  2. Anyone know why a section of Crystal Palace Road has disappeared from Streetview?
  3. Had this property sold for this price, it would be notable. As it stands, this is just a story of greedy estate agents over reaching (shock horror).
  4. We pay just as much into the system as other parts of London, so should expect a roughly comparable service, or at least an adequate service. It shouldn't take an hour to travel 4 miles into the centre of town. That's what I mean by not good enough.
  5. It is a pretty poor design. The tunnel seems to have been broken for most of the time it's been there. The walk way just seems a bit pointless. Both Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye are crying out for a decent playground.
  6. I missed this, but presumably mosques are open to the public at any time, should people be interested in looking around, meeting people and discussing matters of faith / belief (if that's your bag)?
  7. James - can you clarify regarding Conway please?
  8. I would speak to a builder, not an architect. The former will give you a realistic assessment, based on a 'pragmatic' interpretation of the rules (an architect will not). If you look at most of the lost conversions around SE22, they've all taken slightly liberal interpretations of what you're allowed to do with roof heights. Obviously you wouldn't want to do anything to incur the wrath of the local planners, but most builders find a few inches here and there and manage to make it work without taking outrageous liberties.
  9. Yeh thanks for that. The fact remains that we have pretty poor public transport provision in this part of town.
  10. It's extremely unlikely and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be allowed anyway. I think the difference between a small area on a street being allocated for bike use and an individual household claiming sole use of the bit of road directly outside their house is pretty obvious personally.

One less parking > space The council can install a bike hanger, after consultation and with proper planning permission. They provide four new (bike) parking spaces which are available to anyone who wants to use them (on a first come, first served basis). It's not the same as a single household taking ownership of the space directly in front of their house, for their sole use.
  12. I love the fact that although they don't need to meet the pet, they do need their location. Like the wrong cat may be healed if you get the postcode wrong.
  13. Look at the boris bike map - a massive hole in provision over SE London. Look at the cycle superhighways - a massive hole in provision over SE London Look at the tube map - a massive hole in provision over SE London It's really not good enough
  14. We did have the South London Loop though, which was pretty useful. And more reliable trains running on Thameslink and into London Bridge.
  15. Public transport in this part of town is getting intolerable
  16. Ticket machine at Denmark Hill wasn't working today and as far as I know doesn't sale monthly oysters

I don't get why it's allowed - effectively it's transferring ownership of the bit of street outside a house to a private individual. It's taking away public space, limiting it's use to a single individual. It also make the environment for pedestrians much more precarious / unwelcoming. it's really not very civic minded.
  19. I think it's a shame. As a pedestrian, it feels like you're being squeezed on both sides - it removes the feeling of separation between the road and the pavement.
  20. I hate this trend for concreting front gardens. It really does change the character of a street / neighbourhood.
  21. "Kids Company did provide valuable support to many vulnerable young people, albeit the evidence shows that this was on a considerably smaller scale than it claimed in its publications and annual reports. The failures in governance that led to the collapse of the charity should not detract from the commitment and hard work of many highly dedicated individuals who worked in the organisation. e charity?s consistent message, that vulnerable children and young people must be supported with compassion and personalised care, must not be lost with the collapse of Kids Company and criticisms about the appropriateness and e ectiveness of some of its methods."

  23. Also heard 'Chime' by Orbital recently for the first time in years.
