Please tell me these places are still there, unspoilt, ungentrified....

The CPT, that used to be a fine pub. -
I "look forward" to having a look tonight... I didn't think there would be that much Rogers in it, as I was under the impression most opf the filming was done during King Kenny's ill fated reign towards the end of last season, and the cameras went away after Rogers' first match. Is that not correct?

We will be going to the October 20th march, but not because of child benefit, but rather some of the serious cuts that are being made. I would be very interested to hear what people feel they will have to sacrifice to make up for the loss of their CB. I feel pretty sure that none of you will say that your child won't be fed and clothed anymore. CB is a wonderful thing, and it would be great if the country still had enough money for everyone to have it, but we need to be realistic. We also chose where to live. I am born & bred in East Dulwich, and now live (rent) in Sydenham with my family. We don't have loads of spare cash, but we chose to live where we live. If we want more money, we could go and live somewhere cheaper. What is a worry is that CB is a benefit paid directly to the mother, and there are probably a lot of women out there who don't have much access to any other funds, who's husbands hold the purse strings. For these women, it could be a very serious loss.

I missed the Liverpool show last week, will have to have a look tonight. I am surprised to hear Maxxi say it is showing Liverpool in a positive light, I thought it would be absolute car crash telly.

MacMillian Cancer Support World's Biggest Coffee Morning

This would explain why there was a big cake sale at work this morning! Knew it was for MacMillan (brilliant cause), but hadn't realised it was a big national event. -
That's why I am rubbish at this game, because I always pick scores that would be cracking games rather than using a bit of realism.

I've not made up my mind, I do like things about what he is doing, but I think his hand has been forced with the youth policy because he didn't get funds for more players. I do cringe at times about the things he says, butwhen Hodgson was "too respectful" to opposition, or honest about downfalls, he got slaughtered by the fans. They like a bullish strong manager.

Another master stroke from Rogers I see. Right, some of our players have reputations for diving, and hence have "boy who cried wolf" syndrome, so if we all start diving, they won't be so obvious. Okay Brendan. Just when I think you're doing good things with youth... Not like you to have no words about Liverpool Atticus :)

So, why is Terry's ban only half as long as Suarez's was? If The FA said about Suarez that just using a word was enough, whatever the reasons behind it, then surely that should stand for everyone and the punishment should be consistant.

And Liverpool's young guns got a win. I'm really liking this (pretty much enforced) youth policy, I think it bodes well.

Just googled the killing. Are people raving about ther Danish original, or the american version?

I loved it back in the day. Rewatched maybe 4 or 5 years ago, and still enjoyed, but thought it had dated really badly. Londonmix, I love "I Claudius". Watched it along side Rome a few years back for a laugh. Quids, agree about BB & The Sops, cut above the rest, although The Wire also up there. What's this Killing all about then?

Isn't that a chili peppers album?

CP does have some nice little places to eat, not so much the ice cream place (which I've not seen yet) although I do like the idea of galettes. It has a veggie / vegan place which is popular with those freaks too.

Thing is, a cone is something you enjoy on a hot day. Tubs of B&J / Hagen Das and the like are things that women eat on the sofa whilst watching a chick flick, it has nothing to do with heat. I blame "Sex in the city" myself.

"Nobody watched it and it cost HBO a fortune" What sort of excuse was that?!?!

Just found this post when I did a search for Forest Hill Pools, but I wonder if you are the American mum (sorry, mom) who I have chatted to by the big yellow slide in the Baxter Field playground. My little girl loves that slide (or used to before she turned in to a total wuss over night).

BrandNewGuy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Milk, cream, eggs, sugar and fruit or flavouring > of your choice. Will that do? Wouldn't have much of a shelf life though. Don't get me wrong, my wife makes fresh ice cream, and it's awesome, but if I'm buying some from a shop, Cookie Dough is a favourite. There is room in my life for both, and I won't turn my nose up at one because it isn't the other. I love lamb, and you can't beat a home cooked lamb steak. Occasionally though I enjoy a doner kebab. womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When do you get time to watch these? I always feel > its a huge acheivement to get a whole hour to > myself with a tv- how do you manage a box set? I did a lot of them pre kids. These days it's after they go to sleep. Unfortunately this can be late in the evening, so if you get sucked in and watch 3 or 4 episodes, it can make for late nights. I remember (before kids) me and my wife storming through 5 series of The Wire, and being very tired at work in the mornings. bon3yard Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ...oh and the late lamented Deadwood. Agree, but as I say, it's such a shame it was never finished off properly, left me feeling very unfulfilled, I wanted to know what happened next. I know you could say this about most shows you love, but at least if they have a final episode you get some sort of closure on the characters. With Deadwood it was just cut off, and the planned future series, or talk of a couple of films never happened.

Know exactly what you mean about it's similarities to Northern Exposure, although I quickly lost track of that when they put it on very late. It was well over 10 years ago though, it ran from 1990 - 95 (according to Wiki), I was definitely in my teens.

The Breaking Bad thread made me think it would be good to have a thread about series worth watching. The obvious ones The Sopranos The Wire Six feet Under Deadwood (but frustrating premature ending) Rome Boardwalk Empire (needs to get going a bit) True Blood (silly, but pretty cool) Basically anything HBO except Sex in the City. Breaking Bad (possibly the pick of the bunch for me) Mad Men Damages Currently looking promising Lilyhammer Have heard good things about Game of thrones, watched the first episode, and will need to give it another go, as maybe it just wasn't a good night to try it. Someone mentioned "Boss" on another thread, which I'd never heard of, but sounds interesting. Have heard some good things about The Badge, but personally I'm not that in to police dramas except The Wire. Would be interested to hear whether it's worth a look though.
