What is the Dulwich Estate doing to our pubs?
Otta replied to The Dulwich Raider's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's always been pretty busy on occasions I've been, but can't say that's particularly regular. But I think you've hit the nail on the head, Grove and Half Moon = Simply not enough people going there. -
That and the simple fact he's United.
-
Defo looks like it.

I don't. It wasn't about Scholes being shy, it was about him being a footballer and wanting to avoid the limelight that he saw his mate Becks enjoying. He's now a retired footballer with a new career. God I can't stand the fact I'm sticking up for Scholes, but Keane is just being such an unbelieveable prick. All his old team mates should go round his gaff mob handed and just kick the shit out of him.

StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > why are the agency even involved? Partly the reasons KK suggests, and partly because of the flexibility. It's crap, but it's been that way for a long time. I should say that carer pay does vary, and some are paid over ?6.50, but I doubt many are earning ?8.50 or more. Lots of ads say things like "earn UP TO ?8 an hour", but I'm guessing that will be working a Sunday evening.

StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Are you really suggesting that people supporting > this are somehow not interested in carers being > paid more? Er, no. I'm suggesting that the carers should be paid more than the cinema staff. And I'm wondering (I don't know) what would happen if everyone were paid at least LLW. An example. A carer commissioned by a local authority will often be paid about ?6.50ph (shocking). The LA will pay the agency ?11.50ph for that service. If carers were paid ?8.50ph, the agency office staff would need a rise and the LA would soon be paying ?15ph. Now there is ZERO chance that the LA's budgets will go up accordingly, so that money will need to be found by cutting something else. Someone is always going to get the shit stick. I wish it wasn't that way but it is. It's all well and good saying cineworld are a huge rich company, I agree, they are. But in the bigger picture everyone would need to jump on board and not everyone is a huge rich company. If you support the ritzy staff then you need to support a total roll out, you can't pick and choose based on whether you think the employer is nice or not.

When presented with the choice between dishing out some popcorn for over ?8 an hour, or wiping the shitty arses of elderly stroke victims for under ?7 an hour, you can see why not everyone (including those who are not "relatively well-to-do") will be overly supportive of these guys. It's just the people wiping the arses can't afford to go to Picturehouse very often, so this issue isn't on their radar, it's an issue for the likes of the EDF to get indignant about.

Does Boy's Brigade still exist? There used to be one at the Church on the corner of Goodrich & Lordship Lane, but I'm going back years. I used to go to one in peckham with loads of lads from the North Peckham and Pelican Estates. Taught me how to look after myself if nothing else.

Desperately hope to see The Half Moon reopen as a venue for music though. -

Agree with Jeremy about the Dog. A decent place to hire rooms would be good and the function room didn't seem to get used too often. There is no reason it couldn't remain a decent sized pub downstairs. Dulwich Village is hardly some little village in the middle of nowhere, they can walk 10 minutes to anothjer pub. And finally, The Dog has always been shit. -

I think that was just a freak week, sure I'll be crap again this time round. Newcastle Liverpool is an interesting one this week. I'm predicting goals and defensive fu*k ups.

Which begs the question, what the hell was wrong with FIFA 10?

I'm definitely using Easy D feom now on. If for no reason other than to annoy people.

Grove tavern to reopen. Fact or fiction.

There is some talk of Southwark looking at the site for a bloody primary school. Better than an empty building, but would much rather see a successful pub / restaurant there. -
Vote of top 10 covers. Some decent selections. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-29791820 But more interestingly, songs you may not have known were covers. I was quite surprised by some of these. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-29568083

Sylvan Post is good, but personally I'd just go straight to the Hob.

Haha, we were all (well some of us) thinking it.

Then report him to the Scout organisation central office. Do you have his decision nin writing?

I never even knew it was catholic, they used to have Scouts at my childhood CofE church. I had always thought of them as a Christian organisation though.

People choose to use their cars because they don't want to risk gettong a bit chilly or possibly delayed (like traffic jams don't happen). I would say that you could get to the bottom of Whateley Road within an hour from most places in and around London. -

Cycling aside, what's wrong with public transport? -

For years Heineken was something you wouldn't touch over here, because it was Heineken "Special Filter" and was 3.5%. You had to buy an expensive Heineken Export for the proper stuff. It was only around the turn of the century that they sorted that shit out.

Me too RD. He's openly said he's not comfprtable in the role, yet Rogers persists in playing him there and keeps saying "he's getting in the right positions, it'll come". I'm not dissing Rogers, I have plenty of time for him, but if a striker is not confident up front alone, and you have another one warming the bench (who could be pretty good at lay offs) why not play them together more? Not that that is Liverpool's only problem at the moment. But yes, the Spurs match made me think we'd be pushing on from last season. That feels like a looooooooong time ago now.
