  1. Whilst just looking at Underhill Road (to see if the flats on the corner of Overhill were still on the market) I was pretty shocked to see this 1 bed flat (in a loft) on the market for nearly ?400k http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/31996696 But I was more pleased to see that you can still get a 2 bed flat for a (sort of) reasonable rate http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/details/31569102
  2. Speaking of empty homes, did anyone ever move in to those flats on the corner of Underhill and Overhill?
  3. How big is the space? I can't imagine (when looking at it from the street) it being more than a one screen cinema, but perhaps it goes back a long way?
  4. Well if the businesses all moved to cheaper properties, the landlord would probably be forced to drop the rent. However, in terms of location in Dulwich, that's a pretty hot spot.
  5. I hate myself for posting again on this thread. binary_star Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But getting annoyed by anecdotal accounts of > antisocial Lycra Louts doesn't equate to cyclists being any more dangerous than anyone else on the roads. But most people are not saying that cyclists are MORE dangerous than anyone else on the roads. The reason these threads go on and on is because SOME people refuse to believe that cyclists can be dangerous at all. And because SOME people like to wind people up on this forum and this thread is a gift that keeps giving to them.
  6. I used to work for Greenwich social services, abd know Plumstead pretty well. It has potential for sure, but it feels pretty down at heel. But the fact there is a prison close by doesn't make any difference. There are big prisons close to expensive parts of London. Plus Belmarsh isn't actually in Plumstead.

Very pleased Liverpool managed to win that match today. It's exactly the sort of match they usually drop points in, and they did their best to remain true to that form!
  8. Let her know that you're there but that you'll wait for her to tell you when she needs you. Letter probably a good start.
  9. Could someone who's been in Penge a while recommend a good GP to register with?
  10. LOL
  11. What Jeremy said.

  13. Er, make that a 3 bed semi in Sydenham. I think a 30 bed semi would feel a bit to big for my little family.
  14. This could have changed, but I was always under the impression that dogs could run free around the perimeter of the park, but had to be on leads within the main park (inside the bounderies of the horse track).
  15. I've just moved to Penge this week. We were renting a 30 bed semi detatched in Sydenham, and have moved in to an ex council flat in Queen Adelaide Court (estate just by Penge East). It does feel a bit "poorer", but it doesn't feel unsafe or anything like that, and you do get the impression that changes are afoot. And lets not forget, teenagers have been stabbed to death in ED, we live in London, crime happens. The Sainsbury's is quite big, and it's great that there's a Lidl. The High Street could be better, but equally I hope the KFC stays even if lots of little indie places open! I've yet to sample the pubs, but popped in to the weatherspoons for a quick bite yesterday (kitchen still in chaos at home), and would agree that as wetherspoons go, this is a nice one. I'm feeling quite unsettled at the moment because I hate moving and was happy in Sydenham, but I think I will be happy in Penge once we've got the flat sorted.
  16. And there's a giant evil cat, what's not to love.
  17. Catford is okay, nice in parts, not so nice in other parts.
  18. Dont worry Kel, I was thinking the same thing. I clicked on this thread hoping it would be about the little square grave in the graveyard which was apparently a little old woman who sat on her doorstep, and couldn't be straightened out after she died, so was burid in a square box. No idea if that's true, but that's what our primary school teacher told us.

  20. Doesn't matter if you're a fully grown martial arts expert. Four or five 17 year old lads would be able to hurt you.

Different class of player though Mick. And I suspect you know it!
  22. I wonder whether this is the same group I saw on Whateley Road a week or so ago. They were riding small motor bikes (probably 125cc). I was walking towards Lordship Lane, and heard a bike coming LOUD, turned to see some dick doing a wheelie down the centre of the road, followed by 4 of his mates. Not one of them was wearing a helmet or anything else on their heads. Completely evil of me, but I found myself thinking "I hope one of you dicks has an accident".

What are your thoughts on Ozil at this stage PD? Was chatting to a gooner friend (season ticket holder) the other week, and he was saying he's not a great individual, but a player that works well within a team. Just seems to me that if you're paying ?42m, you want a player that can win a match for you when you're struggling. What do you reckon? I have no particular opinion by the way, as I've not watched him that closely, just interested to know whether you see things the same as another gooner or if you have a different take on it.
  24. Unfortunately this is a difficult one as the council won't get involved at all. We have a very large tree leaning dangerously in to our garden (we rent) and landlords have had no joy at all getting the owners to do anything about it. Fortunately we're moving out tomorrow, but I swear it's a matter of time until it comes down. Hopefully you have reasonable neighbours...
  25. Excellent, I look forward to trying one. Strae, jokes aside I suspect you're spot on! Just rechecked mortgage and it's actually 5.190% we're paying. "Help" to buy certainly comes with a price.
