  1. Ah right. I was probably confusing it with a whoopie cushion!
  2. Good tip, unless you're travelling to somewhere outside the zones. Or if you're only using the train and you don't need a travelcard.
  3. Thank you everyone. I've emailed Southern and TfL (not their jurisdiction really but worth a try). Might try Jowell too.
  4. I've had this problem many times - including last Saturday. I had only 5 minutes to make a connection but was told if I didn't wait and queue at East Croydon I would get a penalty fare. Despite the fact that there was no means of buying a ticket at ED station. The machine actually said "Out of tickets" so it seems incompetence and not vandalism is the cause. Whatever the case, I had to miss my train and wait half an hour because Southern Trains are incapable of selling me a ticket. I know of no other country in the developed world where customers who want to pay are treated like this. It's a total disgrace. Anyone know who I can write to?
  5. A "whoopsie"? Not heard that one before! I thought a "whoopsie" was a name for an accident in the toilet department.
  6. Where is "dirty queer" BrianB? Sounds like a great place!
  7. One thing I find weird is how when I say I'm half Irish, people (especially from other countries) instantly warm to me much more. As if it's so much better than being English. It's such a stupid generalisation, as if every English person is a beer-swilling footbal hooligan and every Irishman a softly spoken affable rascal.
  8. I'm with the second option. Even though White Stuff isn't my thing it's much better than the shabby glaziers
  9. Unless someone is brave enough to put a picture of him/herself on here... go on!!!
  10. Coloured hankies in back pockets?
  11. The trouble is scumbags beget scumbags. Sterilization is the answer! Seriously
  12. So does anyone know what the filming is/was for?
  13. That's Kerry Gold! Went to see children of men a few months ago. Got the 176 home and it was full of trash, drunks etc. Looked out of the window and the streets were crowded with more of the same... I felt like i was in the film. The 12 also belongs to a dystopian other world I think.
  14. Flecked with broken beer glass? Charlie Gold = chav perfume. Apologies to CWALD
  15. Fresh or dried?
  16. If each bus had a flavour what would it be? My suggestions: 40 - special brew 12 - fried chicken 176 - Charlie Gold P13 - tweed by Lentheric/lucky heather
  17. Eye candy in Covent Garden? Tell us where.
  18. Did he work in Boots?
  19. I have no sympathy with the drivers, sorry! If I was constantly rude to people in my job I wouldn't expect everyone to feel sorry for me. I've worked in customer-facing jobs before and if I'd behaved like this I'd have been sacked! If you can't do your job without being abusive you shouldn't be doing it at all.
  20. My dad's Irish, from Cork. This is why I am beyond the pale (my skin colour I mean, not my posts)
  21. Stay Another Day, East 17 Classic!
  22. Yes Matt, tell us when! How about next Monday?
  23. My partner recently parked in Oval (Lambeth), clearly displaying a resident's permit in the window. When he came back to the car he discovered he'd been ticketed. The ticket claimed that he had "failed to display a permit." We wrote to contest this, enclosing photocopies of the original permit and parking ticket. We received a letter claiming they had photographic evidence that the permit had two dates scratched off. We wrote back to tell them that this is a ridiculous & false claim, especially given the photocopy and the reason actually given on the ticket. But again, we received a standard letter written in a menacing tone, threatening doubling of the fine, court action etc. if we didn't pay it. Faced with such intimidation, it's easy to understand how an elderly or infirm person in our position would give up and pay the fine. We will not! We are totally disgusted with the ineptitude and bullying tactics - I'm glad you are making this programme & hope our experience might be of use.
  24. Oh God, does EVERY shop in ED have to be for the benefit of a yummy mummy? How many pairs of fancy shoes, designer teapots and items of overpriced retro knick-knacks does one need?
  25. I think conductors help as a deterrent to low-level crime, in the same way that a visible police presence does. Where somewhere seems to be totally unsupervised you get litter, antisocial behaviour etc - the 12 is a prime example. I don't recall there being empty fried chicken boxes and kids playing music aloud on the old Routemasters. And I don't think it's just because that was a few years ago - look at the DLR, which always seems pretty clean and safe. It's not surprising as each one is manned.
