  1. I'm not an intellectual heavyweight at all Grok. But do you not think that the police picking this guy up and sorting him out could be the most positive outcome? No probably not, because that would take some thought. You really are sad. Go and shoot your crossbow at something.

Penguin said they despise an idea, not a person or group. Not ridiculous and definitely not offensive.

Just saying DE have raised my rent 70% is not an accurate statement is it?

And people's beliefs should not excuse wasting land.

If anyone does have a lived one there and cares about the grave, then they'll know about the plans, it's not like they're going to turn up and be surprised.

Yep, this was my thought. I'm another that has never heard of this film club at the EDT, but unless they were showing something really interesting (probably like a documentary or something like that) I'd go to the nice warm and comfy cinema every time.
  8. This is the EDF at it's worst. The OP was abused by someone that probably has mental health issues, but when you're with your young kids that's your priority, the OP later called the filth, not so that this man could be given a kicking in the back of a meat wagon, which is a typical stupid comment from Grok.
  9. Indeed. It has been said before about the EDF (especially in the early days of forum drinks and stuff) that it was like a cyber pub.
  10. Dear Ms Jones Contrary to what is published on-line and elsewhere, The Dulwich Estate did not increase the rent on 18 Half Moon Lane by 70%. Our policy is not to discuss arrangements between us and our tenants since we regard these as private and confidential. However, the facts of the situation with regard to the tenancy of 18 Half Moon Lane are as follows: i) The lease on 18 Half Moon Lane came to an end on 18 July 2015 and the Estate served (in 2014) the appropriate notice under Landlord & Tenant legislation; ii) The Tenant did not make the relevant application to court to protect its right to a new tenancy; iii) The rent had been fixed for the five period from July 2010 to July 2015; iv) The notice served by the Estate under i) above, proposed (for a new lease) a maximum increase in rent of 29% (equivalent to 4.8% p.a. for the five year period 2010 to 2015 ) but this proposed rent was negotiable. However, the Tenant did not negotiate this but remained in occupation until the end of this month (at a rent reflecting the market value of the property in mid 2015). It is unfortunate that the toy shop is closing but I trust that you will recognise from the facts, above, that the Estate has not acted unreasonably. We do not seek to replicate the average high street: in our parade, we have independent businesses (with the exception of Oxfam). Yours sincerely John Major Chief Executive Direct dial: 020 8299 5600 The Dulwich Estate In the interests of fairness.
  11. If at a warmer time of year, the Woodhouse has a food garden.

They were from Cornwall and retired back down that way after giving up the pub mid 90s. Before them it was Mike & Gloria, they were local people. My dad was never the landlord, but worked there for years for M&G then B&H (not the fags). Then when my sister turned 18 Brian and Heather gave her a job.
  13. Bloke in that londonist article basically groats about having priced people out of the area before moaning about an inevitable consequence. I'm absolutely no fan of the Dulwich Estate, but how can anyone be surprised? How do the new rents compare to a unit on Lordship Lane out of interest?

  15. Foxy what do these pubs charge for a bottle of the alcoholic equivalent (a bottle of regular Becks)?
  16. I believe Jeremy works in PR. "The Victoria, where young dreams go to die".

Was that the Herne Hill forum then?
  18. There are some decent alcohol free beers these days. But the pubs take the piss and charge pretty much what they'd charge for the real thing (whereas in shops they're way cheaper).
  19. The bloody CPT. How many more times do you need telling?
  20. Exactly. I'd often go to the pub alone, knowing I'd see friendly faces when I got there. And some of those friendly faces became actual good friends. With the exception of old school friends, that is how I met the majority of my pals.
  21. And have you been to the sorting office?
  22. Well it is Peckham ;-)
  23. Surely that's the point of putting the notice on the door? Everyone knows where they stand, sorted. But yeah, if you want people to come in and spend their money whilst the baby sleeps in a pram, then there are going to be waking babies and crying. That's to be expected. What is unnaceptable to me is parents that seem to be able to ignore said screaming and carry on whilst everyone else's nerves are set on edge. I always want to go and pick up and crying kid, and have an irrational (well maybe not totally irrational) hatred of people that just leave them to cry. Especially on bloody buses!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, going off topic there.

You mean let them go to ruin. Because no one living actually has any connection to those graves. That's right isn't it?
  25. The Victoria in Peckham used to have a kids play room. And The Herne was always very child friendly. Not sure if this info is up to date, but worth checking those.
