  1. I don't know about his carpentry skills, because his craft is in plaster mouldings, covings, ceiling roses and the like. However, I have just used someone called Andrew for my kitchen coving. He has done a beautifully neat job. He was also punctual, tidy and a pleasure to have around and his price was very reasonable. A truly nice guy too and he has the tidiest white van I have ever seen! I have no hesitation in recommending him. His telephone no. is: 07958217755.
  2. Hello Natty, I don't know your gender or whether you even like football. But, if you do and are female, I regularly (when I am not injured!) play with a very nice and inclusive bunch of ladies. You would be very welcome to join us. The fresh air, exercise and friendly, motivational banter would help your terrible loneliness - I am quite sure. I imagine that it must be very difficult - no, nigh impossible - for you to gather up sufficient energy to do very much in your time of grief, however if this does remotely interest you, PM me for details.
  3. I couldn't make the Palace game the other day, but - from the wonderful "racket" emanating from the ground - I felt I missed a really exciting match. Did anyone on here go?
  4. Someone called me "curly locks" earlier today and I was reminded of this classic...been listening to Byles's beautiful voice since...feels and sounds utterly sublime to me and I can't believe that I haven't listened to it for so long... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=+youtube+curlylocks&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=t7t8WYbHPM2T8Qe6sqDwCw
  5. Nice call dbboy. No need to apologise Admin. With the forum being down, I am reminded of how much I take it for granted. A bit like the sun rising every morning. Thank you for being there.
  6. We've used Gary Vu for 2 jobs. The first time we were very grateful for his prompt help when our consumer unit kept tripping and we were without electricity. I have no doubt that he is a qualified electrician. On this basis we chose to use him again for a much bigger job over several days. Although his work was OK in the end, he made a couple of mistakes - which, per se, we were fine with. However, he then tried to blame and charge us for putting one of them right and we felt deeply disappointed about that. One of his mistakes also meant we had to fork out for the additional services of a plasterer. For these reasons alone, we would not use him again. Having said that, the end result is that our new lighting looks good and functions as it should.
  7. Jaysus...I cannot imagine the club without GR. He has been wonderful for DH. :(
  8. I feel quite sad they didn't come through; they've worked hard for much of the season and well done to them for getting as far as they did. In the words of Del Boy..."this time next year..."
  9. Oh my goodness WHAT A GAME. They deserved to win - right from the start. Bloomin fantastic play by the P & Bs. And I got in a picture with Phil the Goalkeeper! Feeling happy and excited. Thank you Weegee for getting the tickets.
  10. KK - think of a swear word beginning with C (4 letters, last one T). :))

  14. Oooooh, thank you n11! That's the second recommendation for Mr. Worktop. Sounds like you got super service there. Do keep your comments/recommendations coming folks, for which I am very grateful. (tu)
  15. Thank you Red Devil! Much appreciated. Thank you too, TD. Again, very much appreciated. Have you used them or can you recommend? And, PLEASE, no more self-recommendations from "builders" via PM please. I will delete them without responding. If you want me to take you seriously, then please post publicly so that folk may have the opportunity of commenting. Thanks.
  16. taper Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Hamlet have a glorious history of heroic > failure in the play-offs. Ha! Having attended many of them, I have to agree with you, taper. However, I've noticed that - in recent years anyway - this has tended to happen when they've started the season strongly with good placings in the table. This didn't happen this season and so am hoping that an alternative pattern (hopefully the reverse) is emerging... *feeling excited*
  17. Is there a local(ish) business that would do just this? I don't need/want a whole refurb. And would you recommend them? I gave our local "Bells" a visit and experienced them as grumpy, reluctant to even serve me and not bothered about any new custom they might obtain. I would be grateful for any advice/comments. Thank you.
  18. I'd like to add my thanks too, Admin.

    Callows

I agree with all of the above. Had Jack round who dealt with 3 malfunctioning locks very efficiently. All locks are now working perfectly and Jack is a real pleasure to do business with. Thank you Jack of Callows. (tu)

  22. I'll admit; I emitted a small "Homer Simpson" type scream on "logging on" and seeing the "red" notice. Once I'd composed myself, I realised how lucky I am to have something like the EDF whenever I want. And you maintain it too, so that I may keep returning to it. So a massive THANK YOU from me too, Mr/s. Administrator. (tu) Edited to say, perhaps Mr/s. Administrator should close the Forum down more often, if only to raise awareness of how fortunate we all are to have such a wonderful resource. Certainly, as a result of last night's maintenance, I was able to recognise just how much I take this Forum for granted.
  23. I'm imagining a frozen pitch? Anyway, that was nice of you to give everyone the heads-up, dc. Saved them from potentially breaking their necks only to find that the match is off in any event. (tu)
