  1. Has anyone noticed how many threads there are in the Lounge about beer?
  2. I think it's fair enough to use this thread. It's about beer more than Boss man.
  3. I'm starting to think the use of the (clearly obnoxious and made up) term 'East D' was a clever ruse to get people talking about the article. Either that, or the journo is simply a bell end.

  5. Very excited about new beer shop. One can never have too much beer ....err, that's not true, but you know what I mean.
  6. .
  7. Would be great to have a pub here now - would act as s stopping off point between ED and Bellenden Road. Problem is, the council always approve change of use based on what's viable at any given point in time - and so invariably amenity levels are frozen at the lowest point in an area's economic cycle.
  8. I wish these lazy journos would stick to talking up Queen's Park and keep out of ED.
  9. You've caught a cold.
  10. bully for you.
  11. 'Easy D'?!?! I feel sick.

I'm aware that it's still there. Apparently my parents used to go there in the 60s when the local youths would race their motorbikes / scooters between it and another SE pub (name of which I can't now remember).
  13. It was a Harvester for quite a while and did what you would expect of a Harvester. The Grove was barely open before it burnt down (was it actually open at all?).

  16. I don't think there can really be any doubt that new developments will increase the pressure on parking. But what do you want to do? Do we stop development, or build extra parking (which will likely just release latent demand)?

It was definitely considered a bit 'poncey' by the older generation.

  20. @first Mate - wasn't aware that I had, but it's something I regularly see in my street (peeps running out and moving their cars a couple of spaces to be outside their house), so may have mentioned before. I know some streets generally have problems, but there are a lot of people who get really frustrated when there is no need to. I'm up that end of the lane and as someone else mentioned, it isn't that bad for parking.
  21. Thanks AlexC. So it's part of Tsunami group? I'm not surprised they've started to change the name of their new restaurants. Hmmm, looking forward to this one.
  22. Often, when people talk about 'difficulty parking' they're just dropping the silent '...directly outside my house' part. Some peeps are very territorial about parking spaces, which is why it's always quite an emotive subject.
  23. Does any primary school in the area have designated parking? I would think it ridiculous for the school to use part of the site to provide a car park. The constant calls for more parking provision as a response to too many cars always astounds me. I never understand why Southwark insist on new flats providing off street parking. You build car parks and more people will drive. That's what happens. Who wants more cars, more congestion? If people have to park a couple of streets away and walk a couple of minutes, then that's what they'll have to do - or else they'll find an alternative mode of transport.
  24. Does anyone know whether this is, or is not the case? It seems crazy that local residents should get no say in whether or not a drop kerb is granted permission. Surely the council can't just hand over control of a section of the public roadway, to a private household, without consultation?
  25. I went past the soon-to-be sushi place on LL yesterday. It's not Tsunami as rumoured. They had a web address up which I've now completely forgotten. Anyone know what it's called (would like to Google it). Ta.
