  1. But when he submitted this shite, an editor allowed it in to the paper. It is a rag, and peopke reading it are thick.
  2. Heard this woman on Radio 4 briefly this weekend. it seems they'll let anyone be a barrister these days.
  3. Fair play to both of you. I just tried having a go, but a little person trying to look at my screen was not conducive to getting in to the zone!
  4. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1073540 I think the woman is talking utter shite, but someone asked me to post here to get some ED mum opinions.
  5. Okay. Although there are no rules about doing it, you could do it yourself. Don't mean that in a nasty way, just saying incase you felt it was against forum lore.
  6. Thats how I think of it. The art school students Rosie talks about are what I probably would have called crusty (not a negative term at the time). It's all labels innit.
  7. Plus there is only one pub at Westfields, and I can imagine a "no football shirts" sign appearing in the window pretty quickly!
  8. Only good thing about Greengate going is that a Tescos opened on the site, which meant I had an option other than chicken for lunch when I was based around the corner from there. But yeah, lots of closed pubs. Then again, I went back to Liverpool in November for the first time in 10 years, and although there were loads of new and busy places in town, my old stomping ground had a lot of boarded up pubs which used to be great. Pubs are closing everywhere. Still though, Bolyn will suffer.
  9. Not 20 years ago there weren't! Hipster didn't exist then. Hipsters took all the cool stuff and made it annoyingly pretentious. That is my honest opinion. Since my early 20s I've always liked drinking in "old skool" pubs, because I hate hate hate places that are "cool and hip". Total load of wank.
  10. Frustrated barrister stuck at home looking after kids, looking for an srgument. Nothing to see here. Sorry, but if her husband is on a barrister's wage, they don't need a couple of grand a year extra. This is just a good example of how trying to do something for one group of people will always get a rise from another group. There are loads of people out there who say "it's not worth me going back to work, I'd barely be better off after childcare costs". I think it's good to give these people a bit of help if going back to work is what they want. Of course though it will annoy other people. This woman just comes over as a bit of a knob though to be honest. "Discrimination" my arse.
  11. But it was never hip. Crusty? Yes. Punk? Yes. Grunge? Yes. Rude Boys? YES! Lots of other things? Yes Hipster? Hell No!
  12. New X 20 years ago was where I cut my teeth as a teenager. Lots of squat parties and pop tarts to eat.
  13. Mottingham = Car keyrings stolen from the hat.
  14. The locals where I work are basically saying that the real problem is that the Bolyn area will die a massive death as there are lots of businesses around there that are hugely reliant on the footy. Within Newham Stratford has become it's own little bubble with Westfields and loads of investment to make it look nice for the games last year. The rest of the borough hasn't really benefitted at all, and is going to shit.
  15. Sidcup people. That's where the real party people live!
  16. Forest Hill - Canada Water (Overground) Canada Water - Stratford (Jubilee) Sorted.
  17. I quite liked the idea od Orient getting hold of it. Would have been funny watching them play in front of the front row each match.
  18. Was at Reading 2007, and whilst there were loads of us and we had a good time (and there were some great bands on the line up), it set me on the path away from festivals. It was everything that UncleBen describes above, and add teenagers settibg fire to tents on the last night. Was at WOMAD a couple of years back, and would do that again.
  19. I hadn't read all the posts earlier, but yes, my older daughter (the cautious one who didn't walk til 16 months) was very advanced in other areas, but slow on physical stuff (still not really potty trained and she's getting on for 4!). The younger one couldn't wait to get going, but doesn't seem as interested in other stuff. Think it's about confidence and their own priorities.
  20. I'm kind of with woodrot. Loved FT back in the day, but have seen it all so many times now that I usually can't get in to it anymore. Bit like Fawlty Towers. Although I still love "Speed 3" (the one with the milkfloat).
  21. And that is basically the point Quids. Anyone CAN manage without a car. If you suddenly lost your car, you'd just have to. It just means approaching things differently. I make no judgement either way of people choosing to have a car or not. I do laugh though when people say they simply couldn't get by without a car.
  22. My older daughter walked at 16 months, and just seems to be a more cautious person. My younger daughter walked at 9 months, and is a nutter! Tell nursery to do one. She'll do it when she's ready.
  23. We might just make the top 4 yet! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21865753
  24. Fair play! I've not tried again since my last post, but sure I'll get in to it at some stage.
