  1. He'll fight on. He shouldn't, but he will.
  2. Plus, without wanting to sound completely heartless, he did choose a pretty public place to end his life.
  3. Just goes to show there are a lot of joyless people out there.
  4. And some children are scared of dark parks full of thousands of people with noisy fun fairs. Ban the lot!!!
  5. Whilst I love a big display, my favourite childhood memories of fireworks were at parties in people's gardens. The thought of that not being allowed anymore is really sad. And a mate surprised us with some fireworks at our wedding reception, that was pretty special too.
  6. My friend Anna is a teacher with this group. http://www.southwarkchildrensbrassband.org/ Her number is 07852313216 email [email protected] She teaches in loads of schools and she's really lovely, so puts kids at ease.

  8. Can we have a petition to ban petitions. Especially ones started by animal lovers.
  9. I actualy just looked at it on you tube because between here and facebook I have seen so many comments about it. It's bloody awful! As was the one they did last year.

  11. I don't like the fun fair, but think it's par for the course these days. Crystal Palace definitely has one, and I think Blackheath does too these days.
  12. He's clearly a double 'ard bastard!

  14. If it's something that meant that much to you ("you" in general, not YOU), you'd find the ?7. And if you really really couldn't afford it, then you have the option to go to one which doesn't charge, so everyone's a winner. Or Lambeth just don't have any fireworks, that's the other option. I bet any money that the only reason Blackheath is free is because there is absolutely no way they could fence it off and stop people from seeing it.
  15. MrsMcC I didn't realise you could print off a map, doh! And my missus said the same thing about the festival feeling.
  16. Wicked display though.
  17. Thanks all. Alas space is of something of a premium, so the airer idea probably not a goer (it's not so much that the place is tiny, it's more that we have too much stuff and I already feel claustrophobic indoors). The condenser dryer looks like an interesting option though...
  18. Agreed about getting out being nice and easy.Even getting the train back home wasn't too bad.
  19. Didn't queue at all to get in, wondered over to the bonfire which was pretty cool. Worst bit was trying to negotiate all the queues for the food stalls even though we weren't in one. Organisation in terms of where to go for each bit (bonfire in one place, "Lords of lightening" elsewhere, and fireworks elsewhere again) needs improving. BUT, it was the best display I've ever seen and I'm well glad I spent my ?7. Obviously I've not seen others tonight, but it wiped the floor with anything I've seen in previous years at Blackheath / Crystal Palace and elsewhere. Highlight for me was during the song "happy" looking up and seeing smiley faces in the sky. God knows how they pull that off.
  20. Perhaps not overly inclusive, but it's not like the local authority have to put fireworks on, and with the pressure that LA's are under financially, you could argue that spending a fortune on a fireworks display is not a good use of resources. And those on benefits can always go to Blackheath or Southwark Park can't they? Believe me, I am far from well off, but I don't think ?14 for me, the wife and our two girls (under 16s go free but need to have a ticket) is bad for an evening out. And still cheaper than Crystal Palace who have always charged for as long as I can remember. Plus at Crystal Palace you just get fireworkd, Lambeth are doing fireworks, bug bonfire, laser light shows and a mechanical firebird and disco turtle (whatever the hell they are), and finally, a human catherine wheel, which sounds interesting... I have made a point of avoiding Brockwell Park after last time I went (probably 4 years ago), we got there in plenty of time got off the train about an hour before kick off), but it was a total bottle neck in to the park, and we missed most of it just trying to get in. ?7 wouldn't buy you an hour in the pub these days, so it really doesn't seem too bad to me.
  21. Thing is, our washing machine is on it's last legs so needs replacing anyway, and I don't think we can stretch to a new washer and separate dryer. I know they're not as good, but think it's the best we can hope for.
  22. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think it's a real shame that you now have to pay > to go to Brockwell Park. I don't personally. Had terrible experiences trying to get in there in previous years, would much rather pay ?7, have it less busy, and get more entertainment for my money.
  23. When the uplands was first gutted and done up in about 2001/02, a friend described it as like having a beer in a cinema bar. Mag is similar in terms of the open space.
  24. Hello, Since moving to our flat in Feb we are struggling to keep up with washing, and more to the point, drying. Sooo, can anyone recommend a good washer dryer for no more than ?400? Sorry for the ultra dull thread, but families with little kids do lots of washing, so figured this was a good place to ask.

It certainly could. But to be fair to the "reserve" side, they played better than the first team have done this season for the most part. That said, I'd have liked to have seen Sterling start. Borini worked hard and did pretty well, but we desperately need Sturridge back and another striker.
