No it's not in ED, but a number of forumites have been telling me that Nunhead & Peckham are basically subsidised by the huge tax contributions of the folk of ED, not to mention the vast amounts of council tax that ED pays because of house price rises. So I have taken them for their word and sent a message of thanks for our lovely new bus stop x x Ps could they find it within themselves to give us a few traffic calming measures on the road on the othreside of the Peckham Rye park, even just 1 "Slow down 30 mph" flashing signs (not 60mph) would be gratefully recieved.

If you have a reciept with your oyster of say a travel card etc then they are fine with it.

Still Dizzy - It looks like Nunhead lane has finally got a new bus stop and a covered one at that, and paid for by the generous folk of ED, thank you. It looks like the regeneration might finally be under way.....stop sniggering at the back ....My only problem is this, 5 years ago a few of us enquired as to why Dulwich Village got Cast Iron bus stops while our request on behalf of the numerous pensioners in Nunhead for a covered shelter was ignored the response was this " due to fear of vandalism we have had them constructed out of iron with the glass back to the fences " ...mmmm interesting so if Dulwich village is similar to fallujah that it requires such bus stop protection then Nunhead with its plastic glass shelters facing the road must be similar to some alpine village in Switzerland, christ we will get a Foxtons within days in that case.

There's the problem right there, when you swipe these things how are you supposed to know what on it ? it's not like the soak that you have just rolled is going to tell you what he's got on his card !

I used to get my Dax Wax from kensington and have very fond memories of a changing room experience in Hyper Hyper ....memories............. from the corners of my mind.............. misty alcohol/tamazipan soaked memories of the way we...still are !

The Village Inn (was The Page 2 pub)

Just visited ...very impressed with how much the vibe has changed. I think as they are unable to pump money straight in this one is going to be a slow burner. Having sampled the atmos and new vibe I think it is going to be worth the wait. It reminded me of one of those pubs that you hung out in when you were younger, everyone was there but there was no specific reason why it just had a good vibe. -
just out of interest - what do you do in that situation ?
-
The problem with the bikes though Chav is that it is very hard to dog in the sainsburys car park with those things. You can barely get the lids closed and you really do feel the cold.

Actually there are only 2 buses that go through Nunhead centre the 12 & the 78 - the 78 basically twins us with Shoreditch - you can get there in 35-40mins handy for a night out at Shoreditch House! Not sure where the 484 comes into things ? As for Queens road Peckham to ED by the time you walk to the QR station get the train and get off, you may as well just walk to ED - then you still have to get on the bleedin P13 to get too West Dulwich ! I have always wondered why they do not get those little electric 10 seaters for the daytimes so locals can nip around carbon free - ish and shop/bank with ease - most of Europe has these things. Our lot just seem to order bigger and bigger junk. I have actually stopped paying for the bendy buses. I read a report that said fare dodging had dropped since these buses were introduced, once i picked myself up and stopped laughing, i threw away my oyster card and now regulary travel into the Elephant and castle for free, absolutely wonderful. I donate all my would be spending money to buying great bread at the EDD ! yum yum

P13 easy - you are having a laugh - it takes nearly 45mins to get from Queens road Peckham to West Dulwich ! let alone Streatham. not sure if anyone one has noticed but there are no direct links from Peckham, Queens road, Nunhead etc into the promised land that is East Dulwich, Dulwich village or West Dulwich ! all require numerous changes or ridiculous, as is the case of the p13 trips around all the backstreets and a visit to Sainsburys ! All bus routes into the city lead through Peckham, Camberwell and the Walworth road, stopping every 30 secs to let some overweight or lazy div get on and travel 1 stop. One day they will come up with commuter buses and really do something about congestion and the environment. They want us to work but do mind us spending 1.5 hours crawling along various high streets joining in on everyone else's shopping trips. I can see it now Gordon Brown, Camero and the son of ming all visit china via a long haul multi stopper flight that takes 28 hours including 3 refuelling stops a stabbing and a change of planes along the way ....idiots all of them.

Italian bakers produce some 117 million panettone and pandoro cakes every Christmas -- worth 579 million euros (416 million pounds). By law they must be made according to strict rules, including using only butter and beer yeast. But those rules do not apply abroad, meaning exported Italian cakes may not be up to scratch, and foreign-made versions may only bear a vague resemblance to the tall, puffy, golden desserts prized by Italians. "We can't let all these imitators use a name, a brand that gives them a link to territory that isn't theirs -- in a way they are mocking consumers," Regards Capo della Calabria x

The one's at EDD are the same price and the ones at lidls are .... not to be found in Italy unless of course they are left on your doorstep in Calabria in which case pack your bags and head to the nearest church.

have they taken down that painting yet it's bleeding freaky, festival scene etc ? Can you just rename a bar and expect it to change ? is it actually under new management ? -
mmmm stopped buying from there in 2002 after someone unmamed told me that someone unnamed working in an unamed shop close to an unamed bridge near an unamed station were a bunch of unamed &wats! tight as well ..... charity donations I think not Yes he does still work there infact he owns part of it and has planning permission so sue there asses. i have been told that they have been threating anyone who tries to open rival nurserys in the area for years, with things like "we will withdraw our custom from anyone who supplies you"
-
Yes sphillips you are alone and will stay that way if you continue with such considered and thoughfull posts. Take Mark for example in his reply he clearly goes off piste and advocates the opening of a XXXX shop in ED, now thats more like it !

You go councillor ! You can do what ever you like in your personal life, family or no family absolutely. I do not think there was any real suggestion of you jumping ship or anything like that. However...This bit " My resignation statement - which can be read here - talks about East Dulwich (rather than Nunhead) because I am an East Dulwich councillor." I find a bit odd. as far as i was aware you were in fact also the head of Southwarks regeneration program and therefore in charge of the Mythical land across the park known as Nunhead. So I sort of expected a tiny crumb like piece of news, even something like "yes we have located it on our town-hall map" would be good. Or do you remain in charge of regeneration ? if so apologies. Anyway good luck with the extended grants, just don't not spend it all down Lordship Lane. Actually while we are on the subject how come the executive find 5-million "as this is funded from capital - the council's own money" to refurbish the recently refurbished ED leisure center yet find sweet FA for us starving, impoverished waifs over Nunhead way. And also Just a little thought when you say "as this is funded from capital - the council's own money" it kind of comes across like the money actually belongs to you guys and not the Tax Payers, which obviously in no way is the councils mindset.

I think the Pulse shut for nearly 2 years while the council argued over how to pay for the repairs. The contracts that the executive signed off on (just a few years previous) where as watertight as the pool itself. They then tried to blackmail central government/lottery for money, and were in no uncertain terms rebuffed. Then they cancelled their plans for an ED oppulency grant and found the money suddenly to do the repairs. Meanwhile the kids from the surrounding areas spent 2 of their summer holidays with F all pool !

Ah just found out what happened to the cllr "I have written to the Leader of the Council informing him of my intention to resign my post of Executive Member for Regeneration on 22nd February in order to take up full time employment with a public affairs and communications firm" he then goes on to say "The Liberal Democrats have an exciting agenda to deliver the much-needed new school, a refurbished Leisure centre, better street lighting and improvements to Lordship Lane. With James Barber and Jonathan Mitchell, I am determined to deliver on this agenda." Nothing about his and the Liberals role in the Nunhead Regeneration plans which he was in charge of; says it all really. Maybe his new communications firm does all the advertising for the Council, now that would be a turn up !
