  1. My baby out grew the original bee at 12 months old much to my annoyance. If you tend to have big babies et the bugaboo plus it is much bigger where it counts and will last you the whole three years. Its also easier to fold up and keep in parent facing mode. You need the cocoon for a newborn even in the summer as the seat is not designed to take little babies without it. You just lie them on the cocoon with the apron off.
  2. Its not really fair to assume the world is being inconsiderate if you don't ask first. No one wants to offend a chubby lady - they've got enough problems as it is. I personally always give up my seat if I see a pregnant standing up but I do think it is irresponsible of pregnant women to not ask then stand and be annoyed that no one offered. I think people try and mind their own business most of the time. The person who is responsible for the well being of the unborn child is the expectant mum so they just have to get over the discomfort of talking to strangers and sit down for safety sake. Bumps are vulnerable to halting buses. I've never seen anyone refuse to move, personally.
  3. why limit yourself? the service over the entire course of the day is poor. People who live in areas dependent on it just take up a bike or car. The last bus of the day just does not show up. The whole bus route is so bad that there must be some clause of sorting out a public service that doesn't do much of a service.
  4. reneet Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Wonder why people feel that they can be so > judgemental about other people's parenting. Because parents are raising people, and those people will be the hub of humanity when we're all dead. I swear like a sailor and it is completely reflective of a shitty childhood and a bad mindset. These are obviously things that no one would want for their child. Language is the only real clear indicator for what is going on in a person's mind and if a mind is continually stooping for the lowest, nastiest words it can find instead of reaching for polite and positive language then that is a sorry place for a child to be. I don't think children should be demonized for swearing, just re educated (conditioned!). I am learning not to swear and I'd be happy if my child learns better than me in oh so many in ways.
  5. I'm glad it is not just me who has experienced the dreaded mould. I am not just really particular about buying bath toys that don't have enclosed centers and are open and can drain easily - cups, balls with no openings, sealed bath toys. I get that it is possibly harmless devil's ectoplasm but doesn't feel right subjecting the baby to it.
  6. The P13 and all the P buses are rubbish. Too crowded in rush hours and too unreliable to use for appointments.
  7. wow, bicycle magic in whitechapel used to be my preferred bike shop. It is a very fabulous shop.
  8. I had the same problem. I used some cradle cap shampoo, waited until it was all dried out and healed up then olive oil and a comb. worked a treat.
  9. Do people realise they are for people with YOUNG children. Whose children are with them. I have a 2 yr old son and trying to walk him safely from the car to the entrance is quite dangerous with all those blind spots. It is quite rude the number of people with no children or teenagers who take up the parent and child spaces whilst people with babies and toddlers are struggling to keep their children safe. I am dismayed at when this is pointed out to people they become quite abusive. To the two separate women who were challenged about it this evening - please don't swear at me in front of my child and also I took photographs of your car next to the parent and child space, your registration and time and date of incidence. The car park operator assures me you will get a ?50 penalty in the post. Please don't be selfish, park where you are supposed to.
  10. My secondary school publicized itself in the same way as Kingsdale. For open evenings the head of year specifically asked only (and openly in assembly) White students to volunteer for helping out and that no black students were wanted to help out. This was 1997. They then asked all the music and after school clubs to put on performances. Apart from being hypocritical and racist it only put forward maybe 15-25% of school activity and ignored the 1 in 3 black students we had. It was shameless. The thing is all the effort of the school still went on this 25% and everything else just coped. They fixed the school GCSE results by simply not entering people who were bound to fail. about 50% of students were entered in to 5 or less GCSE whereas students who were given time and support where enter into thirteen GCSEs. They were the top school in the borough (Thomas Tallis, se3) but there were so many people who they let down because they were so focused on the cream of the crop.
  11. Actually I think muggings are not common in central london because there are cameras everywhere. I used to live in central london and when muggings like the ones mentioned happened the perpetrators were caught because of the cameras everywhere. The long term effect has seen that some central london areas are not quite safe at night. My friends and I would quite happily go out all night and walk home because there were cameras everywhere and more so police at the end of them that came out if there was trouble. ED sounds like it could at least do with some more police presence at the moment.
