  1. I've sold two properties without any signs up. I just asked not to have them. Anyone seriously looking for a place is online anyway. They're an eyesore. A total ban would be really popular.
  2. Why do ducks, cats and rabbits get a pass....but rats get persecuted. It's really animalist.
  3. I've always liked Brixton. The thing I miss most is the giant old hand painted London Underground sign that used to be above the tube station...now a modern glass version.
  4. Wait....did Jeremy just start a thread? :-)

  6. At the moment I'm wishing I was an out of work gangster...it would surely beat sitting in an office all day.
  7. Unsubstantiated accusations of drug peddling, thieving from the till and tax evasion....and one of the weirdest slurs ever..in capitals too..."OUT OF WORK GANGSTER". Gold.
  8. Just forget your British rights to free private healthcare and go private. Get seen immediately by skilled GP's for ?60-?70. They'll write you a prescription on the spot for whatever you need. DMC is a clown show staffed by poorly trained employees on low salaries and sooner or later they'll have their franchise revoked.

If you were looking for a libertarian left right on response from the EDW massive....it hasn't happened. Looks like broad agreement on this one.
  10. I recommend a lost treasure which Netflix dug out from an old Channel 4 crate somewhere: Cutting Edge- The Club All about an elite golf club and shot in the early 1990's - it's fascinating on a whole host of levels - and brilliantly subtle....
  11. Do you guys all get a UK Town or city? For some reason I keep getting Nice in South of France.
  12. All that oil helps pay for the healthcare numbers.. ..though it does mean it's exposed to the global barrel rate and the odd slump as a result. Canadian politics make our lot look exciting however.
  13. I like the idea of these neighbourhood "microtels" but not sure how much business it would get during the week.

    Rugby matters

Wait...you watched the greatest day of six nations rugby....in an American rib joint? When The Castle is half the distance and was full of your fellow countrymen in bobbly tweed jackets drinking the best pint of Guiness in the hood?
  15. Living single in my one bed flat sleeping on a blow up mattress because I didn't have the money for a bed. Some of the happiest days...
  16. Where to start Henry old chap.......underpopulated, beautiful , the last true wilderness on the planet, mineral rich, an attractive exchange rate and one of the highest standards of living outside of Sweden. Excellent fly fishing, positive attitude to entrepreneurs, Albertan steak. Albertan women. Bears. Quiet roads. Uncrowded ski slopes. An incredible social health care system and solid and underlying constitutional principles born of Scottish sensibilities and fairness. And best of all.....they're not American.
  17. Agree. If Boris ever makes it I'm off to Canada.
  18. It's an enticing prospect, knowing that one day we might be lucky enough to have Boris as PM.
  19. Sorry...I was just being grumpy. It's a great location and I'm sure they'll be half decent. That said I'd aim for a decent victorian garden flat and spend the premium these guys will charge you on extending it yourself, rather that pay over the odds...but thats just me.
  20. Meanwhile in a postage stamp sized garden in East Dulwich, a young professional couple with jobs at Accenture, recline in their deck chairs. Hugely overlooked and massively overpriced.
  21. Their wives have a private yoga instructor and a house keeper to iron the salmon cords. Whilst their husbands boff ropey Thai hookers at the Mandarin Oriental. Worse than all of this they actually read the "How to Spend it" supplement in the FT Weekend.
  22. You just know that the people behind this know nothing of the area, just that it's "on the turn" and a "value play". They live in Kensington, wear penny loafers and split the rest of their time between Paris and Monaco.
  23. I have to admit. When I saw this hoarding at the weekend I wanted to set fire to it. With napalm. The word "Upscale" says it all. But that is the new level of property development happening round here now. Like Mightyroar pretty much everything about this type of marketing depresses me....something to do with "core values" as it happens....
  24. Anyone else finding the current onslaught of "here's me in my kitchen" posturing from each party leader slightly nauseating? I don't want to see your f?$%ing Aga, or your wife in a tracksuit.... sort out the economy, NHS and foreign policy for this election with business-like purposeful schtick instead?

    Rugby matters

Agreed, a fantastic day of rugby. I only half like the game too. Congrats to the Irish. Went to The Castle to watch it - a wise decision in hindsight as all the other viewing options in ED are now a bit rubbish IMO.
