  1. "If Macey's is the chemist in North Cross Road" Just catching up with this thread and I am stunned. Maceys is 3doors down the road from the childrens bookshop and across the road from a shop that gets a better attendance rate than most schools....Hope and Greenwood. Are we really still wasting our time when the real reasons behind BARA et all flipping out are pretty obvious. It's all very sad really.
  2. Chav for leader ..of ....something....what about the lib dems their rudderless now and could do with some backbone and genuine intelligence
  3. Sorry alm just following your logic do you mean..... That you like shopping at the Elephant and Castle centre because it's virtually empty of people or shops, but never go to Bluewater because it's busy and full of shops. Its a bit like the play area, your trying to say that because it is so in need of updating, therefore barely registers on the wider communities radar that this is a good thing. It's kind of like saying lets keep it small and private? As for rant and facts you yourself make the comparison between the Rye and the Greedy goose and used the word similar? Goose: 8 toddlers swings 8 older swings - 16 in all Rye: 2 toddlers 2 older - 4 in all Goose 4 large climbing frames, well spaced and lots of area to run. Rye 2 Small climbing frames close together in small cramped/bijous space. So please help me to unbaffle myself....
  4. Oh dear Looks like Mings Gone...nothing that I said was it ?
  5. oooh sounds great I will start making another plant disguise.
  6. Interesting, Sounds a lot, but in fact most of the children are at the centre are between 1 & 6 and at the school 5 & 10...so that?s daft. As for the staff - they are certainly not all Nunhead residents, as for immediate residents I would love to know what that means - friends living opposite had no idea? So really a comprehensive list boils down to............not really a consultation? Doing some other research it seems that Local council members were not even informed - How the hell does that happen? Surely someone has a duty to tell someone? Who?s on this bleeding executive?
  7. Ed's worse than Peckham Rye, not sure about that ?
  8. Does anyone know why some of Rye Oak Primary School's 1900 buildings have been pulled down to make way for a New Early Years Centre? And what are the council executives plans, if any, for the green space in front of the Old Nunshead where the old Early Years centre still is? Why did the Council Executive decide to go ahead without the proposals being put forward for consultation or any engagement with the wider community. Apparently they only consulted parents with children currently at the centre. Would they behave the same way in other areas? Should they not have thought about expanding the facilities at Rye Oak so as to provide Nunhead & Peckham Rye with a primary school whose local support and new facilities would give it a chance to develop into a stronger primary school
  9. I have heard of these things you call bike sheds. Grainy images of these legendary objects have been passed around astonished residents of Nunhead for years.
  10. http://www.southwarknews.co.uk/00,news,7065,6102,00.htm Reading the above nearly all the people interviewed seem positive and quite informed. Are there any odds out there for the one in Peckham going ahead and the one in the DMC or even anywhere in East Dulwich not ?
  11. Apparently it's going to get a big metal sign saying 'Nunhead' as a gift from the council. Maybe it needs something more substantial than a than a cosmetic crumb. "Peckham Rye and Nunhead have been named in a shortlist of four of the London's 'weakest link' train stations." "Passengers at Nunhead berated the absence of adequate signage or maps and lack of local information such as nearby taxi numbers. They claim visitors have no idea how to reach the cemetery from the station. Howard Francis, a local resident, said: "There should be a sign with directions that tells passengers to alight here for Nunhead Cemetery as it is such a famous landmark." Transport 2000, an independent pressure group, plans to send the findings to local authorities, the association of train operators and passenger groups to encourage them to make improvements. Tara Melton, campaigns assistant for Transport 2000, said: "We are not saying these are the worst stations in London but they were highlighted by respondents in our survey as troublesome. "Nunhead Cemetery is a local landmark but people know it is not being promoted very well. When you leave the station you have no idea about this attraction and it should be highlighted." Southwark News 2007 oct
  12. "I turn all my comments white so as to look like Paul Daniels"
  13. Back to a Needle exchange. If through this thread we have discovered that people will generally react negatively to the thought of an Exchange. what then should be done. Should the local council capitulate to one group while ignoring the other? or should everyone accept that they are needed. Is Gumboots just a convenient excuse ? I just can not see how DMP which probably treats people with a whole range of illnesses, is suddenly putting children at any more risk with a needle exchange. People have mentioned putting it in Lordship Lane but surely there are more children walking up and down than in CPR?
  14. Thanks Tillie at least someone thinks I can construct a joke x
  15. Yes just checked that Bob and you appear to be right. I have also checked about cobblers and apparently they are not meaningless and infact provide a good service to people with shoe problems. Ps Tillietrotter appears to be narcoleptic, tell her not to fall asleep near the Rosendale or her trotters could end up on the menu. I promise to work on my chips though
  16. "I remove my comments so as to look slightly taller than KO"
  17. What the 'you know sweet fa about food chip' yet wang on about banning cafe Nero, getting rid of Iceland and demolishing Somerfields in Hope that the Lord Marks & Spencer comes down from his mountain to save you all.
  18. "I remove my comments so as to look just as big as Ko."
  19. No actually the laugh has been on most of the so called foodies of ED who have been paying prices equivelant and beyond that of some top drawer west end venues. I mean ?100 is ?30each on food ?25 on drinks + vat and tip surely ? I have just walked past one DulwichGastro with main courses at 18.50 and it certainly has not won Gastro pub of london, or even come close. as the article said about the wine list "The list could bitch slap most of what's on offer in central London not merely on range but on price" so hey the starters may be a bit rich, but I am smashed on great wine at a good price, so yes I will have cheese board !
  20. I would be interested to know who complained ? and why ? .......
  21. (Reply to lollipop) It was really good fun and very inclusive. I arrived early disguised as a yucca plant. It got a bit weird when boozeboss and lukewlaker started to do some strange dance that was part of an ancient ritual to bring water out of the fountain near the pond...not sure if it worked...also noticed some pitch forks and what look like straw torches. i got a bit worried that they may try to chase me out of town. I waited till they broke to drink the blood of an organic chicken while chanting an incantation in front of a photo of ming (lib Leader) in the hope that he may develop the youthfull looks of D Beckham, oh sorry I mean, Cameron, At this point I slipped out of the side door. I had a narrow escape when one of lukedogwalkers dogs started to sniff around, but he just elected to urinate on my fake pot. I had to cover my wet foot prints with a mixture of earth and litter until I slipped quietly under a searchlight and out of bellinden don ding road. How was it for you lozzyoyolo ?
  22. Ganapati - forum prefect
