  5. why cant meat be ordered over the phone and picked up a bit like the organic veg box type thing ,funnily they wont take credit cards or cheqies in wr which is odd in this day and age ? they could do all the orders late friday and they could be collected with a ticket on sat morning .......ie .5 of akilo of mince one fr chicken a dozen eggs a large goose stuffed with other wild game birds till we reach a lark .......143 pounds please ...blah blah
  6. as i said before we could all moan on forever and dont get me started on rude and unfriendly bank tellers in peckham !!!!!arrrrgghhhhhhhhhh most people are friendly in shops in east dulwich imo, my personal gripe is when they ignore you and are on the phone when you actually want to ask something else but they just take your money and turn back to the call the guys in budgens deserve a medal for the rudeness ive witnessed from customers in there, as well asdealing with constant shoplifting which does blight east dulwich trust me . i barely hear a please or a thank you i always send them chocs and a christmas card
  7. i love the guys in dulwich diy . and they are consistantly helpful they do have a very good sense of humur though so if you dont ..........? they told a girl from green and blue she needed proof of age to buy glue the other day they were joking :))
  8. i know lets all just never go out again and just get some 49 p beers in nad sit on here with nothing to talk about not even the price of beer

  10. well sorry folks i thought it was dreary and dull but im sure it will improve
  11. i guess we all have differing experiences in different shop and cafes etc . like our personal relationships some days we're in a good mood somedays not .i always try to help mums with prams if i see them trying to struggle with shop door etc . i was in le chandeier with a friend and her child aged three the other day , the owner could not hae been more charming to him so maybe when they first opened they were tired, stressed out and things have settled down now surely we have to give people a second chance
  12. they dont even do pizzas at the mag an more its PIES THESE DAYS !! GOD YOU LOT AND I KNOW WHAT THE SHOP NEXT TO WHITE STUFF IS GOING TO BE AND ITS NOT SHOES or pizza the gowlett as stated above makes te best pizzas and of course:) its the best pub locally imo :)
  13. all business is risk and hard work ! but the maths still tell me its a good idea as long as the stalls are filled ..i will watch with interest lordship lane is not as busy as some assume during the weekdays . and i think the zenoria street residents have a point ....just beacuse they already have parking problems why should they accept more .
  14. sadly the lovely but expensive childrens shop called RAISIN on east dulwich road has closed down i pass it on my way home although i dont have children i have bought a few gifts and it was a very beautiful shop .i think people might have over estimated east dulwich .....maybe foxtons included ?
  15. nice idea the rent on it was 60,000k per year when a mate of mine looked into it to use as a small local theatre /cinema unfortunately it proved unfeasble both in the planning sense and the cost i guess charging people about 400 pounds a month will be a nice little earner for someone

  17. ps the bouncer is friendly polish and bleeding freezing tonight no doubt tried again for tea and a desert earlier at about 6 was very nice { yummy rhubarb brulee}
  18. right on keef and we'd best not go in if were dead old a bit deaf or use a walking stick either . all of this i have witnessed in my humble opinion some of their meat is way to cheap to be organic ......but what do i know
  19. THAT IS A NICE PHOTO.....i agree ...but we already have a square in peckham its next to the willalsop library its called PECKHAM SQUARE . FARMERS MARKET MUSIC and events etc i remember when peckham had a sainsburys with mahogany fittings a polish delicatessen in the alley by the station a marks and spncers with food hall ! a c and a , a british homes stores great for lighting . a cinema where the dole office is now .an alternative book store . a cafe with a gaggia and formica called the como jones and higgins department store i cried when they demolished that . we used to have an open air pool/lido on the rye basically these planners should be shot and a canal which was near whittens . all the timber used to be floated in TRUE filled in in the 70's imagine it now would be fantastic backdrop to the library and a true centtre of peckham {i agree about the hair }from all those hair etension places .OH AND I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY TO PECKHAM RYE STATION IT IS SAFE AS FAR as im concerned , whereas i find east dulwich station scary and lonely but its all a matter of what you get used to

  21. this has prompted me to consider where are the war poets of this fledgling century ? my father fought in italy and africa and he was shot in the head in 1944 ,he survived with a brutal treppaning and ill health he died when i was 7 too young to hear about the war first hand my mother says he never discussed it like so many who witnessed horror i have his medals i read all of the posts above with interest and like the subject of the holocaust i believe we must never forget and we must educate our children in this regard also a fine book to put you off war is 'trench warfare 1914 -1918' by tony ashworth and ' the mammoth book of war diaries and letters can only scratch the surface of the the human loss {edited by jon e lewis } im a newcomer to the edf and i feel ive put my foot in it already .........sorry that was not my intention
