Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage
StraferJack replied to PinkyB's topic in The Lounge
Marie - this IS the irrational rage thread I don't mind sitting next to people generally but when it's just the 2 of us on the upper deck of a bus and it's a stranger, it's just a bit creepy. Even if it is the-e-dealer I'm sat by the window - if I ask the person to move just so I can sit somewhere else that seems rude. Whereas if they just voluntarily sit somewhere eelse that seems normal -

I thought the highway code said they do have right of way? "Section number 198 Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road." -

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

oooh - i just remembered another one. Getting to the end of the journey and the train/bus is now largely empty but the person sat next to you just won't go and occupy and empty seat - it's just you and a stranger sat close together -

?People who dont sit by the windows and hope noone will try and sit next to them on the train/ bus etc. Or leave a bag or pretend to be asleep. also those who dont queue at bus stops.? Right as a long time commuter a few points 1 ? the people leaving a bag on the seat? Death to them ? seriously, who do they think they are?? 2) not sitting by the window. Hmmmm,, trickier this one. Undoubtedly abused by some for same reason as #1, it?s also true that some people are getting off soon and to sit by the window means the ?excuse me? shuffle where the person who just sat down on the outer seat has to get up (with lots of people in the aisle rushing by). Basically it CAN make the whole thing needlessly hassly 3) Not queueing at bus stops. Again, sometimes people will be selfish idiots regardless and if it?s a 37 bus stop for example there is no excuse (as it usually doesn?t share a route at most stops But if you are standing at the bus stop outside Nero on LL you have multiple bus routes, all possibly arriving at same time, you don?t know who is getting on which one until the very last second (sometimes THEY don?t know themselves and just stand in front of the bus you try and get on). So whilst I would like everyone to be polite and after you at the bus stop, reality is it?s not always possible -

people have corrupted this thread - it's now things that REALLY bother me, or cause me irrational rage -
This thread is just weird Good luck to the doctor in question but any thread in the ED specific section which is titled with a single person's name but purports to be about a medical centre and funds, and which is started by a poster with a track record on people from other countries shouldn't be entertained in the first place in my view, the OP should have had a ticking off and the thread moved/closed. Would Tarot have started a thread called Dr Smith all other factors being equal? Again, look at their track record and I would suggest not

Peter, that's a pretty flawed post right there "If you don't like the deal your employer is offering you simply look for another job. That's what happens in the private sector." if that's the case, then why don't all those people in the private sector apply for the public sector jobs they are so jealous about? Exactly But let's take your other argument, and let's assume that all of the strikers thought "I'm off" - wouldn't that cause rather more problems than a day's strike? Maybe you think "well there are plenty of unemloyed out there" - which begs 2 questions 1) do you WANT some of those unemployed teaching your kids? 2) Where do 3 million jobs suddenly appear from? You have 3 million union members off doing other jobs on your advice - they haven't just abandoned work. Which means 3 million extra jobs just appeared from somewhere. Where?

How will you cope with the teachers' strike?
StraferJack replied to emc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When you decide to have children, you do realise there will be days, outside your control, where you have to make alternative arrangements at short notice, right? No parent gets through life without having to do that several times, for any number of reasons. You'll be fine, just like you always are -
well I don't know about a TINY minority - I'll go with significant. or enough. or even if it's (off the top of my head you understand) 1%, that 1% could do a lot more than they are doing. I'm just sayin'. You can't MAKE them do anyting (god forbid you should even suggest such a thing) I'm not trying to position the strike as anything - I'm just picking up on comments that peolpe against the strike have made when they say that lots of other people are suffering (ie it's they who are widening the strike position) In fact I didn't even mention banks in my post so I'm not sure why you can accuse me of that?

be sure to not listen to any BBC radio or websites whilst you're at it (cue people going "ooh BBC - now there is something I'm not bothered by") -
"If the government is using the revenue to give perks to public sector workers that they cannot have themselves " Whilst is should indeed be noted that many in the private sector have indeed seen many "perks" decimated (the pain of reading my last pension update still smarts), it's fair to say that phrases "public" and "private" sector are too broad brush What many people (from the Occupy protesters and the strikers) have noted is that for many people in the private sector it's bonanza time still. Simply put, money is out there. And whilst any attempt to suggest those well off could contribute more is met with "politics of envy!!" or "they will leave the country! leave them alone!!", whereas any time a meagrely salaried person does something to keep what they have been contractually promised is met with "tough titties" So yes, there is a big pool of piss, but it's not impossible to disperse. But the people with the hose are inside and don't want to get dirty

haven't a number of negotiations in recent years been succesful as unions have accepted changes to practices and inflation links, but on the promise that pensions would be protected? (paraphrasing, but that's the gist) I'm private sector, have been all my life but the phrase "race to the bottom" is key here I especially object to people being called greedy for trying to protect such a relatively small, but important to them, sum of money. But when the very wealthy threaten to leave the country it's all "well, who can blame them" My whole working life I've known that my taxes are funding public-sector pensions and it has never once bothered me. Good luck to them I say. People complain about banker-bashing as being the politics of envy but here we see envy in it's true form

Absolutely. But annoyingly I can't quite shake it. I'm much better at not being upset when my team loses but I still enjoy a good win. And none of it has anything to do with my life. It's crazy -

Cow's milk or formula from 12 months?
StraferJack replied to HollieES's topic in The Family Room Discussion
a lot of the talk here has been about nutritional value rather than pleasure of eating food. One might arguably be healthier for a diet without milk or cheese but it's not a diet I would choose, or inflict on my child. If they choose to abandon dairy as they grow then that's fine. -

Watching Walcott's strile ruled out for offside (correctly) just reminded me how close we were against Barca last year - red card for RvP in that game inexcusable on teh officials part

Sue I can't see that replying on here alleviates that stress in anyway. If Admin has told you both to stop it, I would just report whoever breaks that request and have the posts removed
