They wouldn't get anywhere near the transfer fee they got for Ronaldo for an aging Rooney. They'd have to spend more replacing him than they'd make selling him.

Would you discuss it first, or just go to the interview and wait until you'd been offered the role? It seems a bit dishonest to do that, and within Local ASuthorities, a role is created at a certain grade, it's not a case of the manager just deciding to shift it up a grade, so I don't know that it's possible... I'll have another look though to see if I've missed the deadline or not...

Are you sure about that, if an English team win the cup will 4th place miss out? I had assumed that they'd made a space for the cup winners?

Just wanted to add that I have found myself in a position where I am in a job I'm not all that happy with, but can't afford to take a pay cut. Recently I have seen 2 wonderful sounding roles that I would absolutely enjoy, but both would have meant a 3 - 5k drop in pay, and that would make a massive difference to us, and I can't do it. So, if you're in a job you love, and you're managing financially, you are in a very good position, and should enjoy it whilst you can!

I can report that the KFC is shit, but other than that I am liking it. ;-) My mum was looking after my girls today and when on the high street was told by an old lady to "make sure you keep your purse safe around 'ere luv", which made me chuckle.

Why is AM resigning?!?! I swear some of you take this shit far too seriously!

Comparing the two is like comparing GBK with McDonald's. They will cater to different needs. Personally I'd be more likely to use maccas regularly, but might pop to GBK when I want a treat.

Dulwich Park - Dogs Must be Kept on Short Lead

What SJ said. Also there was a post earlier that suggested that only abused dogs will bite. Total nonsense. We had a dog when I was a kid that hsd to be out down after taking chunks iut of my mum's arm. The arm that fed, walked and stroked him every day. Like people, some dogs are just wired wrong. -
Exactly, fool. He's trying to talk it up using terms like "running scared", but at the end of the day he's just wasted a year trying to get a big payday. And I really don't think FM is running scared, Khan just not in his league.

Yes, we must not promiter these products that are designed to get people off of the MUCH MUCH MUCH more harmful products!

I'm not suggesting waiting 10 years, but 5 sounds about right given the kids ages. I've not read the teenagers thread, but I was thinking as I wrote that most teenagers will resent their parents about plenty of stuff, I doubt that studying will be top of their list. I'd have loved it if my mum had been busy studying and off my back! ;-)

I'm hopeful that even the most militant pro or anti cyclist would realise that was a joke... But given recent threads, that may be naive. -

So is the ice cream van still near the end of the cycle track? If so, then yeah dogs technically don't need to be on leads there. Although to be honest, that's probably the busiest area of the park in terms of traffic, so if I was the owner I think I would keep my dog on the lead around there. When I used to walk my dog in that park I just stuck to the grassy verge around one side of the park (the bit that eventually backs on to the lordship lane estate). If near a road I'd get the dog back on the lead, because even if it had the right not to be, that would count for nothing if it ended up under a car. -
Yeah I had a look on zoopla, and none of them are currently up for sale or rent. Glad the building is being used finally, it was empty for ages!

Yeah but there are cyclists, and they're far worse! -
You're the same sort of age as me. We are going to be working until we are at least 70. Plenty of time to do this later on. And I could be wrong, but I don't think secondary school kids are likely to resent you for being busy, I'd much rather that than miss out on these earlier years.

What happened to the St Thomas More Hall?
Otta replied to minder's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well there is a bit "courtyard" (for want of a better word) space behind it, so if they're building on all of that land, then yes 3 screens sounds reasonable. Very good news, will be a very welcome addition to the area. Imagine they'll do great business so long as they price reasonably. -

Given up reading every post so sorry if I'm repeating. Whether or not the dog actually attacked with teeth ready to bite is not the point. A person that is not entirely comfortable with dogs could be very frightened of a large dog charging at them with friendly intentions, because they're probably not adept at reading dog's minds. So to ask "did the dog ACTUALLY attack you" is beside the point. At the end of the day, within the boundaries of the horse track dogs should not be off leads, or even on those long extendable leads. There are lots of little kids running around, and not everyone likes dogs, they can be scary. Just because you might not find them so (I personally love dogs), it's stupid to assume that no one else should. The grass area around the edge of the park has always been fair game for dogs running around. So if I am reading this right and the OP was approached by the dog in the central area of the park, then the dog owner was in the wrong. And Southward definitely need to revise their signage. -
Very true. And at least next season it will be another route to champs league, so in theory if it messed up your league form and made you lose out on 4th, that wouldn't matter so much if you could go on and win it.

"So I dismiss all the flawed stats on here which do not take into account the above and only show deaths of pedestrians as a general indication of relative dangerousness of cycles over cars." Can I dismiss the whole thread and any other cycling related thread? I don't know why I keep clicking, I can't help myself. It's like self harming.

So it is. Cool. -
At the start of yesterday, I was very much looking over Liverpool's shoulder at the teams behind them. A loss for the pool and a win for Spurs and things would have felt very different today. But now I'm looking at the 4 point gap between us and Chelsea... Still not expecting miricles, and nothing is settled yet, but I'm starting to feel quietly confident about the champs league place. That (and with it, keeping Suarez) is all I'd hoped for at the start of the season. It's great to see Henderson playing so well, after a lot of people wrote him off as an expensive dud a while back. I like Spurs, and for their sake, I hope they let United overtake them and have 5th place and the Europa League with it! As I've said to Jah recently, it's still a European cup, and winning it would be great, but it's a bastard of a competition with the Thursday night games. At least next year it will earn a champs league spot for the winners http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22640095
