  1. I don't know if Dulwich Fox is right about crime, but I know he's right about how pedestrianisation has ruined Rye Lane. Before there was a bus stop within easy reach of any shop, now it's a a longer walk, while probably carrying shopping, which was the whole purpose of the visit. And the fact that trains from ED Station are only every half hour hasn't helped either.
  2. Like the Village, you mean?
  3. Why oh why did you put ideas into their heads? As Spartacus says this is something they would think quite reasonable. Let's face it, if you'd suggested shooting all car owners they'd probably agree..
  4. Many years ago I was listening to a radio phone in where a woman was trying to get a bird, currently in her garden, identified. The panel suggested various birds, eventually setting on one bird which they said was about the size of a blackbird. "Oh no" said the caller "It's about 2 foot tall" It was something that had escaped from the local zoo
  5. Saw the buzzard again this lunchtime, circling around the Barry Rd, Upland's area I would think
  6. Just spotted the first clothes moth of the season in the bedroom. Does this count?
  7. A great shame about Callow's. They've always been very helpful.
  8. These are all these very nice and to be commended and I've both donated and taken books. But they don't begin to address the problem that we've had hardly any viable library service since the first lock-down. Supermarkets, shops, banks and the PO has provided services. We're paying for the library, as ratepayers, and if we don't complain and stress that there are a lot of people who want a functioning service,I foresee that in the future this will be used as a reason for drastically cutting the library services.
  9. Get it re-covered if you're tired of it?
  10. Just had 7 letters arrive having had none for about 10 days
  11. It all seems to have slowed down/stopped again after some attempts after Christmas to get the deliveries moving again
  12. There was a militeria shop on LL, Sue, but I remember my boys spending their pocket money in a very small model shop near the fish and chip shop. It's now a house.
  13. A charity shop (can't remember which charity) on North X Rd near the junction with Crystal Palace Rd. Now converted into a house. Also Cramers, the watch repair shop a bit lower down. A model/war games shop near Emily's fish and chip shop.
  14. Shows how much the council actually cares about air quality. I never thought they gave a monkey's for their ratepayers convenience but I was prepared to believe they might want cleaner air. Why couldn't they open the side roads? Obviously no-one from The Village is being affected
  15. Currently very bad jams on all roads leading to the LL roundabout. It's being re-built, I think and there are temporary traffic lights
  16. Also it's asking to stop delivering letters on Saturdays. In spite of the profit! The trick would be to put letters into large empty boxes. Perhaps they'd actually get delivered then.
  17. Don't you ever read a book, DulwichDaddio? If you are a daddio, don't your children read? Can you afford to buy new books every week? Does everyone you know own their own computer and so doesn't need to use the ones in the libraries?
  18. It's just an over-blown case of "What our Whatsit said to our Whoever at Aunty X's funeral. And Uncle Z looked at me funnily". No good would come of writing that up for the local paper. I think Oprah should tale some of the responsibility for airing this sort of tittle tattle if she prides herself on being a professional interviewer, rather than just out to make money, which has been her standpoint in the past. She must realise it would only cause damage.
  19. It set the door bell off twice, which was very worrying that time of night
  20. Best of luck, apbremer. Last year I noticed quite by accident that Camberwell was open, not Dulwich of course, for a very short space of time. Also Peckham, they tell me. No publicity, web-site out of date and saying they were closed. What a service.
  21. Seems to be being cleared up this morning
  22. You need permission to leave stuff such as building material on the road. It would be interesting to know if the people in North X Rd have done so
  23. If you've got too much, Alice, my pond seems empty of frogspawn this year
  24. Multi millionaires bleating from California about how tough their life was Trying living in a tower block, 3 kids, two bedrooms, lift broken. Zero hours contract, lose your pay if someone's ill. Chronic illnesses. loneliness And so and so on. Some of us might think that this is tough. I've been tipped from indifference to disgust
  25. A man and two children coming down CP road on an electric scooter. Didn't look entirely safe to me
