"Striking new images of plans to create a modern public realm in the heart of Peckham town centre have been shown to councillors........community councillors were asked to press Southwark Council to adopt the proposal as a proactive project whether the tram comes or not, and to commission a feasibility study as soon as possible" Basically this is about "creating an open piazza surrounded by shops to replace the shabby buildings that currently occupy the site" Great idea no? but will they find the funding? go to www.peckhamvision.org for more info

Syringe Exchange/Methadone Services: Crystal Palace Rd

Dear Clare A Wonderful prose, but basically why should ED be able to stop a needle exchange? What possible reasons can you give above and beyond those of any other community? Basically none. They are needed end of story, it does not matter what lengths people go to dress it up its' wrong. Everyone needs to shoulder some responsibility...its called society. "friendly association with others," from socius meaning "companion, associate, comrade or business partner." The Latin word was derived from the Greek socus locus, meaning locally social, and implied a social contract between members of the community. Implicit in the meaning of society is that its members share some mutual concern or interest, a common objective or common characteristics" Unless of course your society is Separate from mine ? -

I agree with Asset - head Parliment Sq, Green park and up onto the bond street area, much easier. Also get on the Old Kent Road as quick as possible, its fast, lots of cyclist's and a big bus lane never had any problems. Head Past Imperial war museum, over lambeth bridge and into Parliment Square.

The thick leather glove or a single golf glove usually 'nike' is a sign that says hey " I have got a gun, my aunt has a gun, or a mate of mine knows someone who knows someone who has a gun, I could get hold of it, if I just nip home and then come back. And with my glove on I will not leave any finger prints" ! or " I have no gun just a golfing glove" " or "I love golf and have left my clubs at home " Either way it basically means I am really a bit of a tool, and I don't think the other guys/girls that I am with have figured it out yet. -

BARA if I live in your catchment area, suffer from some form of addiction would I be able to join your association ? I read an article recently about some local community groups in a number of European Countries who ran there own needle exchange services. They recieved funding from local government and obviously the benefits worked both ways. The community became more informed about addiction and therefore were less afraid of the issues at stake. Do you think that this is something that you may look into? it would be an interesting outcome to all this debate would it not? -
Denmark Hill to London Bridge Closure

Maybe there are some long range politics at play here. Push the Tram into peckham - cheap alternative to any extended tube links. House price rises in London mean that people will be moving further into the South East and Kent. So instead of investing in the infrastructure, we will rob from Peter to pay for Paul or whatever the saying is. Meanwhile the government can get brand new offices for itself all over whitehall and the bankside, built with speed and efficiency. The foreign office, the Major of londons offices, new MI5 + MI6 etc etc. We should have stuck them out in Kent and they could have all commuted the other way! -

MMMM the you must live in the only road in Nunhead with a new tarmac road and block stone paving. Done 3+ years ago just before the last road of local elections, completely out of the blue and with no consultation. And if it is the road I am thinking of then it was in a pretty good state to begin with. No doubt the libyan's were targetting your ward. Well only a guess? Ps...can you explain pork barrel politics (meaning)...I was ejected from school fairly early on! -

If it does not happen I will buy up on all the Mail on Sundays for a month in all the newspaper shops within close proximity to the DMC. Then BARA will know what cold turkey feels like. -

Now I have realised that it is inside the treeline this seems a bit wrong. The road itself is really bad, lots of fast moving traffic and a deathtrap of a zebra crossing, silly bollarded area type thing on the other side. Surely they need to address the road first. Obviously the road on the otherside (ED) is lovely and safe. Flashing 30mph sign, well marked, clean and painted zebra crossing, speed camera, new junction opposite the Hearn tavern, and a nice wide, newly laid pathway. On the otherside we have worn road markings, potholes, cracked tarmac and as i said a lethal zebra crossing that is generally used for kids to get into the park from the Peckham/Nunhead side, and pathway that thins out so much opposite the new flats you have to step onto the road to get past people at the busstop. Obviously I would hate to mention this for fear of being accused of some delusional bias..... But hey, maybe somebody thinks (hopes) people will object, or they will find some obscure rule about the park being a common, and then they can not build a tarmac biycle lane on it. They would then have to spend the money somewhere else....mmm where would that be ? -

Never mind ...! You mean never mind the fact that every street is a residential street; What makes yours so special ? The people who live on the roads near kings hospital are residents too are they not? Have you got some pecking order that we should know about? Maybe when these things were moved into local pharmacies the idea from policy makers was to break up the numbers so no one particular area was the sole focus, what is unfair about that ? -

Sorry to add something possibly constructive. But if this thing is a splash park then surely we are talking young kids etc. Is 7.30pm to 9.pm not a bit late? or not very inclusive for children ? would a saturday afternoon not attract more interest ?
