    Guarantors

    My sister is my guarantor.
  2. That's so true janine85. People do write the oddest things on their facebook pages.
  3. That's why I hate summer in London! go next saturday and it'll be back to normal trust me. People seem to lose all civility when the sun comes out!
  4. COMPLETELY agree with every single word of your post RosieH. And Pickle, totally agree about the Scottish girl and the Irish girl.
  5. Of course that experience will teach them something else! new mother I do worry that you seem to think life is one big competetion, starting from school and presumably continuing the rest of your life. Yes life is hard and competitive but you know what makes it alot easier? having the ability to get along with people of all walks of life! Having humility! Being able to work as a team with differnt people! You do realise that when you come out of school/uni you enter a world full of differnt people of different abilities and in every workplace there will generally be a mixed bunch of people and you will be expected to get along with everyone. Personally I think emotional intelligence and common sense are very important lessons to learn, and actually just as important as academics. I've met many an 'academically able' person in my life, who went to private school, were brought up thinking that that was the be and end all etc, and yet had not an ounce of common sense or emotional intelligence. Academics may get you through school but you'll get much farther in life if you have common sense and emotional intelligence. It's a shame new mother that you clearly don't think any of these lessons are worth learning!
  6. Thank you bluesuperted for your post, it's good to have a more balanced view, as it's all well and good saying take the debt and look at the longer term but that's actually impossible for many people. Breaking even is one thing, you might be able to put up with it and see the end of the tunnel, but LOSING money going out to work is completely different. I also don't think people should take debt so lightly.
  7. Thank you bluesuperted for your post, it's good to have a more balanced view, as it's all well and good saying take the debt and look at the longer term but that's actually impossible for many people. Breaking even is one thing, LOSING money going out to work is completely different. Personally I find it hard to think that it's a good idea to work if you're losing money AND aren't getting to spend more time with your children. That just doesn't make sense to me, long term or otherwise.
  8. It's 'you are' Betterat50m ;-)
  9. Go James, absolutely love your comment and very true! (tu) I agree EMR. Thank goodness there are lovely people like you out there :)
  10. Oh dear I didn't mean your mother!:-$
  11. Yeah and thank god for such an ignorant attitude about Peckham otherwise our lovely Peckham would be overun with twerps :)). I'm already annoyed that Frank's bar has gotten out to the people of Clapham.. grrrr! ;-). I love Peckham just the way it is!
  12. I agree with SJ and Carnell. Pointless listing policies. He's outlining what he's about and personally I think that came off well. He's not Tory lite at all.
  13. Oh well, I did try! I guess it is supposed to be somewhat irrational!
  14. I personally liked his speech. I like his values very much and he's absolutely spot on with the problems that exist in our society.
  15. Awwww that's amazing hellosailor
  16. The mumsnet abbreviations- DD, DH, DS etc. Aghhhhhh what's wrong with just saying my son/my daughter etc? It sounds so vomit inducing :X
  17. Exactly HH- to sound completely pedantic then Sue must surely have meant what causes her irrational rage is when the word 'vintage' is used incorrectly! because the word itself cannot be offensive surely if used correctly ;-)
  18. Exactly Sue so you've just proved your earlier description is quite wrong! vintage means old or new clothes- meaning they're not necessarily second hand as they may never have been worn, from a previous era, usually stopping at the 80s. I shop and buy vintage because I can find one of a kind pieces, which often fit differently than clothes now- better for my petite frame and ridiculously small feet, and often better quality than clothes made now, and are very good value for money, cheaper than mass produced, china made high street clothes. I also enjoy the experience of going to vintage fairs and spending hours trying to find that something special, so it's a kind of experience that you either like or don't like/get or don't get. Certainly it has become a trendy term recently and thus is bandied about way too much and often misused but vintage clothes are fab and vintage shopping is extremely fun :)). Many buyers travel all around the world to source good pieces so it's quite rude to be so derogatary that they are things you wouldn't be able to sell 10 years ago. The vintage industry has been going for ages- I discovered it 10 years ago. I certainly don't like everything I come across in a vintage fair, but I'll always find something that I really love and it's definitely better than feeling depressed walking around Oxford Street.
  19. It could be this person: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?28,750707
  20. Sue, Vintage doesn't mean that at all. Some people do however misuse the term.
  21. I absolutely agree Jeremy. That attitude really gets on my nerves.
  22. 110 per cent ...aghhhhhh THERE'S NO SUCH THING :X
  23. what a stupid amount of money for a pram!
  24. Property prices are still high in Peckham, especially the really nice parts. I'm sure that answers your question doesn't it? I'm glad Peckham still has a bit of a reputation though (which to me is unjustified). It means posh toffs and annoying trendy types haven't taken over ;-)
