  1. Went there and was quite nonplussed. Was hoping it would be amazingly good or at least entertainingly bad but it was just... okay. The staff weren't even rude! If you're after that sort of thing you're probably better off at Franklins (as long as there are no vegetarians in your party).
  2. We wouldn't have all these gross diseases & suffering (I'm thinking of the animals) if everyone went vegetarian. Just a thought.
  3. El Paso is still dreadful, doesn't matter how many stars it gets. You can see the dirt with your own eyes. Not that I trust Southwark Council anyway, they are a total bunch of idiots.
  4. That is quite gross Domitanius!
  5. Thanks Charlotte, St Olaves is already on our list (went there myself actually). What is the difference between Knights and Hatcham?
  6. Damn... have suggested it many times but he wasn't keen. Guess we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope he does well in the entrance exam. He is very bright but then this is the most over-subscribed school in the country... and it does have that bizarre selection rule so who knows? We are a bit stuck as he lives in Lewisham with his mum. Schools there are atrocious. So like many round here it's gonna be a lot of tests and anxious waiting... the whole thing seems so unfair. I reckon all schools should be forced to have a mix of all abilities. That way we wouldn't have this desperate scrum for the decent ones.
  7. Speaking of which, why is Crystal Palace Road (and the CPT) nowhere near Crystal Palace? The road doesn't even lead there.
  8. Any thoughts on how to get your kids in there Keef? As I would love to get my son in...
  9. Ganapati I'm not disputing that some working-class parents care a great deal about their kids' education. Sad that it's a minority but there you go. Re. Aske's, yes there is an entrance exam. They use the results of this to select from three ability levels. A small percentage are also admitted based solely on proximity to the school. So it's all a bit of a lottery really.
  10. Not wishing to p*ss on anyone's parade, Aske's selection procedure is bizarre in the extreme as they select from "three diffferent ability levels" (or claim to). Which seems very odd, given their incredible performance in the league tables. Also I think if someone claims not to be middle class "in their own words" - they are probably all the more likely to be middle class!
  11. Louisa I am vegetarian so sadly Japanese via Moxons is not an option! Speaking of which, we also need a vegetarian restaurant!
  12. Sorry to sound negative but we need a Vietnamese or Japanese place about a thousand times more than another Indian.

Will Alliance & Leicester be next? Or is that sensationalism too?
  14. Anyone who believes that Mark One is coming to East Dulwich is a sandwich short of a picnic
  15. Agreed. Bunting is a must!

Thanks for the reassurance Asset. Problem is I know the people drawing out their money are just making it worse. But I don't want to be the last one to do so... Even the assurance that the FSA will cover my (relatively small) deposit seems hard to believe. What about those victims of the pensions scandal, weren't they given similar assurances that they had nothing to worry about? I had no idea NR was sailing so close to the wind. I blame the management. However I do wonder how thick these people who take out huge sub-prime mortgages with no means of paying them back must be...

Anyone got savings there. I have and I'm a bit worried. Fortunately it's only a couple of grand.
  18. If the international supply of baby booties is hit we will have a problem.
  19. I fully support shopping in Peckham and Nunhead. You can get the best crack there.
  20. I am overwhelmed by a feeling of deja vu (or should that be "deja lu"?)

  23. I'm sure there was one of these in London recently - near Tate Modern maybe? And yes, I would use it!

So whatever happened to Pink Drinx? Was looking forward to meeting some gay locals. Anyone fancy giving it another try?
