  3. Terrible news. I was a bit taken aback to hear Andrew Castle on LBC this morning referring to ED as ?a rough area? where you ?really have to watch yourself? Maybe he?s right after this.
  4. That?s a free name, there would be a fee for a more professional domain. 5. Indeed, and Admin?s snobbish views are irrelevant, surely! That's it. Yes I must say I felt the same when I saw the exchange between Tropicbyjennifer and Admin. Unfair and unduly harsh. In these circumstances when a woman is running a business at home, surely she can be allowed to provide (and prove) her trading address to Admin privately.

  8. Saied has been round to prune the fruit trees which he planted a few years ago. I usually do this myself but felt they needed his expert eye this year. As always, he was reliable, friendly and full of useful advice. Did a great general tidy up too. Thanks Saied.
  9. This place is great. Fantastic beer selection, friendly staff. When we went last week there was a pop up menu by Stranger Naans (home made flatbreads & wraps) - turns out they're going to be there daily from tomorrow onwards which is great news because the food was ace! http://www.strangernaans.co.uk/thefood/
  10. Not clear as to the meaning of your post, did you mean there was no need to post on the main board? I did wonder about that, but thought it may have a greater reach. I never look at the Lost/Found board unless I've actually lost or found something, but always look at this one, particularly if it mentions my own road.

  12. Thank you, both. Will pass this info on.
  13. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right section for this post, but here goes. Posting for a friend who is caring for a close family member at home. He has advanced dementia and very poor mobility. Social services are involved but she wants to explore some private options. She asked me to post here to ask if anyone has experience of, or can recommend, a carer who can help for an hour or two most evenings. This would be mainly to help get him to bed, so it would be quite physical work. A local person would be ideal as the time required is short (there are other carers involved so this would be to supplement what they do) This is for the short term but it looks like a live in carer may be be the better solution eventually. Any advice or personal recommendations for either or both scenarios would be much appreciated. Thanks x
  14. Oh no...not another Co-op, please!
  15. Renata, I tried to pm you but your mailbox is full.
  16. Thanks for the replies. Should have said - no-one has access to the wild part of the garden! Tenants would love to get their hands on it!
  17. Hi all. I live next door to a large house in multiple occupancy. There?s a big garden that has been totally neglected for the last few years and is now a complete jungle, with bindweed, vines and brambles galloping over the fences. There are foxes living there and we frequently hear fighting - in fact some neighbours have recently expressed concern over the safety of their cats. Polite emails to the landlord, who lives locally, are met with lame excuses or silence. Just posting to ask if anyone has advice as to what we can do in this situation, if anything. Thanks.
  18. 007 came to install a garden lamp, assemble new garden furniture, and dispose of the old stuff. Everything was done really well, so pleased with their work and 'can do' attitude. I've used them before and no doubt will again. Thanks Vic and Carl. http://www.007handyman.co.uk/index.html Helen
  19. No water here yesterday and earlier today which was quickly established to be just this flat. I don't know if this is relevant to your situ, charmanar but we now have water after a DIY solution involving a tarpaulin, an extension cable and a fan heater pointed at the wall where the supply enters the flat. Pipes are buried in the wall.....wall warmed up bit by bit.....water was restored! The pressure is a bit weak at the moment, but I think that's the leak on LL reported above.
  20. Hope this link works.....sharing from Neighbourhood Vet FB page..... https://www.facebook.com/theneighbourhoodvet/posts/1389035094533634
  21. OP has said he/she has tried to speak to the neighbours and got a dismissive response. I'm baffled by that kind of behaviour - if I was causing that kind of noise stress to my neighbours I'd a) want to know and b) do something about it ffs. People are so endlessly disappointing sometimes.
  22. dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Shame to see the beautiful Victorian style multi > directional lights replaced by those ugly out of > character single directional lights. Why? Read Renata's post! Not saying I like it, but there is at least some consideration behind the decision.
  23. This has always been an important issue for me because I can be a bit over sensitive. In my experience it comes down to 3 factors. 1. Personalities (nice neighbourly types....or not) 2. One's own perception of noise 3. Luck - how the properties are configured/used, who lives there (elderly couple vs young family of 4, you can fit both in a 2 bed flat) and what kind of people they are (see 1.)
  24. That?s a really good idea (I?m away or I?d do it myself) but how ridiculous we can?t depend on the relevant authorities to sort it out.
