I mean if i look at the 2 boys schools already in existence in Peckham and Nunhead for 20years+ i cannot see that other than a vast improvement on the quality and age of the buildings there is much difference ? They are filming an insert for the new bond film. They need to re-film a scene that was originally set in one of the failed baltic states, its a fight scene set in a dilapidated children's playground. Instead of flying everyone back out there at great expense they are doing the re-shoots in the playground in Peckham Rye Park, the location scouts reckon it has a similar feel to it. x

Absolutely outraged ! I have just looked at those images of the proposed school, i'm GOBSMACKED ! how can this be, who came up with this ridiculous design, surely these architects and the council have lost their minds. The school just looks sort of Square ? I know all the schools i went to had a similar shape, square ish, and all the schools that i have ever seen ,bar the one in harry potter, have a square, box type feel to them but here in the heart of ED....they must be mad. Surely they could have gone for a series of wigwams in a circle, 1 wigwam per year group, in fact they could have been made of glass or even wood and we could have got old Zaha onboard to stealth it up a bit. I ask you a square type school with different floors , just crazy.

Point taken but on a motorbike you have much more flexibility. We would outrun old bill all the time using the alley ways and blocked streets as they could not follow you in their cars. Hi Vince I totally agree, anything to promote Nunhead is a positive thing. It's a real shame that someone somewhere did not get this message about the market to the shop owners on the lane. Infact it is just another example of people at the council talking to themselves and not actually engaging with the community, it actually re-inforces everything i was saying. Ayres is an institution, all my kids have grown up on your iced frogs !

mmm good question, well if you want to create a harmonious and organised feel to an area it is nice to show that you have considered the design, as well as setting a standard for all future dealings with that area. Places that are often overlooked and neglected by councils often suffer lots of other adverse side effects. Effects such as litter issues, bad road surfaces, poor police response, disjointed planning decisions, drop of in local trade.. ...do i need to continue. Nunhead has been fighting, and fighting hard against these things and is really coming through the other side. Now Let the council stand up and show a more considered approach to the way it manages future decisions ( what ever body of the council they come from )regarding nunhead lane.

Missed the last one. But do the community council deal with it, is it actually being listened to, and are they still arguing about not letting marks and spencer's open in the lane (yes nuts isn't it) These speedtables have been being built over the last12 months and the regen zone has been a fantasy waiting to happen for at least 5years. It seems to me like nobody is really in any overall control, should we get some of the lib dems down to shake things up a bit ? i give in, i will start wearing orange and voting liberal if thats what it takes to get a organised and cohesive regeneration of the lane under way. Also does anyone know why not one of the shops in the lane was represented at the urban market the other day, i was expecting them to be there in force. Were they invited ? i was dreaming of a table of ice and fresh fish ?

anyway putting aside the outrageous length of time it has taken to regenerate this park - It is now a really beautiful Park, really busy and really well used. We are all really lucky to have these 2 parks Dulwich and Peckham Rye on our doorsteps amd thanks to all involved and all their hard work in getting them into their current conditions. It's great that children get to experience them. .....oh and can the council please please look down the back of the Couch in Chambers and find the money to bring the outdated play area in Peckham Rye park bought up to scratch...please ? In the words of NIck Clegg - "If we want a political system that works for the future, we need to start again. From scratch. Let start at Peckham Rye and get this play area working and working well" Extract from conference speech.

The cafe in dulwich park needs to serve beer just to keep you alive in the endless cues for bastardized english coffee.

Nunhead is apparently getting ?500.000 money for regen along Nunhead Lane. If any of the ward councillors in that area are reading this would they come on and explain why the 5 speed tables built along the Lane in the last 12 months all differ in style, ie different bricks and stone etc. It's ridiculous that nobody actually thought to oversee all this work. Just incase anybody needs an example just look at the speed tables along grove vale (ED), all the same all match and hey they look really good. This is called planning, design and a little bit of thought. These things cost ?30.000 + each, so I have been informed so to redo them is now going to cost you 1/5 of the regeneration money. Can the Labour councillors in the ward please get their act together.

I am with you on that one wilbur, the council are F***useless when it comes to planning apps once you get over the other side of the Rye. The amount of Bollox that has been signed of on over this side is a joke. Nunhead gets treated as an afterthought. All the councillors are to blame, ward councillors and the main council.

Oh right i see, was it the bureau for the Liberal Democrats Mural Defacement Scheme ...LDMDS Regiment for short.