  12. you go to your gp and say it isn't working out for you and get referred elsewhere. I would recommend you do change. It is more important to be feeling comfortable and secure when in labour than pissed off at the people who have annoyed you for the past nine months.

  14. virasoothe - it is rubbish. Calamine lotion is still the best.
  15. If you think it is laughable to be a racist then I pity you. There are people who have more of an understanding in the world to know that shoving problems onto skin colour is backwards and small minded. You are not blessed with some ability to see a truth the rest of us are blind to. If you said working class and deprived then you might be onto something but then you wouldn't because it would be too much of a generalisation. Generalisations are a lazy mans logic.
  16. Tarot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dully, the truth often hurts. > While people are in denial of reality, they > cannot move forward. > In this tragic incident,it is said they were > black. > But whatever colour, they were cowardly. You are a bigot plain and simple Tarot, it is attitudes like yours that will keep the world small and stupid. I'm a big fan of the truth and I'm seeing little of it on this thread and absolutely none of it in your posts. If every black person I know went to uni or has a professional job and did not involve ourselves in knife crime then where do we exist in your world? what about Steven lawrence? what about the more well known stabbings like brook kinsella's brother or the "Harry Potter" star that were stabbed to death. It wasn't black youths that stabbed them. Yes, in this instance the people involved were black. It is one singular point about them. The colour of skin does not make the man and why should everyone of a colour then be painted with the same brush as belonging to a knife welding group? Rubbish. Absolute toss.
  17. There is no black community as much as there is no white community so why is it the responsibilities of the black community? Of course it smacks of defensiveness - you spend your whole life trying to be the best person you can and have some pillock turn around and say all black youths are knife welding reprobates. It is hugely offensive and no more my mess to clean up than it is anyone else in the area. When people talk about the "black community" it only points out how much you as an individual distance black people from yourself that you think there is some other "black community". There is (supposed) to be no apartheid in this country but whenever something like this happens then "ooo, no, that black community". It happened in east dulwich yours and our community. There are plenty of different ethnicities involved in knife crime. It is in no way explicitly the domain of the mythical black community. The majority of stabbings you hear about may involve black people but I assure you that there is a multitude of diversity when it comes to knife crime. Going on about not being able to say anything without being dubbed a racist is nonsense. It is possible to discuss these matters without being racist. Dismissing the whole issue as down to black people puts up barriers and prevents people from trackling the real issues at hand.
  18. That is so offensive as are a lot of the comments on this thread. The chinese community has the triads. Please don't let your own ignorance be an excuse for perpetuating falsehoods and bull. Crime violence and all that comes down to individuals and subsequently groups of individuals. There is a myriad of ways you could perceive these individuals - criminals would do. There is not need to insult ethnic minorities and black people on mass based on your suppositions. I used to see the victim about and nod a polite hello to him. He seemed very sweet and lovely. That is him as a person. Me as a black youth went to university as did all the other black youths in my year at school. It is SO RUDE that people will "black youths this and that" without appreciating there are scores of white drug dealers and gang warfare up and down the country. Anti social and criminal behaviours come down to personality disorders and poor decision making. Because a handful of people act that way why does that give you the right to rain down your horrible ignorance on black people. You know living in london how fractured and splintered all community is for everyone that you need to stop blaming and pigeon holing any "black groups" to blame. Everytime a white person killed someone how would you like it if the rest of the world sighed, washed their hands of it and said oh its those white english people at it again. Tarot - you in particular need to check yourself up and down for being plain backwards.
  19. get over it, East dulwich is just not as nice an area as people like to hark on about. It is east dulwich - land of pretension, murder, muggings and people who can't afford to live in the village.
  20. DKH sains chicken is often dodgy to the point I don't buy chicken in there anymore at all. In fact after discovering I can buy three sea bass for a fiver as opposed to one for ?9 in sains I give up altogether. Actually I did a test shop in tescos the other week and my usual ?120 on a weeks groceries cost ?70. I didn't realise sainsburys was charging so much more.
  21. Magazines, music player and plenty of music. We started labour, it stopped and had to sit there for three days doing nothing whilst they tried to get it started again. Dull as you like.
