Should re-title this the Trinny and Sussnah thread. Trinny I suggest you get a mirror and then you can just rant at yourself. You come across as s bit of an Alf Garnett sort of fella.

Like when you were a kid going to the coast with your family. "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet"

Forest Hill Road supermarket is both well stocked and is open Xmas day, nice to get out now that pubs aren't open. Not great on turkeys I expect (for a Turkish shop!) but you could rustle up yourself up a continental Xmas. Lidl had bird within a bird within a bird for all you death for no reason people.

Oh thought that this was a political discussion. There are loads of first to fourth generation poles around here so thought it a bizarre question. Give Forest Hill Road Supermarket a ring, or Khans in Peckham. Turkish run but stock Polish stuff. Turkish bakery in Catford Bridge too. I'd ask my Polish neighbours but they are a bit obtuse, not sure if it is an Eastern European sense of humour.

Beers still 1'6 a pint in the Ivy - they have an old price list up - but they fail to accept offers of 7 1/2 p. Go down to the London Transport Museum, or its depot at Acton when we are allowed again. Interesting the see that buses were superior to trams in terms of comfort, although modern versions are very different. Forest Hill was seen as a wonderful place for a night out as the trains, trams and buses met there. Rather than a congested people unfriendly junction it is now.

Measured post. Cheers. Bicknell, suggest you go back in a time machine, and tell those who instigated our travel network of the need to get train lines, which also spawned the underground, and horse drawn buses, which with tram lines, spawned the bus network of today, to make better plans for the future. Whilst you are at it the land owners that would not allow rail network to go into central London, hence the ring of terminus stations. Oh and broad gauge too. Alternatively if you could go back in your time machine and change world history so that we became part of the soviet bloc, so we could plan our network properly (my fave is Budapest, joined up and trolley buses and trams too). Or that Hitler had successfully levelled London so we could rebuild like say Rotterdam. Or that Christopher Wren had not kept to the medieval street plan, so we could have wide boulevards like Paris. As my local MP wrote when I complained years ago about Thameslink not stopping at London Bridge in the mornings, "if only our Victorian forefathers had realised the success of their networks" (Bottle neck at LB which has been sorted over 100 years later). London's gone five steps forward, and one back, since my time in the metropolis in terms of public transport. I see that as glass 4/5 full.

Local authority should have taken such things into account - not a great borough but here's an example in Kensington and Chelsea https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/committees/Document.ashx?czJKcaeAi5tUFL1DTL2UE4zNRBcoShgo=Yf7zbQZ%2FvJl07MrTAgdHx9Y7o8%2Bc2SwE2R62J2xrNUfp6KR1FOnJOA%3D%3D&mCTIbCubSFfXsDGW9IXnlg%3D%3D=hFflUdN3100%3D&kCx1AnS9%2FpWZQ40DXFvdEw%3D%3D=hFflUdN3100%3D&uJovDxwdjMPoYv%2BAJvYtyA%3D%3D=ctNJFf55vVA%3D&FgPlIEJYlotS%2BYGoBi5olA%3D%3D=NHdURQburHA%3D&d9Qjj0ag1Pd993jsyOJqFvmyB7X0CSQK=ctNJFf55vVA%3D&WGewmoAfeNR9xqBux0r1Q8Za60lavYmz=ctNJFf55vVA%3D&WGewmoAfeNQ16B2MHuCpMRKZMwaG1PaO=ctNJFf55vVA%3D I'm still very supportive of LTNs but there could be action taken to improve things for partially sighted and otehrs who may have similar needs

Best is we started doing what our parents, grand parents and great grandparents did in WWII and keep chickens and rabbits that we could then slaughter ourselves. Obviously if you have a yard. Or better still we all had grazing rights eg using Goose Green for our goats and sheep. That would elevate SE22 well above other similar areas of London. -
BB please avoid ignorant (unaware rather than stupid) posts - phenomenal turn around in Kent involving local and national teams, voluntary sector and the like. It's easy to criticise. Can we save that for the bigger picture of why we are where we are with nine days to the end of transition? PS disappointing that the Beeb can't make this (Kent) a major story in particular the speed of response and cross agency working.

