  1. Yo ding dang doo...who you calling working class ? Actually it's the simple fact that something which has so much local input "children from 12 local schools, adults with learning difficulties and members of the community." should also have a lot of local input as to it's removal.....if your kids are f...ing up the environment then keep them indoors. As for Decent quality parents that is usually down to shit schools for decades. A little bit of graffiti can be easily rectified no worries. No doubt someone/group let it go on in order to get this thing removed. I would rather my money be spent on cleaning up this mural than on some bollox being built on the Goose Green roundabout
  2. What West Dulwich boring ? be carefull lot's of them drink in the Dog you could end up in a dust up especially if they find out that you lot drink there. It will be organic knickers at dawn.
  3. Er....Considering the road is much thinner i am not sure what you are on about. It is also a residential road and is crammed with park cars. As for accidents it is moments away from a junction where a young boy got killed by someone driving a white van in 2002 and has yet to be caught. After this they did sweet F all.........they should be ashamed
  4. Does this have anything to do with the forthcoming gentrification of Goose Green ? Happy to have a shit fence that costs a fortune but lets whitewash the mural because it's not very middle class and therefore very unliberal.....asses
  5. No she's right you are all weird ! in the words of Jon Gaunt "It is always white middle-class twits (with an A) who cause trouble within our disunited kingdom," ....... x
  6. Thats outrageous if that is true. That mural depicted William Blake's vision in Peckham Rye and had had a lot of well thought out local references. Which ignorant tit did that.
  7. Oh yes i see. I was really pondering why so much has been written about this school, not just here but on a variety of websites and political literature stretching back quite a few years. There is a boys school in Nunhead "St Thomas the Apostle College" it is a boys school with 717 pupils. Over the years it has consistently performed above the national average 65% of pupils leaving with gcse's grades A-C in 2005. Obviously while not in the same league as Dulwich College etc it has no doubt offered and given, a lot of pupils an advantage in life. It would be nice to think that we could have some confidence in the fact that our education system, when supported properly, can work. And that a new school opposite Peckham Common should be veiwed in a positive light. It seem's to me that most of the arguments are a bit of a sham about the underlying fears and predjudices that some people have. St Thomas the Apostle College has one entrance which spills out onto a road that has not seen a penny spent on it since god knows when, I amazed they do not lose their pupils to potholes to be honest. I use the road pretty often and only once in about 5 years have I ever had any negative encounters with any of their pupils and that was over litter and apologies were pretty swift.
  8. Oh I see so the issue that has taken up 8 pages about building a much needed secondary School in ED is about exits and pupil volume and eoad safety and nothing whatsoever to do with Race/Class or the Liberal council executive being outmanouvered. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
  9. there are over a thousand girls + boys coming out of the Jags & Alleyns - I am a little lost as to what the difference is could someone explain ?
  10. No still not making any sense to me, come on help me out !
  11. Macroban - Why the string thing......explain please ?
  12. OK then. Just read the Councillors website about the Academy - look like they are supporting it against the ideological position of their party (did'nt really know they even did ideology) And that is an example of why you need to research before you blog - Me bad - apologies
  13. Had my thread deleted ? What was wrong with it ?
  14. EDoldie - Well it's not really what everybody should be doing because no one else came up with ideas. They were all simple and have to a great extent made London run better, and most of them are focused on us and not big Business. A Con Mayor would probably re-take the Dome and use it to stage London's first ever arms fair, Saudi Royals get in for free. And paddick will use him extensive Grammar school education to spout of about the 'common man' while secretly tring to bring back an organic version of the British RAJ.
  15. Travel cards, tube arrival times, bus arrival times, oyster cards, congestion charge, trafalgar pedestrianised.....bendy buses not so good.....all Ken's ideas (some of them stretching back to GLC days) and mostly bloody good ideas that make London tick...give the guy a break, who gives a shit if he is anti Eton / Old Boys club good for him.
  16. Can we drop this "it's not in ED balls". The Gowlett, the Rye hotel and the Dog are absolutely part of the everyday fabric of ED
  17. post removed - The Administrator
  18. Cake to you but an object of cultural significance to others !
  19. Brilliant center in West Dulwich - just opposite, Cafe Rouge. really know there stuff and are extremely friendly and helpful. Never went back to ED garden center after visiting this place, even if it is a little drive.
  20. On my run this morning I noticed that somehow the two yellow lollipop things had come of on one side - Now there are just a couple of flashing lightbulbs, priceless. I wish I had my camera,I would posted you all a picture of this forlorn little crossing.
  21. There is nothing poncey about Pannettone, just because you ED foodies relate ponceyness to price then it is no wonder things just get marked up and up and up ! And personaly I think if you start to get too involved in someone's business, if it was me, you 'd be in the fryer with the coley. - And it's not the Rye it's Peckham Common actually !
  22. Not really sure you can by the ingredients for ?1.46 but I agree with you that London prices are a piss take/cake
  23. Er ? I was talking about the flashing LED signs that say "Reduce speed to 30mph" and only near the Zebra Crossing that is largely ignored by drivers as they fly down the hill at 50+ Mph. This crossing is used by a lot more children now the park is a more attractive place to be, The crossing itself is extremely faded. The one on the otherside near the clockhouse is bright, well marked and the road has 2 speed reminders on and 2 speed cameras. They could at least find some f***ing money and sort the other one out before there is an accident.
  24. Cool - we will be grabbing that tonight, if you hear grinding and see sparks, close your curtains and think of November 5th !
  25. Well apparently it's beacuse Ed has more expensive houses therefore a greater council tax band, so everynow and then you donate the folk of Nunhead something regenerationary, like a bus stop or a photocopier for the library. So thanks again, you are all like one big generous Elton John wrapped in an Organic Pashmeena x x
