  2. slim picking to win, best each way bets are mckelvey, snowy morning, and butlers cabin...mccoy will do it one day. ?2.50 e.w. on 4 horses costs ?20 and as steve t points out its keeps the interest going and is a fair bit of craic ,and you never know you might just pick the winner.
  3. is it not illegal to have flashing lights?
  4. are you sure he wasnt stuffing them:-S
  5. there was a cracking one in the irish news several years ago, it was all to do with the orangemens right to march down the garvaghy road in portadown and the local residents not wanting them to, its pretty much died down now but in the mid 90s there was a fair bit of trouble about the whole right to march etc. anyway the april fool in the irish news that year was that to resolve the problem there was going to be a tunnel built under the garvaghy road so that a)the orangemen could march and b)local residents would not be disturbed. judging by the indignant callers to local radio stations and various tv interviews there was more than one who fell for it.
  6. i think you,ll find the reason she was wearing the vest was that the police told her to wear it, unfortunately like everything in the world these days the walkabout would have been risk assessed by the police and an action plan developed and the wearing of the vest would have been as a consequence of that. its a bit unfortunate that the walkabout took part in an area of london which has a reputation for violent crime and yes it dosent send out a very positive message, but i wonder if we would be making the same fuss if the walkabout had happened in a more upmarket part of town that dosent have the reputation of camberwell/peckham, i somehow doubt it.

  10. i read about this not so long ago in the guardian, i believe it was a town either in holland or northern germany where the experiment was carried out and its pretty much as you say, people were forced to concentrate on their driving due to an absence of roadside furniture and it improved road use by all concerned.

(left the telly on > obviously!) you want to try it more often asset, never a light on in our gaff in the evening, except for the box,a few candles and the glow of the fire. im forever stubbing my feet on things but hey its worth it.
  12. sean og has a point, all you ever hear on this site is people whinging about being fined for this that and the other. im no saint but i dont get fined for dropping fag butts, going through bus lanes, parking on double yellow lines, disabled bays etc. know why, because i dont do it, and thats the crux of the equation dont do it you wont get fined for it, its that simple.
