  1. SJ I'm not in any way saying Forest Gate is "the place to be", but of you want a lot if decent house for your money, you could do worse. And a lot if us never get out in the evening anyway.
  2. Regarding The Edge and effects, he sums it up well himself in this clip It's 2014, and there are a lot of gadgets out there, and why the hell not? I love a guitar pedal that makes some weird and wonderful sounds.
  3. Jah, that clip also shows off an absolutely amazing young bass player in Tal Wilkenfeld.
  4. But with Westfields down the road in Stratford there are lots of new restaurants and bars, which people I work with seem to like. Not saying it's a utopia, but susoext it's changed a lot since tourw time there which must have been the best part of 10 years back.
  5. Forest Gate not as rough as it once was, and has some roads with beautiful housing, large double fronted detatched houses which probably go for about the same as a two bed flat in ED.
  6. I believe you, but I'll wager that won't be the case in 5-10 years time. Aaanyway, getting slightly off topic.
  7. Everyone will be going as it's all closing.
  8. In fact, it was exactly half. See for yourselves.
  9. I dunno, half the kids in my primary class were not white and I honestly felt like I knew of more black families living in the area growing up. Of course that doesn't prove anything, but from my perspective it seems more white now. But yes, it was never Brixton or Peckham.
  10. That is sad. Alas this sort of pkace is what makes an area attractive to so many, but then rates go up and up and this sort of place can no longer survive. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy. Sad to hear it's hapoened to the warehouse though. One of the better things in the area.
  11. Penge and Sydenham both have a lot of housing that is nicer than anything in ED to be honest. And the fact they're not gentrified is a plus point for some if us. Alas they are both now getting the overspill from ED and the inevitable is starting to happen.

  14. The point is, you can join those dots up in any number of ways. Your experience will lead you to do it a certain way, but that's not to say it's the right way.

  16. Fingers crossed... My little one has got the bug and is desperate to go to the footy again!
  17. I withdraw the idiots statement, it was harsh. I still would want a lot more house for my money though. Was chatting to a friend yesterday who sold his nice 2 bed flat with lovely roof garden on Basano Street two years ago for ?350k. That's not exactly cheap, but doable for a lot of people (not me alas). But I bet that same flat would fetch more like 500k today, only two years on.
  18. No offence though old boy, but when you were 25 prices weren't quite so mental and ED itself wasn't the bubble it is today.
  19. That came out harsher than it was meant! What did you buy 2 years ago? I'm quite surprised a couple in their twenties would really fancy ED to be honest. But then I'm not in my twenties anymore, so I don't know what a person in their twenties would want.
  20. I never said stupid, I said idiots. But we have different priorities I guess.
  21. My parents who are not well off, could sell up and live comfortably elsewhere with the proceeds. Not everyone moves around purely based on profit. Lots of people moved to ED when it was reasonably reasonable. Good luck to them I say. The market is what it is, I'm not saying people should flog their houses for less than they're worth, and clearly people are willing to pay those prices to live in ED. I just happen to think they're idiots for doing so.

Not technically brilliant but > he's the rhythm king. Similar can be said for Tony Iommi. He made his own fingertips and had to downtune to reduce resistance. That's a man who was determined to play guitar!
  23. Your opinion. In my book, whether you can afford it or not, you'd be an idiot to pay the current prices being asked for victorian terraces. I just don't get why ED is THAT attractive to people. There's no way in Hell I'd pay those prices even if I had it in cash.
  24. And idiots need to stop paying the prices they are paying for the houses in areas like East Dulwich.
