  1. Lilly123 - any chance of a bit of punctuation? It would really help!
  2. Jackangel - sometimes the answer will be yes - do not post. Especially if you have a straight question that has already been answered (eg "does anyone know what is happening to the Walsh Glazing shop?"). Alternatively, if you search and a similar/same thread already exists, post there rather than starting a new topic on the same theme - so we don't end up with a fragmented discussion. Searching for existing threads doesn't always mean really old threads - someone could have posted along the same lines in the last 24 hours say - the multiple new FHT threads are good examples of this.
  3. This came up on a couple of threads recently - how about putting together some sort of posting guide for newbie forum-ites? Could be a sticky at the top of each room? Or mailed to new members when they register? I was thinking of something practical to complement the more legally focused "About this forum" post at the top of this room. Wikipedia has a good starting point which we could tailor/adapt? For example: * Be courteous to other forum members. * Before creating a new topic thread, search to see if a similar topic already exists. * Follow standard grammar and spelling rules. * Try to post in the correct section. * Stay on-topic. * Avoid double posting and Crossposting. * Respond to topics started by others more often than starting your own. * Don't resurrect a very old topic if nothing significant will be added. * Be objective - think before you post. Wikipedia - Netiquette Apologies if I have not followed my own guidance and this has been done before (I did search and couldn't find anything!)
  4. That's a shame. What did the manager say when you complained? (Gowlett or Mon Petit Chou are two other options btw - do a search on 'pizza' to find a few more...)
  5. Spotted Richard Armitage, who played Guy of Gisborne in robin Hood and married the Vicar of Dibley, outside William Rose last week.
  6. "My mother still has the dress she wore when she married my father and it has never been worn since." That's the point! ?2k for something that will be worn once. Who cares if it got ruined after the event - it's not like it's going to be needed again. Weren't Asda doing them for ?35 last year? (a man writes...)
  7. Louis Vuitton are doing on for ?850, so anything less than that is good going. http://bp2.blogger.com/_lGGON62lkE8/RjiqEccX5LI/AAAAAAAAB5I/ANVmjTgWmLU/s1600-h/LVOE+Canvas.jpg (Cheapest I found on the net was 9p - but the catch is you have to buy 10,000...
  8. Hiya GiddyG. Oglander Bar also has a pool table if you are in the area and the ones in the Wishing Well or the Gowlett are busy.
  9. Oh dear, I'm afraid I'm going to have to make it 9 out of 9 on the food front - we called in the other weekend and ordered a couple of sandwiches - took over an hour and both were wrong (goats cheese sandwich with no cheese/ steak sandwich on wrong bread). We did point it out to the management and put it down to teething troubles following the refit. On the plus side, the staff were apologetic, I like what they had done with the 'snug' upstairs, and no smoking throughout is a winner for me. Will be back for drinks but not food I think.
  10. Hi mumra, hope you weren't too shaken up by your mysterious 'visitors'. We live close by so will keep an eye out for any shifty characters. We have also had a visit from a scam artist (claiming she lived several doors down and her purse had been stolen and she needed money to buy her starving children some food) - probably the same one. Our friends in Barry Road were also hit in a similar fashion - this time v late at night by a woman claiming to be pregnant. Good to hear that the police are doing something about it - when our friends reported it at ED police station they didnt seem very interested.
  11. Nothing about it on their website - I just took a look. But they have converted a very similar church in Notting Hill with stunning results (and a price tag to match no doubt!)
  12. Hi Serenity, welcome to the forum. I agree with you on the new look FHT - I called in on Saturday. Heaven forbid that this is the mysterious hands of PR at work here, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt... (there is already a thread on the new FHT btw - always a good thing to check before posting) :)
  13. I called in on saturday - the refit has been very well done - lots of original features preserved, friendly staff, relaxed seating areas and a great outdoor space. Not sure what the old school locals will make of it, but it is a welcome addition and makes my list of favourite pubs in ED.
  14. How about Springers Wine Bar opposite Dulwich Hospital? Been there with the in-laws before. Never heard it mentioned on the forum before come to think of it, but it was the scene of my very first meal out in SE22 about 6 years ago. And surprised to hear mixed views of Le Chardon, been there many a time and has always been excellent - especially the potatoes dauphinois (sp?)
  15. Also saw a sign on the adventure playground (in the top corner, up by the skate ramps) that it was being regenerated and due to reopen in June.
  16. I like the little outbuilding/stable block conversion opposite Franklins - behind the tyre shop. Was only converted a year or so ago. And not a favourite, but certainly qualifies as unique/unusual is the house at the bottom of goodrich road (opp end from the school) which has an underground room in the front garden with a glass skylight thing (er I'm not doing a very good job of explaining this...)
  17. Quick update - apparently his filming involved him running up to people in the park and flashing them... Did anyone witness the full monty? Or see his partner in crime Justin Lee Collins?
  18. Clearly ED is the place to be filming these days, what with the kev-ster dropping by every month, and now Alan Carr is doing some stuff here (the buck-toothed comedian from the Friday Night Project, not the recently deceased stop smoking guy). He was in the park with a camera crew last week. Not sure what he was filming, but he was having lunch afterwards in the Rye Hotel wearing a rather fetching yellow shirt with a picture of Ozzy Osbourne stuck on it for reasons unknown...
  19. Jim Robinson from Neighbours in SE22! cool!
  20. Here's the Heber Arms for those of you who didn't have the pleasure... http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/images/southwark/east-dulwich/heber-arms-01624-350.jpg
  21. ffs stop for breath woman!
  22. cheers j-mo - just what I was looking for :)
  23. Peckhamites - how boring - how about 'Trotters'?
  24. Not really - took me 5 days to think that up :-$
  25. Getting back on topic, would we consider our neighbours in Bellenden to be Bell-ends?
