Thought his apology for 'the effects' of the case rather pathetic.
  2. Otta neatly ousting himself from the 100s clique - fine work.
  3. Having not seen the post in question it seems rich to approve the removal of the post and then to detail its content by accusing the poster of "gleefully turning the death of a real person into a sleazily sexual slur in order to shame and ridicule a forumite" which can't possibly be defended unless the post is re-issued with explanations. Unless you just mean to stir it.

  6. From what I have read about Charlie Hebdo they satirise any and everything, with their most frequent target being Catholicism - I think the cartoons/articles should be published but alongside other similar satires from CH against Catholics, French Government, the left, the right, Jews, Christians etc etc... together with the responses/reactions they've received for same. Not publishing to face down the terrorists but not 'not publishing' for fear of them - just publishing to tell the story.

How not to defend a one goal lead, must have thought Jarvis was tired (?!) And Nolan should be shipped out this month - he's become a liability.
  10. The older cliqueyer chaps/chapesses can be ignored or mildly mocked when they get too self referential or nostalgic (trees it were all trees for miles) - what irks a little more are those scab-pickers who bang on about being mistreated and threaten to withdraw their contribution (which is rarely entertaining and usually dull and opinionated) at the slightest provocation. Grow up.
  11. I was in a clique that hung around outside the drawing room and lobbed spit-bombs at the swots but we disbanded when that closed. Now I have joined in with the fans of the growing French gentrification de cet arrondissement. Le Clique? C'est Chic

This is only the case because they (officers) make the mistake of starting with this parking fiction. Forget about this apparent "need to remove all parking on Lordship Lane for 100m north and south" as that is clouding judgement and is not necessary. Removing all the parking as you initially suggested might do as these officers and consultants say, yes - but removing the few bays from EDT to Franco Manca, and only on that side of Lordship Lane, would not. It would allow the traffic coming from Goose Green to pass the traffic queuing to turn right into East Dulwich Grove before resuming a middle-of-the-road position and continuing up Lordship Lane. No other parking would be removed so all other traffic would continue at the speed it does now. Cars turning into East Dulwich Grove would cease to pose a danger as they would be controlled by a filter-right light and a pedestrian crossing.

Perhaps self awareness is required The pedestrian crossing hasn't always existed there Charles and it is this that has created a dangerous crossing. Cars coming from Goose Green see the red light and know that - for a limited time only - they can turn right into ED Grove without having to slow down or worry about what may be coming (in fact they often speed up in case the lights change) and without checking for pedestrians already crossing ED Grove.

There is no reason the parking arrangements on LL heading towards towards Goose Green should be changed at all and only the stretch heading away from GG, between Franco Manca and the EDT, would need changing; meaning the loss of maybe 6-8 spaces (the zig-zags at GG and Franco Manca already limit parking here) as traffic returns to the middle of the carriageway after the junction. A 3-way system with filter right light from LL into EDG with 3 phases; 1.pedestrian lights red all traffic on green 2.north and south bound on red except for filter right into EDG, pedestrians green across LL but still red across EDG. 3. All traffic red pedestrians on green.
  17. Lib-Lab coalition defeat Tory-UKIP coalition to take power with SNP vote (after guaranteeing another referendum on independence for 2016) and Salmond joins cabinet. Major storms and floods destroy large swathes of home counties in March - diversion of funds from NHS/Welfare to rebuild infuriates the North. Duke of Edinburgh proclaimed a saint by Vatican after going a year without insulting another culture. Thames Tideway gets go-ahead - old sewers converted into affordable housing. West Ham taken over by fan consortium who renege on Olympic Stadium deal and build new ground near WH station and ban the wearing of blue shorts with home kit. EDF taken over by Clapham Forum in latest example of gentrification. Fortnums opens a mini mart in place of Kebab and Wine. Huguenot returns from Singapore and attempts to take over curry club from MP - showdown on Goose Green is Easter Fair highlight. DF and Louisa elope to Dagenham.

I like it when it's empty - between rushes - and I'm idling the time away with a coffee, waiting for a connection; it's the sudden cattle-stampede of several arriving trainloads that makes the whole structure shake and rumble - feels quite Hitchcockian. Don't mind the fetid subways so much - even when crowded. Another addition to the slightly tense list though - The Barbican. Not the flats or walkways or weird outside bits but the arts centre itself.

  23. KK - this is all part of the Nether Xmas experience and will end on 12th night. The emptiness is one of many minor irritations like: realising your determination to store things properly for next year, as you extracted a Gordian knot of fairly-lights in mid December, has evaporated in post-yuletide ennui as you stuff all lights and balls into a box that's coming apart at the seams; knowing you will still be finding pine needles in your hosiery in July; accepting that you are stuck with that Croatian Brandy for another year and firmly believing that next Xmas you really WILL do something other than turkey...
  24. I blame that Chaplin fellah.
