I like a PE but the co-op pizza is top quality.. Especially with a bit of tomato and chorizo on top all washed down with a nice bottle of red wine (drool).

Sean, They're doing two pizza's for ?4.50 at the Cooperative. You could save yourself a hell of a lot of money.

It's quite small for a PE but the staff are very friendly and pizzas as good as any other branch. My tummy is rumbling at the thought.

It's an enormous house.

I'd hardly call it fashionable, prentious or particularly expensive. I think the food's ok but I don't like having to order at the counter and pay up front. It's a pain when you want another round drinks as you have to queue again.

I was born in London and love it. However most of it is a dump.. there are a few places which are worth living in and Dulwich and Clapham are two of them. Anywhere you don't have to leave at weekends is good.. others include Barnes and Blackheath which are also islands surrounded by crap (I can't speak for North London but people seem to like Crouch End for the same reason). One of ED's pros and cons is it's public transport, it's a pain not being on the tube but it does help keep the riff-raff out. Clapham Common is great but horrible in the summer when the great unwashed ship in on the tube.

I used to use the Northcote Road one a lot and never really had a bad meal. However, I agree that paying at the counter is annoying considering it's hardly cheap. I've been to the LL branch once and didn't really enjoy the atmosphere.. very stark and you can only get bottled gnat's pee to drink. I'll try the Bishop or the Magdala next time.

When I rang Nat West (my current insurer) to cancel they undercut L&G so I'm going to be paying ?28 a month which is more like it.

I'm just getting some quotes for a new contents insurance for a three bed house in ED. My quotes are all aroung ?55 a month which is quite a lot more than I currently pay in a reasonably rough street in SW11. Is ED a den of thieves? Building insurance is a lot more too. I think this is because of subsidence in the area but I don't see why this should affect a contents policy. Direct Line is the cheapest so far.

They are ok up to a point but it does become tedious when a high street is swamped by them. The Northcote Rd in Battersea has been ruined by them in recent years. Even a few years ago it was full of quirky shops which is why I loved it.. now it's over run with the likes of Jigsaw, Space NK, Starbucks, All Bar One etc, and no amount of local protest could stop it. Also you don't really need a Waitrose as Ocado deliver to SE22 anyway (although I agree it's the nicest shopping experience of all supermarkets).

I found out recently that my father-in-law bought the whole chain of Zodiac toy shops when they went bust. Strange as I used to spend my pennies in there as a kid (he still deals in Lego and Playmobil to this day). There was also a really good but very small model shop at the start of Rye Lane.. I used to buy tiny lead tanks, lichen and stamps from him.

The word 'Aneloy's' has just struck deep into my psyche.. what was that? I used to love Marriot's toy shop, I always went there for Airfix kits, Subbuteo stuff etc (there was also a branch in Forest Hill). There was also a toy shop at the Plough too, can't remember it's name though.

I'm just in the process of buying my house in East Dulwich. I currently ride most days from Battersea to Camden Town which takes just over half an hour (and is a lovely route over Chelsea bridge and through Hyde and Regent's parks). I've yet to work out a good ED to Camden route. I'll probably go through Bellenden, Walworth Road, Blackriars and Farringdon which will be mostly urban hell. I anticipate it taking forty odd minutes. I'd avoid Burgess Park like the plague(especially if you are on your own).. I've read some horrible stories of people being attacked as they ride through there.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to redevelop this site? It's a lovely old building that seems to have been left to go to rack and ruin. It has got such a great position overlooking Peckham Rye I can't believe someone won't take it on.

It may well be too late now but a lot of stolen bikes end up at Brick Lane market on a Sunday. It might be worth your friend going up there next weekend.

I remember the yoga lot.. bearded hippies. They ran a Saturday morning cinema club/drama club for us kids long after the cinema proper had closed mostly showing 1950's sci-fi movies (my memory is a bit hazy about it but I think the seats had been removed). They had an old double decker bus parked in the car park next to it. I think most of the theatre props got 'liberated'and the bus vandalised. That was the end of that.

We had our reception on HMS Belfast (not ED I know but it's on the 78 route). It was brilliant.. The venue hire was really reasonable, we bought our own booze and paid corkage and had a buffet which was very tasty indeed. Luckily for us it was a warm night so we spent all evening swanning about on deck.

I've read several stinking reviews too. It seems to be a (con)fusion of French and Japanese cuisines.
