Hooray - Thames Water back on Peckham Rye/Rye Lane

I don't know why they bother to fill in the hole. I suspect this is all to do with how the water companies are set up. Basically the regulator sets the amount of profit they are allowed to make. Our bills are made up cost to get water to us + profit. They have no real motivation to keep costs down as they can just raise bills to get the same profit. -

Man stabbed to death near East Dulwich station
h3+ replied to louisiana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It is all very sad. I was watching cartoons when I was 14. I think there are no simple solutions. Certain young people seem to not to value their lives possibly through a lack of a plausible decent future. They may come from several generations of poverty and this seems to get entrenched. -

I'm a bit in shock. I was out on Lordship lane last night and it was surprisingly quiet. -
A phone shop. I appreciate that many contain people of dubious intelligence but they do come in handy.

Southwark consulting on borough-wide dog control orders
h3+ replied to elloriac's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There should be a cost of owning a dog to deal with the costs of cleaning up after them. Given that licensing will probably not be cost effective perhaps some sort of levy on dog products like dog food would be possible. -
Phase 2 of the East London Line extension

I was in the pub with some engineers types a month or so back and they said they were bidding to do the work and that it was going ahead. Apparently most of it is already in place so it is not a big or expensive thing to do. -
I actually spoke to him today. He seems nice enough albeit with an atrocious odour. He told me he did as an example for others which i think is rather noble/.

that sounds like him. I fear to speak to him in case he decides to lecture me on my recycling.

I moved a few months ago to East Dulwich Road. A few weeks a go I spotted an old-ish man going through our recycle bins and separating the plastic, paper, glass, etc. He then went into the general waste bin and starting opening up black bags of rubbish to see if there was anything in there that should have been recycled. This is both rather noble and disgusting. I've seen him a few times now. Has anyone else spotted said chap and how far ranging are his activities? J
