  3. thank-you everyone - i am so impressed with the generosity on here! heading off now - still not sure which way but htanks Woolwich have signed up for TFL alerts and will be working off that. again thanks O
  4. hallo all i have to get to Liverpool Street Station via public transport for 9.30 am tomorrow morning. What do people think would be least disrupted - a 40 bus to Aldgate and walk over, or the train to L'Bridge and then tube? I'd really appreciate your advice! (travelling with kids - dreading it) cheers Ollie
  5. hi James, I take it Fusion didn't respond to you? With thanks Olivia
  6. druidmurphy at the hampstead is absolutely breathtaking - especially for anyone particularly interested in top notch irish theatre
  7. Mr Barber, Why can the staff at Fusion not run the place? I see here many people's frustration at Fusion's inability to man their phones and reception desk, operate their AC, and organise the pool schedule. My problem is the amount of cancelled classes. This happens on a regular basis and is made doubly infuriating by Fusion for these reasons - they are so oversubscribed it's a result to actually get INTO a class in the first place: Fusion have contact numbers for people to inform them of cancelled classes but rarely avail of it, certainly they didn't this morning: Fusion staff never offer an apology when this happens - which would actually go a long way in the circumstances: non-members who have paid for the class get reimbursed - members do not !!!! but most annoying of all is the fact that they are at the helm of an incredibly beautiful facility with a huge member base and they just simply can't run it. I stood in a queue this morning for ten minutes with at least six other people for a class (had the class been on we would all have been late for it while we waited for someone to sign us in even though we have all already booked and paid but that is just their clever way of doing things) before the receptionist made an announcement that didn't come with an apology or an explanation. She had known all that time and just let us stand there. The people already upstairs in the class were left there for another ten minutes before one of them came down to find out what was happening and was told again without apology or explanation. That person left the building and still no-one went upstairs to tell the class. I pointed this out to the manager and reception staff but still didn't see anyone go up. i don't know how many times i have been in their studios waiting for a teacher and figuring out for myself that the class is cancelled and have never been told by staff who are all in possession of the knowledge. The lack of care is astounding. There was a period of time over the winter and spring when more than half the classes i tried to go to were cancelled in circumstances similar to this. I stopped going and have only just returned. This is my second class back and it would seem things have not improved. I want to go to Fusion. It is in my community and my price range. That is the point of it. But it needs to be properly run. They are taking my money and giving me nothing in return but a headache! I have always noticed the amount of people who leave cancelled classes and never say anything. I have gotten in the habit now of asking for the duty manager. That in and of itself is an interesting process. For a start I rarely see the same one. They largely all claim not to know what is going on at the level of their reception desk and whilst they are apologetic they are all rather keen to shirk responsibility. 'It's not their fault the AC or the heating isn't working, or that a teacher cancels or that their reception staff have no basic front of house skills etc...' but as far as i am concerned the common denominator in every one of those situations/excuses is an obvious managerial failure to properly run the place. And i don't know how this is allowed to happen. As a paid up member it seems i have two choices - leave - or continue to give them my money for this kind of service. Unless you have a further option for me? I know there are many many people as frustrated as I am by the squandering of a potentially amazing local facility. I bring this to your attention in the hopes that something can be done to help. Many thanks.
  8. take brewer's yeast (a B vitamin) during the summer. They really don't like the taste - you'll get bitten less - promise!
  9. artful i will be shopping tomorrow from 3 till 6. how kind of you of to say you would prefer to be left at home rather than encounter me out and about. i have three children between 6 and 18 months. i have pm'd you my address. they can sometimes be a bit feral with strangers but since it is all in a good cause i'm sure you'll manage. oh and i might stop by the pub on they way back - what a great idea of yours! - so we should probably make it 3 till 9 afterall. i have suggested you to some other friends of mine who still have some shopping to do and they are absolutely delighted and will be in touch. thank you so much - love this forum!
  10. it was terribly loud. i know this because i was there. in fact i personally was making quite a lot of the noise. if it makes you feel any better i am in a lot of pain right now. i was over-served.
  11. bellenden road all shuttered but no sign of trouble
  12. taking vitamin B complex helps too. apparently they can't bear the taste of the brewer's yeast in your blood. you can actually smell it coming out of your skin - well i can - but rather that than bites that swell up to the size of tennis balls and itch and ooze for weeks - horrible.
  13. Spent a few days there recently with my kid (who's fine). The care was amazing. Big fan of Kings and the NHS!
  14. hi, i thought i'd post and say how this situation was panning out since so many people extended good wishes and great advice. so far no bailiffs have been round - possibly deterred by my ranting phonecalls and letters packed full of all sorts of things learnt here - and my credit rating has come back unaffected - which is great news. and according to Experian, your CR can't be affected by other activity at the same address which is really good news for anyone else who was worried about that too. so thanks again everyone - so far so good!
  15. ask them to give you dialysis and a drip while you're there. hangover definitely gone then.
  16. wow - i've just switched on my computer and am feeling a bit overwhelmed - thank-you everyone for all the support and all the PM's too! i guess this touched a nerve with everyone - how you can be made vulnerable in your own home like this having done nothing wrong. anyway i shall read through all this and make some phonecalls monday morning and let you all know how it plays out... and thank-you again. Ollie
  17. 2 sachet's of kid's diorulyte. promise!
  18. thanks everyone. this is so horrible. some other woman is running around defrauding the state and running up bills she has no intention of paying and I get a bad credit rating?!!!!!!!
  19. I get a lot of threatening bailiff letters intended for previous tenants at my address. Some companies have been quite responsive after one phone-call and backed off but one firm in particular - Equita - refuse to believe i am not the person they want and have just told me they are coming this week to enforce their warrant and retrieve goods. Does anyone know what i can or should do? (Someone else told me that my credit rating could be affected by this address - does anyone know if that could be true?) help and thank-you! Ollie

    books

i knew the book thief was going to be bad when the fly cover fell over to reveal a picture of the writer looking smug and sanctimonious. right there i decided he had nothing to say i wanted to hear. why do writers/publishers think we need pictures? Bad bad idea... and i have been proved right - am stuck on p34 for about a week. what boring, twee, saccharin crap. it's about to join the life of pi as one of the few books i couldn't finish. and i'll give anything a go.
  21. it's fab! one small part still cordoned off due to more rigorous safety checks still being carried but it really is brilliant. fair play and many thanks to denise and all at goose green friends, from me and my kids. (I got 4 chapters of my book read in the sun today and my kids didn't come near once - what more could you possibly want out of a playground?!)
