  1. Hiya, not a physio but Daniel Harvey from Dulwich Chiropractic worked magic when I had severe SPD. I could barely walk but just a couple of sessions really improved it massively - I could walk, sit, sleep - all those things had been very painful before. He's not too expensive and normally you can get appointments quickly (http://www.dulwichchiropractic.co.uk/_) Good luck! mx
  2. Hi, I was wondering if there is any local knowledge? Any parents with kids there? I would like to hear some thoughts - either here or via pm. many thanks! mx
  3. Very touching reading - thank you for sharing.
  4. Trytime Rugby at Belair Park (http://www.trytimekidsrugby.com/) - excellent fun and spending an action filled hour outdoor, means we don't feel so guilty for staying in rest of the day if the weather is rubbish. Btw, it's not really rugby at this age: they play a lot of games, do some kicking and little obstacle courses.
  5. Hiya, we've been going to swimming classes since LO was 4month and the teacher always says ideally not to bother with swim arm bands as it means that the kids are in the wrong position in the water and can't really use their arms properly. So we don't use them much, unless on holiday where several hours are spend in the pool - it's quite nice to let him just float / race around without being held. Noodles are great - what we use most of the time now.
  6. Hiya, we found all of the various wooden ones tend to work together no problem. We have bits of Brio, Bigjigs and numerous cheaper ones from the likes of Aldi, Liddle and Tchibo - which makes for a massive set and kept the costs down...
  7. Hi there - if you are looking for something really active, Trytime rugby holds sessions for boys and girls on a Friday morning in Belair Park in Dulwich. We go on Saturday and love it and it means you get outside, even when the weather is not great...http://www.trytimekidsrugby.com/venue/dulwich/
  8. Hiya, if you like a structured type of class, we loved going to sing&sign (http://www.singandsign.com/classes/classes-near-you/southwark-and-lambeth) and made good friends. ED tots website (http://www.edtots.co.uk/) has lots of other things on - hopefully you find something you like! Mx
  9. I have to say I frequently see no one offering to help - at a guess 50% of the time?
  10. hpsaucey Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > God - I have the same problem. But it was still a nice wander, went to Mary-le-bow, where the vicar gave an interesting short talk, then walked along the Thames path - not something we had done for a long time - it seems to have improved. Next year: have subscribed to the newsletter and hope to be better organised (and get there earlier:) What did others go & see? m
  11. Hahaha, it Is talk like a pirate day, very appropriate :) Thank you every one for the suggestions, they're brilliant, and thank you for the offer, Grotty, too. I think we will go for a mix of bought ( got a sword and sash for belt) and I make some of the things suggested as the boy now says he doesn't want to dress up!!! Argh. So instead of full costume, we'll settle for light touch and accessories :) Many thanks, mx
  12. Hi, I had these amazing plans to make a pirate costume for my 3.5 yr old son for a party he is going to - only to fail completely and now look to acquire one quickly - the party is this weekend. Anyone know where I can buy one? Had a look in Sainsbury, but couldn't fine one - any other suggestions please?
  13. This is the first year I finally want to go - but the choice is pretty overwhelming! Any recommendations?
  14. Agree with OP - and that includes station staff: if there are three of you standing around chatting while watching someone struggle up or down the stairs, feel free to pitch in (and yes, I did say make that comment to the staff in question at the time, too).
  15. Petition signed
  16. Could it be restored using various forms of crowdfunding and run as a private, non-for-profit enterprise that monetizes other things, too?
  17. Do phone them and get them to explain exactly how the bill is calculated. I had a similar thing happen to me years ago and when I phoned the guys asked if I had a swimming pool. Living in a 5th floor flat, it was pretty obvious no... I kept arguing till they accepted their computers had gone wrong somewhere - and I did not owe them any more money. Good luck!
  18. Sounds like a great day - have shared on FB and hope to be there...
  19. Sorry to hear about your troubles - a friend of mine had exactly the same issues with her son simply not wanting to go and it turned into a massive battle of wills. They had some success with target sticker in the loo (along these lines: http://www.amazon.co.uk/toilet-training-target-stickers-Happeedays/dp/B002GZAWUK) turning a wee into a game (it was still hard work). Best of luck!
  20. It would be nice - other lidos seem very popular, so why not?
  21. We put bamboo down in our lounge and a number of bedrooms and love it. Very, very hard wearing, 5 yrs on, it looks like new despite heavy traffic. Not all bamboo is the same quality, the strip-glued type seems less strong, we have something called strand woven. Laid on top of the original floorboards, with underlay, it does a great job of insulating. We used this company - and I know our builder has recommended them (after coming across them via us) to quite a few of other clients: http://www.bambooflooringcompany.com/all-flooring/strand-woven-flooring/ good luck!
  22. Hiya, I would hugely recommend my childminder who is looking to take on another child - though she is more Denmark Hill way (near Vestry Rd). If you're interested, please PM me.
  23. Best of luck that you find someone - I have often thought something like this would be great to share some of the childcare struggles!
  24. Second to the Albrighton centre - you get use of the kitchen, too - and the bouncy castle is brilliant entertainment.
