  1. Hi again mutley, I think you need to define this notion of sports. I think the idea is to use sport in an innovative to underpin an already established curriculum. You seem to all be implying that there will be 30mins of 100m followed by a double period of Pole Vault before ending the day on shotput sessions. I think this link to the Girls Academy will help inform everyone a bit better. http://www.hgaed.org.uk/index.php?page=epage61 And as had been stated many times before it is infact only 750 full time students
  2. "Portsmouth is a lovely city and there is not that much crime, but the drugs problem is massive. "The police are losing the battle against drugs. They don't have a grip on the situation." BBC
  3. Thanks again Mutley, you too can have all those feilds to run around in, 16 -18 Grand a year and they too can be yours. So back to reality we are talking about State schools. I think the sports academy is a great idea. Maybe we will get an olympian out of it in years to come, now that would be good. Maybe we would get a few sports facilites in Peckham Rye Park like the new ones in Dulwich Village Park. Wow the future could really be bright.
  4. The Same guy has won the Barrel running contest 6 years in a row. He turns up last and smashes the pants of everyone, then takes his trophy and marches back into Peckham. Lots of fun !!
  5. Great news, finally some much needed focus on the little 1'oclock club. Well done to all involved.
  6. Hi muttley, So having a Boys School on One Side and a Girls school on the other side of Peckham Rye, ticks your mixed community part. I am sure the parents of all the children going to these schools and who live in the community do and will take an active part in the schools. I know lots of parents who are involved in the Girls academy and it's a great thing to. And yes your right Children will go and learn things at this school, why would they not ? Have you personally taken responsibility for hiring the teaching staff? are they all rubbish ? if that is the case then your issue is surely with the teacher training colleges ? Just another thought, if this school leads to the badly needed updating and investment in the National Sports center at Crystal palace the surely that is a great thing. I know that Jags (4th best performing school in Britain), Alleyns and Dulwich College all used to bus their children regulary to the Sports Centre for swimming lessons. Lots of other schools in the area still do, most of them on busy and congested roads. Is your concern about this so called pre labelled 'sink school' the fact that there may only be a couple of parents riding to the school on fashionably contemporary yet old fashioned bicyles with whicker baskets on the front and EDT oraganic bags slung over the handle bars ? Hope this has alayed your fears and i am glad we agree that we are both talking about the same thing. See you at Harvest Festival. Any questions , just pop your collar and ask.
  7. More to the OKR stabbing than meets eye. It been closed off for 2 days now and there are some intersting plain clothes units moving around the place,.
  8. mechanical ventilation !! surely you mean air conditioning. Hands up if you work in an office with the dreaded mechanical ventilation, er sorry air conditioning. I hear the Liberals are playing public face, private face on this issue.
  9. Hooters fantastic, where is it ?
  10. What school would you like to see, something like the little primary in Dulwich Village, conkers in autumn, ivy growing up the walls and house prices spiralling out of control. I mean the amount of buses rolling up to Alleyns and Jags is a sight to behold but everyone there seems ok about it ?
  11. We have been suffering crimes against regeneration over here for years. Brap Brap Brap
  12. This is getting ridiculous: Nunhead has a small area of our small green sectioned off into a dog exercise area. Goose green is not really flooded with dogs. Why don't they designate a smaller area in part of the green, and re-use the existing fence to do this ? Surely this is much better, accommodates everyone, keeps the cost down and removes what is basically a horrendous design flaw from the park. Splitting it in half was way to ambitious and effects the overall balance of the green. OK maybe a mistake was made, but in good faith, so lets spend a bit more money and sort it.
  13. Great let's hope he blitzes Goose Green and the Dulwich Park Cafe !!
  14. ok as my last response got deleted.....so i will try to be a bit more grown up and less knee jerk or just jerk. D'face accusses "It seems that inspiration for the Chapman Brothers' latest work pays more than a striking resemblance to mine. But it's just not as good and two years later. These are mainstream artists stealing from sub-cultural artists." Response from the Chapmans "Drawing on money is as original as graffiti and that is as old as the Caves of Lascaux. It's not a great revelation to draw on money. It's not original. What's interesting is that because it's unoriginal, it's authorless......No one can claim ownership of it. It's strange for someone to claim authorship of graffiti which is by its very nature an avoidance of the notion of authorship,"
  15. doh .......not so brilliant - although outside of geographics..........brilliant !
  16. Hang on ! as i wondered into the Nunhead & Peckham Rye playground at Goose Green i realised that that ugly, money down the drain, carbuncle of a fence was still in place !!! I take it all back, we can't have a re-bate. Benches look nice though.
  17. Oh we have 2 pub benches, a couple of slightly melted plastic ponies all right next to a dog fouling area and thats next to 3 large commercial rubbish bins. So come to Nunhead Green in summer for your picnic !!! We have a community here as well and the green is central to it, unfortunately people voted labour and so we will get Sweet F A. Thats what happens when you do actually engage, tick your box but make sure it's the right one, ah the joy of the Mugabe vote.
  18. Yes it is appropriate to say people were not consulted. They never are thats how politics works. That fence appeared over night and people were like "it's ***&ing hideous, who knew, take it down" - 6+ years later it is removed under some false pretence. Why not say "yes we $%^&ed up and have absolutely no taste or sense of design" As for "It's easy (and lazy) to complain after the event", that is pulled out of someone's arse in every discussion about local meetings, it is far more complex than that. It like when we talk about immigration, every other person is suddenly a racist. Or anyone who says "i am not sure about Europe" is suddenly labeled as some backward looking nationalist and are represented 'conveniently' by a umbrella of organisations ,no doubt set up by the governments own agencies, with name's like UKIP, the English Party or the BNP. Anyway back to the picnic benches and the laminated posters on the fences, did anyone think to just post the idea on a thread here and gauge opinion from that ?
  19. Cock Face more like.
  20. We will put picnic benches where ever we like, stop complaining. who cares about the kids. The article in last weeks observer clearly stated that Picnics where the new folk festival which was the new rock festival. keep up !
  21. we have had these in Nunhead for years, we did ring the council on mass to complain. But they basically told us to %^&* off, and cancelled the regeneration plans. Now they are widening the pathways and creating more problems with the parking around Queens road, we complained. This time they told us that the money comes from europe and it had to be spent and That the residents living alongside these road were merely incidental and that we should all ^&** off. Also if we complained we would be branded as believing we lived in England and barcoded immediately.
  22. Yes i know all the local butchers, Scotch Meats in West Dulwich, libretto's in Wood Vale, Our own Nunhead Butchers and The hollywood butcher that is William Rose!! But my point is Sainsbury's as huge as it is Should be offering free range chicken, not organic. Cloth bags fine, but why on earth do they not even have some kind of drop off for old plastic bags to be recycled. It's all just lip service politics. Let just boycott the whole store for one day, and then see what happens. Please list your changes or additions you would like to see. I'll start. Rio De Mare' Tuna @ a reasonable price.
  23. Hooray for the ED liberals and their one Conservative friend in the village. Can we all get a rebate now ?
