  1. So where is this 'Dulwich Forum' then? Google only brings up the EDF and West Dul.
  2. I completed the census online with the code that arrived with the letter, and have since received at least 2 letters nagging me to do it. 3. Thanks for the rec for Lee Garvey - he was most helpful.
  4. Another rec for Lee, he is helping with some plumbing noises issues in our building, reliable, knowledgeable and a thoroughly nice bloke. His number is 07881 277385.

  6. KK, thanks. Seems it could have a number of causes. Inkmaiden - thanks, I have contacted him.
  7. What I really need is the type of plumber who won't give up until he's identified and solved the problem however long that takes! Not one who dismisses it as this or that and walks away. Anyone know such a plumber?

  9. Hi all When the shower or taps are turned on in the flat upstairs there is an audible hum or whine which wakes us up every morning. It gets gradually louder, to the point it becomes an earworm. According to a plumber we spoke to, this is caused by water pressure and nothing can be done. I have never come across the noise anywhere else which makes me wonder if there might be additional issues particular to this property which are causing the noise. The problem seems to be specifically the flat upstairs which is owned by an absentee and unhelpful landlord who seems to think we have to just put up with it - does anyone have any experience of this, and got any advice? Overhill Road. Thanks!
  10. I think the 3 stars are a bit mean, having read the review itself. Surely the stars refer not only to the experience on the night but also to the context - not a flashy West End joint, but a new, small neighbourhood restaurant. Mr Miller concedes in his last paragraph that, for what it is, this place is very good indeed. Irritatingly wordy and patronising style, and what's the relevance of a coat mix up anyway? I haven't been yet, but now defensively bristling somewhat on la BB's behalf! "The East Dulwich Forum (a Paradiso of unintentional comedy, a Pillow Book of misplaced amour propre, a Sun Tzu?s Art of War of advanced passive-aggressive techniques)" Oh please.
  11. Just want to add my positive experience with Oskars - new (quality) fence, reasonable price, good communication, nice guy.
  12. erm....isn't it possible this man may have a condition?

I don't mind threads like that. They're fine. It's the puerile bickering that gets me.

So tedious for those of us making the mistake of reading this thread thinking it's about the closure of Swadesh. zzzzz
  15. "Detectives released an image of a man wanted for questioning in connection with a series of sexual assaults on buses in Lewisham and Southwark" Never been attracted to buses myself.... Good news about the arrest.
  16. Exactly this - especially the mud! 17. Repair underway...
  18. I'm no fan of all this anti car stuff (I drive everywhere) but have to reluctantly concede that pulling out of my road (overhill, onto underhill) can involve an uncomfortable degree of guesswork due to parked vehicles on both corners. Traffic heading north is downhill and often travelling faster than it should be. Sight lines are poor, to put it mildly.

I thought there were some thought provoking points in this post.....until the last bit.

  22. Well I popped in earlier and had a 'Piermont Green' juice (apple/spinach/cucumber) which was freshly made and very tasty, albeit not exactly cheap. Had a good chat with the guy working there who is new I believe. Some Bach was playing which gave it a classy vibe, but as a classical musician I might be biased! Fruit & veg all looked really good to me. It seems to be a work in progress. I had some time to kill but there was nowhere to sit. Definitely scope and space for a couple of tables and chairs which they are considering I think. Part greengrocer, part deli, part juice & coffee bar. Maybe it has an identity problem at the moment but there are good ideas being tried out and it's a great spot so I wish them all the best.
  23. Each to their own! I thought it was quite fun.
