David Lowery just wishes things could be how they've always been

Tablet: Help needed to open email attachments
StraferJack replied to Alan Medic's topic in The Lounge
ANY kind of attachment, or specific ones? (such as word documents) if you send a small .txt file can it open that (it should) but more proprietary file formats it may need specific software - mayve "documents to go" or something ? -
And what's the answer you respond with?

I love the Castle too - but didn't the pub have a rep long before the forum? As landlady said tho "contributed to" In any case, back in the days of regular forum drinks, Castle played host to one of my favourite nights. And as well as many posts saying how much they hated the Castle, many of us on here posting opposte view so it's swings and roundabouts really If thr forum didn't exist there is still all of the pub review sites (beerinthevening, fancyapint etc etc) and your tripadvisors et al. It's 2013 so in the real world all landlords and landladies have to engage or at least accept that some people will post negative stuff. Far better to address it in the same arena as some other places have (and some others notably haven't - waves at the Greek place on Melbourne Grove)

Louisa. Totally agree. Just as plausible. Exactly the same level of plausibility.

What does that even mean Aquarius ? I read your post. You claimed your cat was put to sleep, but like Stephen kings per semetary it came back? And I'm defensive and impatient?

It's as if people look at David Copperfield or David Blaine and go "wow. amazing. Must be true"

Never mind what he got out of it, what did you? Hadn't done it before and not since? If it was genuinely powerful or, god forbid, useful, why not pursue this fantastic avenue

Thing is, a lot of spiritualists pride themselves on not falling for religion. So i felt introducing god into argument was counter productive. But yknow. Jesus saves. Cats claw. Animals talk. Whatever

I give up

Obvs. But I was making a deliberate effort not to derail the argument via religion

Nothing spiritual about it Don't claim anything "spiritual". It bestows a gravitas that this made up nonsense doesn't deserve. I wanted it to be true. When I was 12. I wanted it so bad I read and consumed everything available. But as I grew up I realised it was nonsense. And in those 30+ years, communications and tech have expanded exponentially. And still there is nothing. No documented anything But people who "want" to believe. Grown up adults. Still persist in ticking off others for not " seeing" I'm angry because it shows that if people can believe this them they can believe anything. And in the real world where science and politics and rolling up sleeves is what get things done that ticks me off People who believe this are one step from scientoligists. Not even that And if ever my "arrogance" is proven wrong and I have to eat humble pie I'll do it gladly But guess what.... It won't happen Has there ever been any, any, consequence to anyone witnessing this stuff? No. Just people "seeing stuff" How convenient

"A friend. A family member. I was told." Over and over again A lot less "I was there and I definitely saw/recorded/was with someone else who saw same thing" And instead of "hmmm good point" it's all " some people don't want to believe and are just plain rude bwah hah hah" Grow the fuck up people Santa. Not real Yeti. Not real UFO. Not real Ghosts. Not real

Banning fizzy drinks at Dagenham primary school
StraferJack replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
Chemicals and sugar I could live with. Maybe But sunny d had vegetable oil in it. That's just wrong in something pretending to be "healthy" and fruit juicy -
Be realistic - The Ivy House and a small recatangular unit on North X Road aren't even remotely comparable Regardless of the plans for Ivy House, it's architectural features played a major part in saving that building from redevelopment With all due sympathies to Chris and others affected, a tiny bland unit on a small parade of shops isn't going to swing any votes with heritage organisations

14th Jan from 17.40hrs...no trains from London Bridge to East Dulwich
StraferJack replied to hibbs's topic in The Lounge
Not everyone has smartphones but first thing I do before I leave work is check train apps or websites. You can and should blame station for lack of info but once you start taking more control of the info yourself the happier you'll be -
a few years away from having to worry about secondary schools so haven't given it much thought yet (who knows what changes the next 5-10 years will bring to education system? Seems little point worrying about it until then) But the average teenager walking the streets seems pretty sound and undamaged

he got sued by an ex worker in the US who had lost his job because of the public recoiling from the product - don't think he got anywhere with it I too thinkn JO is a decent cove and whilst his mannerisms (particularly in the American shows) grate, I suspct they are largely teh result of insecurities and shyness

I am commuting and so far so good. Average train journey 1 hour with a bit of walking either side I used to bus from ed, so that could often be in same ballpark Depends where you work tho. I'm in blackfriars and walk to london bridge. 20 mins and good excercise in a sedentary job. Than london bridge train is less than an hour direct (Lewes bound). At commuting times Trooping down from ed itself makes the journey more complicated

"Serious academic research has been done and probably still is being done into various aspects of parapsychology, including by controlled experimental methods." That sounds good - what progress has been made? What outcomes have shown any progress from "we think this exists but can't prove it" people keep asking for links to results but noone has done so yet

why is it strange Sue?
