Ivydale bulged) and St Francesca Cabrini in Honor Oak Park (Fairlawn had a late bulge). Both these schools have been rated as good by Ofsted and I've heard unofficially that both have had good SATs results. Renata
  19. Hi Abney and Number 2, yes Number 2 you are correct. Sometimes people defer for a term if they are 1st or second on a waiting list and hope a place becomes available in September. Renata
  20. Hi Greenwater, you beat me to it! There seems to be a bit of confusion in the thread above. The plan is not for Bellenden primary school to expand onto the Bellenden Old school site, but for a new school on the Bellenden New Site, run by Dulwich Hamlet Junior (which is an oversubscribed, Ofsted rated outstanding school). Renata
  21. Hi nymon, was that at a Southwark primary? Oimissus, reception is not optional. Children must start school at the start of term after their fifth birthday, for summer birthday children, this means Easter. There are typically 1-2 children in an average sized primary cohort who don't appear in September, this is usually due to people moving away rather than going private. Renata
  22. If it doesn't get removed, email me, Renata
  23. Number 2, Fingle is correct. You need to prove you are going elsewhere Renata
  24. College Ward Cllrs Helen Hayes and Andy Simmons are very aware of this. Thames Water have not been very forthcoming over when the water supply is likely to be restored. Helen has notified Council Officers about the situation, particularly as vulnerable, elderly and disabled residents may have difficulty in accessing the bottled water and standpipe. Renata