Virtual chinking of glasses Sparticus. And a virtual fight outside after closing time. Younger posters will not remember brawls inside and outside pubs. It always seemed to occur on a Friday night, for example when we had seen a film in Streatham. Not sure if I miss that though.
-
In deed, I did apologise. It was a point about pubs that didn't follow the rules, not all are used by old school racists, although I expect there is a belief by some in this demographic that Covid-19 is a conspiracy theory. Happnes on the left too.

Thanks, I do in deed know a lot, and I use this in my profession. I've only spoken in generalities on this thread, others know far more about SE22. I'm just a road user and have changed my travel arrangements accordingly, generally appreciating the changes but occasionally being frustrated. Big picture for me. PS good post.

TfL: huge increase in walk & cycle casualties in ED
malumbu replied to rollflick's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Excellent post by garages about wider problems and the need to educate. Knee jerk by Nigello that all cyclists need birching Keep up the constructive posts. But Malumbu quit stirring. -
Latest from those 'eco nazis' Sustrans. Thought it was a good read: https://sustrans-info.org.uk/6EB-76JPS-DD1B73C40B24C94FA1PZC872EDE79EEC3C0AA7/cr.aspx

TfL: huge increase in walk & cycle casualties in ED
malumbu replied to rollflick's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Agreeing with your points KK, wasn't intended to be facetious. Pees me off the lack of impact that they have. Elsewhere the comment on a William Rose Low Pedestrian Network was facetious. Getting worried now that I am confusing my readers. Redpost I was looking for somebody posting under the name 'TBH' - it's been a long day. And only 6.30 -

Posted before on this thread but they need to introduce Low Pedestrian Neighbourhoods in this part of LL. Perhaps some planters forcing people to the other side of the road. Obviously winners and losers if this was done and no doubt those who don't usually use the other side of the street will be peed off on pedestrian displacement. -
Yes paying to drive. Good.

WTF do the keyboard warriors have to yet again equate everything with making the world more cycle friendly with pollution. Also do your research, the most modern cars emit much less pollution than in previous years and decades. Yes KK 20mph zones, lower harm to both pedestrians and to cyclists when 2 tonnes of metal hit you. Can you imagine the squealing if the 20mph was enforced? Back to the subject, I've looked at casualty maps over the years and on some of the hotspots eg E&C and Blackfriars Bridge I've never had problems. I expect an awful lot would be to do with familiarity of routes. I've always thought London roads were designed for me to get to places. By push bike. If you were frightened of accidents you'd never go anywhere, walk, push bike and motor bike. One reason I stopped motorcycling was that I found cycling far less dangerous. I used to come in from almost Essex to central London, 15 miles of fighting the traffic, get to Gants Hill and wind it up on the dual carriageway. I seem to be repeating myself on various threads so I need to refine and standardise the message, until it gets into your braiiiiins - four wheels good, two wheels better (with credit to George Orwell). Good night. -
Just reinforces some of the stereotypes, in fact not even sure why I read it or could be bothered to make a comment, in fact what is the point of me?

Issue is Trinny the title of the thread is inappropriate as this is your view and you could argue that this could be seen as defamation - Admin be aware. Now if you started with a "what do you reckon to Kings" or "help I am having problems with Kings" that encourages more constructive comment rather than the dangers of a whinge fest. My views - this is a symptom of the NHS as a whole rather than one particular hospital. But I get quite protective of KCH irrespective of some of the clunky admin that I have seen due to the service that they have provided my family and I. If you want to have a broader discussion on customer service, ease of use etc I could rank as follows Central government - excellent in terms of user interface, disappointing in actually getting to speak to someone Local authorities - a little 'less good' Utilities - often quite awful Retailers - highly variable (well done Whitestuff BTW) Ryanair - the pits BA - once excellent but long since fallen from grace There is a thread somewhere about irrational rage, wish I could find it, but really good if you want to just have a moan rather than ask for advice. Many years ago I was struggling with one of the on line travel companies and got some great advice on this thread. I'm sadly an ex whinger myself.

Ah Chelsea Embankment. Not my favourite cycle superhighway as this encourages dangerous/fast riding. Funny that I would criticise a segregated cycle way. Similarly the embankment cycle path is too narrow, risking head on collisions and sometimes I prefer to be on the main road. And at quiet times it is taken over by joggers. Interested in your reaction Rocks to my perverse posting.
