  1. It will fade in just a week or two and should resemble your natural colour quite quickly. Did you have an Inoa colour? It might be worth the colourist describing the colouring process for you. They have done it for me but I am afraid I cannot remember the ins and outs of it to tell you here.
  2. @Eliza, I think the comparison we were looking for was with Harris Dulwich, not Peckham, and Kingsdale and Harris Crystal Palace. There are so many of them now, it can get confusing.
  3. Spin? Not sure about that but the BUPA health information website states the following reasons for the questions of single jab effectiveness. - Children would need three times as many injections (six in total), which is more unpleasant because of the pain from each jab and six episodes of possible side-effects. - It could mean that fewer children have all the necessary vaccinations, increasing the levels of measles, mumps and rubella in the UK. - There may be more delay before being completely vaccinated, leaving children at risk of infection from the diseases for longer. - Single vaccines aren't licensed in the UK, and have not passed the UK's safety and effectiveness testing. Certainly point two is proven by disease modeling. I didn't know the final point before I found this information.
  4. Just saw this name for ED on the BBC News website here. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  5. Do you have to put Kingsdale as your No. 1 school or is it OK to put it No. 2?

    Keston lakes

They are definitely still intact. We tend to eat our lunch there before going to Christmas Tree Farm in Downe.
  7. This all seems perfectly normal. Both of mine were the same. I am with Fuschia and tended to go with the flow. It probably feels like a bit of a shock to start having a baby that is more awake than asleep but their patterns continue to change until they are toddler and stop having naps. Think ahead, you will one day be cursing the amount of sleep they seem to require!
  8. Gosh, certainly haven't heard anything about bad behaviour at the school but only know a few children who go who have said they really like it. This is giong to be our second choice school so am now a little worried. With regard to Harris Crystal Palace, it is worth have a very good look at their admission criteria. It is very complicated and depending on where you live may not be worth putting top. Wouldn't it be lovely to have some real choice.
  9. Afraid I am with Ondine but difficult to comment without witnessing what happened. Both child and parent could be at the end of a long day (mum at work, child at nursery) and the trip just happens to be in that golden 'child meltdown' hour. WOD, 'turn a blind eye'? What were the other passengers meant to do? Does this only happen in London?
  10. I love the budgies at Zippos! Also, the horses look well loved.
  11. Scary but great post. Glad to hear you are doing much better. Also a good news story on the response you received from the NHS.
  12. Yes and great. Shame it doesn't include closure of the road as it is an accident waiting to happen to stall holders or pedestrians.
  13. Apologies, Annaj. Hope you didn't feel I was patronising. You may find some biology text books from secondary school may be of interest to your niece. I remember reading some before I started secondary school and was able to keep up with most of it. How about this book on Amazon,Genetics for Beginnersor Genes and DNAalso found this home schooling site.
  14. James, any news on my recent request for information on future funding for STAX music centre? Is it threatened?
  15. Who will be evaluating the pilot and what are the criteria for evaluation? Will there be any independent and resident representatives involved in the decision?
  16. We have an equally inquisitive 9 year old! He has previously been interested in genetics but with a biological/health science background and a bit of rooting around my brain for stuff I learnt in high school was able to answer questions. We also sat at the computer together and I interpreted some of the information we found into more basic explanations. Now, if any one has a basic book on string theory and on the evolution of the universe I would be much appreciated (spent a very frustrating day on holiday trying to explain both of these).
  17. Couscous with peas, sweetcorn, cheese, lemon juice and a little olive oil (cold); cold pasta pesto; very occasional treat - small sausage rolls. We also try wraps (tuna or cheese and ham), crackers (high fibre) with cheese, all sorts of fruit (melon, mango, grapes, strawberries), baby bell cheese, pots of vegetables - we find celery, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber and peppers work best. Sadly neither of them like dips. Also recently tried Yo Yo fruit roll ups which went down a treat (nothing but fruit in them). If no fruit in pack give them a carton of Innocent smoothie. Hard mummy only gives then a treat like chocolate brioche or biscuits once a week and they sometimes get a pack of crisps if on a school trip. Looking forward of hearing other suggestions!
  18. When I left Oz many years (18) ago a flat white was a way to get the amazing independent coffee shops (of which there was only Italian) of not giving you a cappuccino. So, it consisted of coffee plus milk - poured - not heated and therefore flat! My other half has described the coffee that barristas are offering now as the Aussie/NZ flat white which to me sounds more like a latte. Am I wrong?
  19. Thanks Mazza7103! That is what we saw. Sounds absolutely briliant. Never heard of this race before, bet lots of my fitter friends would love to give it a go next year.
  20. Driving past the Rye late morning we noticed a large number of people involved in some sort of race. They arrived at the park on bikes but also carried another helmet on the backs. We were thinking it was some sort of triathalon but couldn't work out what sport they could do that would require a spare helmet. All we caught from their vests was ....Rob Race. Anyone know what it was?
  21. Sorry, James. Know it is off your patch physically but plenty of your constituents go there. I believe it is a borough wide facility.
  22. Cllr Barber, is there any truth in the rumour that the STAX music centre in Nunhead will have its funding withdrawn from March 2011?
  23. Your GP should be able to recommend someone and will then direct you to the Guthrie Clinic (King's private centre) to make an appointment if they work out of that clinic. Almost all specialists work some of the time for the NHS so your GP should be able to recommend. Alternatively, ask your Royal Free doctor to recommend. Do you really need to go private?
  24. Treasure hunt in Dulwich Woods, ten pin bowling at Surrey Quays, swimming party (Beckenham, Latchmere, not sure about Peckham), trip to Omni cinema in Waterloo, pizza making party at Pizza Express, go karting in Streatham (bit pricey but a whole lot of fun). Good luck
