This image plays across the back of my brain every time I see the thread title - was it subconscious Tarot? http://static.gigwise.com/gallery/1031302_frankiegoes-relax.jpg
  2. One benefit if Waitrose move here (not a particular fan of their gear) is it might reduce the number of Ocado vans - pesky little critters.

True Parky but it's a rental job, know-what-I-mean? Muddy boots and posters (including blutack) of WestHam to be removed between games - and we don't even know what the London Legacy people will end up calling it yet. (The Chelsea Building Society Arena is a front runner apparently)

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why will they have sh1t views ?* The 'rake' (such as it is) means some seats are quite a walk from the actual pitch - a bit like watching Orient. From Brentford. *These will be the cheaper seats - maybe they'll come with opera glasses in a coin-operated bracket attached to the seat in front - for nostalgia.

It's all incontinence pads and world-war-II flying helmets and you know it.

The WH pricing game is a good idea when you have an extra 19,000 seats to fill - most of which will have shit views - and you can bet your bottom escudo that if it IS filled Quids, then the prices will shoot up quicker than Sam's blood pressure when someone mentions 'total football'. That said (and in the spirit of "the new stadium is a done deal mate so stop feckin' whining about it") I will be there too and hoping for a new Iron Age in English Football. And Miwwaww? Who they?

  9. I like some of the stuff in Iceland and I think some of it is garbage, I think the Co-op is having an identity crisis but I like the staff at both shops and when I can't be arsed to go to Lidl or Sainsburys they're fine. If they were replaced by M&S, Waitrose, Aldi, etc etc I'm guessing the same shit would apply. As long as we don't end up with a Tescos or Morrisons.* Asda would be okay too. *Why should they be left out of the furore?

Yes but there are those voting SNP who didn't vote for independence yet want a party that DOES vote on non-Scots UK matters in Westminster in order to get thrown a bone for Scotland. They don't want a noble abstention to get a referendum rerun, they want to see how much they can squeeze out of a Government that they feel deserted them the minute they said "No" to independence. Strugeon is walking a tightrope between these new SNP supporters and the traditional members. Her 1st demand, though, is sure to be a call for another indy vote down the line (whatever she claims now) which will give her time to build support. This is all the SNP cares about and I doubt it will settle for less.
  11. Surely it's time to forget the SNP sideshow as irrelevant. If Milliband stands up to them they are stuffed - in the event of a Lab maj. (and no formal coalition) they can't vote against Labour on a vote-by-vote basis because it will always mean voting with the Tories, alienating their core support. ETA: obvs I mean a teeny tiny not-overall-type majority.

It's simply a matter of choices which are largely dictated by the way some people are wired. It's all very well to indulge a little; - Some may do so to see how the other half lives, - Some in a spirit of experimentation - dipping a toe into waters they've been told aren't for them and finding they like it, - Some in an all-embracing attempt to get to grips with modern Britain, - Some through sheer ennui - And some because it's been their guilty, pleasurable secret for years and now they feel it's more mainstream and they can talk openly about it. But when all is said and done there can really not be ANY excuse for watching Emmerdale, Eastenders, Coronation Street AND Hollyoaks.
  16. Only just seen this thread LM but I travelled up to Brum with London Midland on Thursday - ?6 e/w for a stopper (2 hrs rather than 1h22 but I was in no hurry) had a pretty good curry Friday at Pushkar on Broad Street too :) ETA - it was an advance ticket bought online a couple of days before leaving and collected from the ticket machines at ED station.

Looking at the current design I think I was over-egging the nicker's pudding, a pair of tin snips should suffice - even if it does lack some of the drama residents would hope to dine out on for weeks. Failing that a bucket or two of water sloshed about and a flashing amber light "Pipe's burst love" should send the good suburban worriers* back to dreamland. *Title of Will Self's new book set in ED.
  18. I like the idea but this design, as well as looking like shit, gives the impression that a couple of enterprising chaps with a small kangol (or angle grinder) and a truck could half-inch a fully laden one in a few minutes. They wouldn't even need the aid of a work-experience kid underneath to lift the wheels of the chained bikes, just secure the lid, flip upside down and *Bob*s your uncle; bikes in a basket. To go.
  19. In the park this early eve all three - now without their plastic defences - were being swarmed by adventurous kids crawling and swinging off them. Looked like they were having a ball so, art or climbing frames, they're a hit with the under-9s.
  20. Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Who is going to > pay ?1.50 for last nights news when you can get > up-to-the minute stuff online for free? Me also I'm afraid. I don't have a smart-phone or tablet and any interwebbing I do is via a notebook or pc. I also like the feel and warmth of newsprint (my own that is, not some virus-laden, snot-covered copy of Metro lying on a train seat) and, coincidentally, often read the Torygraph. I like the format and as long as I KNOW and remain AWARE that I'm reading the news projected from a certain political viewpoint it isn't a problem. A lot of the writing is funnier and more 'readable' than the Guardian and less beige than the Independent.
  21. If that really is what is intended then what a stupid-looking, half-baked, ramshackle affair it is. Like a failed chicken coop circa 1941 or a something knocked up by a local school caretaker; "Yer, gimme some chicken wire and a bit of corrugated iron and wallop. Call it a tenner a pop?". Surely there are more stylish (or just less shitty looking) alternatives?

  23. It's not often you can say this but ED's loss is clearly the King of Bahrain's gain. Maybe everything will turn full circle and the ED Hotel is going to be developed into a Four Seasons. Louisa would be livid...
  24. Brilliant. Now MadSarah and amylou are at daggers drawn this thread is reaching critical mass - MadSarah was straight in:- "IGNORE ANY VITRIOLIC AGGRESSIVE EMAILS ABOUT THIS PLACE FROM THIS OUT OF WORK GANGSTER" But my money is on amylou: "I'm Amy. I live in East Dulwich. I've got nothing to hide so I will tell you straight, I'm family... Shall we really go into who's on the take darling?...What a silly silly silly girl you are. I'm sure I'll bump into you." Is this on Netflix?
