  1. I'm curious too. I saw silver van towed away then when I went out there was a lot of white 'gunk' on the back of my car as if there had been a shoot out with Bugsy Malone-style splurge guns.
  2. Maybe the Council has a joblot of yellow paint they need to use. https://dfijamiesamman.wordpress.com/2010/11/03/double-yellow-madness/double-yellow-small2/

Not sure how effective a deterrent CCTV is - my bike was locked up inside Herne Hill station next to ticket machine right in front of CCTV when the bog standard front wheel was removed. All caught on camera.
  4. I've been told by a ticket collector that if you have to queue for more than five minutes you are entitled to board the train without a ticket without paying a fine. (can't find this info in writing though so you'll have to do it at your own risk!) > When there's only one ticket machine and there's a > queue or a confused person having trouble with it > (happens all the time) you can end up with a > choice of travelling without a ticket or missing a > train (that may set you back by an hour, given > connections). >
  5. Anyone had someone ring their bell and ask if a cab had been ordered* when the door was answered? We had one this afternoon and for some reason it didn't feel right. *it hadn't
  6. Hi Strange thing has happened today. I posted a set of keys in SE22 to someone in Essex earlier this week and when they received them the jiffy bag had been opened ? and two sets of keys were in it! Bit of a long shot, but if you have sent a set of keys/or are expecting a set DM me with with description. Sounds like one for Derren Brown.
  7. Got letter for him with our address on it.
  8. Do you or the police have any ideas how they make their getaway? Do they have a car or do they take things small enough to get into a rucksack and walk away with them? I often see people just sitting in their cars doing nothing during the day. I wouldn't assume they are up to no good but if burglars are using cars I'll keep a sharper lookout. 9. I don't know if this is something for Admin, but are random threads disappearing from the site and if so why? I saw a thread about a week ago about someone overhearing 'burglars' talking outside their flat which I can't now find and today a thread that I started myself about new films in SE22 seems to have vanished.

  12. Typical - you wait ages for a film featuring SE22 then two come out on the same day. If you like very low budget British comedies you'll spot Lordship Lane in both SuperBob and the somewhat weirder Aaaaaaaaaah!

I think that was intended as a joke (cough/phlegm, geddit?)
  14. I've just driven from Townley Road left onto EDG and it's harder and tighter for a car to turn left, never mind a coach. There is a left turn from New Cross Road into Pomeroy Street which is nowhere near as sharp and has been made no left turn in recent years. Who makes these decisions? Also as a pedestrian surely it would be more assuring to have the islands in the middle of each crossing. Why have they gone?
  15. He did a series on Sky about cycling through France last year ? he didn't seem to do much cycling but he did wear lycra in the ads.
  16. I think it's way to hilly around here, but what would seem viable to me would be a rack of bikes at Camberwell Green that you could use to go up Walworth Road to Elephant or along Camberwell New Road to Oval tube. Saw three kids in Walworth Road KFC late last night with their bikes in the shop.
  17. Pretty sure it's ok after 7pm. I often drive in it & haven't had a ticket yet!
  18. The only thing that irritated me about Louisa was her habit of putting her name at the bottom of her posts!
  19. I don't want to turn this into a cyclists v drivers debate but I've been overtaken by cyclists on the slightly downhill stretch of East Dulwich Grove from Townley junction while observing the new speed limit.
  20. Actually isn't there meter parking in Holly Grove/Elm Grove? 50p and a slightly longer walk & problem solved?
  21. I definitely saw Sean Lock at the EDT, probably around 1995. I also saw Eddie Izzard do impro show probably 1995ish - it was warm-up for his West End run and the queue stretched down Lordship Lane. It is possible that Nunhead legend Lewis Schaffer opened for him.

I don't think they would all do that - if they are heading west or into the heart of ED I expect they would go straight through the village and turn right at the lights at the junction with Red Post Hill - thus causing a jam and danger for cyclists there. And if they were heading into town they could go straight up Red Post Hill.

In that case surely they can come up with a simpler, and cheaper, plan that keeps Townley as two lanes?
  24. I presume there is an obvious reason why not, but why can't there simply be a right-hand turn green light filter at townley rd as there is further down to turn right towards North Dulwich station?
  25. Hey, you can't just casually lob in that Burton & Taylor lived in Dulwich. More info please. Anyone? Why no blue plaque?
