  3. 'The way M&S have treated them'. I thought this was the lease holder's application?
  4. cle Wrote: > SE has never been better - it's just that SE5 and > SE15 are now far more interesting, varied, > creative and better connected than SE22. That's always been true, although 'interesting and varied' become less of a priority when you get a bit older and have kids, as they tend to come with a certain amount of chaos and unpredictability that children already provide plenty of.
  5. Looks like there is going to be a loss of two morning trains (7:31 and 8:15) post 1st September too: http://www.southernrailway.com/download/31749.9/27-june-september/
  6. Thanks for the heads up TB2.
  7. Considering that Peckham is all of half a mile away and yet you class ED as a 'trip', your comments suggest no small amount of parochialism themselves. northlondoner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh and back on topic - ED is charming and friendly > in its own way. 8. East dulwich was a beautiful world of love and caring until last week when suddenly everyone started screaming 'pig' at me. I blame The Others.... And Clapham generally. That said, I am a 500lb Gloucestershire Old Spot.

  10. A retro arcade /bar has just opened in Peckham - Four Quarters
  11. Found a picture online: Sure it closed more than 5-6 years ago.
  12. Didn't Bruno's used to be a gun shop?
  13. 5 years - can't believe it's been that long. Now Gails
  14. I do admire the staff who have taken this action. As someone stated above, it's not an easy thing to do, especially when you're on a low wage. But, Picturehouse do pay some of the highest wages of any of the cinema chains. They are probably one of the fairer employers in a not very fair sector. That's not exactly a compliment, but why is everyone going after one of the better chains to highlight a sector wide issue (I understand why the staff are, but the cause celebre)? More generally, on the LLW - whilst it is outrageous that hard working people can no longer afford to live in London and have to be subsidised by the state - simply increasing some minimum wages alone will not fix it. Fundamentally housing and inequality are the issues. There is a lot more that could be done on both of these issues which would have more impact than paying Ritzy staff LLW. It's always going to be difficult to convince individual employers to pay more than their competitors, it has to be a sector wide, mandated intervention. Specifically in relation to the Ritzy (and I stand to be corrected on this), haven't they agreed to pay the equivalent of the LLW subject to staff meeting service standards? Not saying that's great, but it talks to the first point above.
  15. @ James Barber - James, I think you may have said before that Waitrose have previously showed some interest in leasing the building as is? Any idea what happened, or why the lease holder wasn't interested? Apologies if this wasn't you, I can't really remember the details now, hence the question.
  16. Sorry to hear about this Huggers, it's a horrible thing to happen to anyone. Hope your son's OK.
  17. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >....The residents of Ashbourne Grove experienced > such an increase in parking stress that many then > proceeded to pave over their front gardens. Why is this still allowed? Surely there should be planning restrictions put in place to stop people turning their front gardens into parking lots.
  18. I still find it galling that Southwark Council spent millions moving their office from the centre if the borough out to flash new offices on the edge if the city. Makes it much more difficult Goethe majority of their constituents to attend such meetings. Such a bad use of taxpayers money.
  19. I imagine it involves a huge development of 'luxury' 1 and 2 bed flats and a two fingered gesture to those already living in SE London.
  20. Totally agree with this. Although the cinema could make ED more of a destination. ???? 21. Maybe a gentle swell? Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The property is far to small for a Tsunami.
  22. The first bit of your post (below), I think is broadly true. Although this could change with the new cinema coming. May be able to sustain a few more bars (or at least the ones already here). Adventure bar was always just bad though. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ED has grown in confidence as a predominantly > family orientated area.
