  1. Is he more mental than TY? Hell yeah Does he wield as much influence? No So... Worse?
  2. If only you had known in advance eh? To be fair I think the food in porterhouse can be half decent Taylor walker rule west end but where I work in blackfriars, it's nicholsons pretty much everywhere. Glad you enjoyed it but anytime I've been the food tastes of despair ;-)
  3. It's basically spam Search the first sentence on google http://www.londonschoolofislamics.org.uk/DiscView.asp?mid=48807&forum_id=1& It's a pile of horseshit with no leverage in the real world (unlike.. Say... Toby youngs school malarkey). But hey ho.
  4. Plus, yknow... Tennis and that
  5. I think guardian readers are silent e cause its an unintelligible post by a first time poster trolling. But knock yourself out with your weird passive aggressive jibes
  6. A tight budget? These prices? http://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/thebearandstaffleicestersquarelondon/pdf/thebearandstaffleicestersquarelondon-lunch_menu.pdf
  7. re: the new burger places. People do realise the queues are 2 hours long around lunchtimes (possibly all day)? - the hype train is big for these things
  8. Jessie Apologies if I came over as too strong - I wasn't trying to have a go at you I was just reminded of the time I put a shout out for somewhere nice to eat in a part of town I was unfamiliar with and got lots of replies along the lines of Pizza Express/Strada/ some chain pub As you and Jeremy point out, not gourmet but not bad if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful. Maybe. But what bothered me at the time (when it was me after a recommendation) was the subtext that I was SO dumb, that I needed to be told Pizza Express do pizzas. I KNOW that if I go somewhere populous anywhere on this island I can find multiple chains selling exactly same stuff as where I came from. If I'm after a recommendation I'm looking for something specific to the location, something I can't find somewhere else Surely that's common sense rather than me be propscriptive of what you can and can't post? Maybe the OP found your recommendation far more helpful than anything I've written anyway . Post away

  10. and still you call them friends? Time to reconsider just what you've done with your life CB (hope they have a lovely day and you have a great time)
  11. [grump mode on] call me a square from the past, but if someone is asking for recommendations, does pointing them in the direction of a chain help? plus part of the reason Strada does "affordable" pizzas is the fact they don't give tips to the staff but use them to pay minimum wage And after I pointed out the hazards of Taylor Walker pubs and the gruel they serve someone recommends them! If you like that stuff then fine - but you don't need to seek/give recommendations for it - they are EVERYWHERE
  12. good man Adam - but as there is no actual race this year, improving on any ranking could be tricky
  13. Look, Ted and HmB What you don?t understand is that DJKQ has played tennis to (almost) the highest levels over the years so knows the score ? reputationally as well as officially ? on the players over the years. So if it?s good enough for her...
  14. oh for sure woody - thought your OP and follow ups were sound, and then others gave theirs. But usually there are a few counterbalances and this time there weren't, and then people started ripping Fay Maschler in the toasted thread for bigging up Sea Cow and it was started to look like an alternative reality. Good to see some more balance on there now (you STILL confined to the Lounge btw?)
  15. Without denying the truth of anyone who had bad service/food At SC, I'm going to weigh in with a more positive take To my undying shame I don't eat seafood so would normally give this place a miss, but the house and guests and pretty much everyone else does like seafood so I end up in here a bit, usually take out but ocassionally sit in and in all those times, not once has the food been off or the service mardy. The chips have been hit and miss over the years, with the misses not actually being bad but just a bit wooly compared to some others By all means flag up the bad instances but there is a danger of painting a one-dimensional picture of a broken business here and it ain't (as a non seafoodie I use the chipper next to ED Station with occassional visits to all the others mentioned)
  16. Drink of sidhues choice upon request. Well done
  17. Most of the pubs in Covent Garden are tourist traps and or the worst kidn of chain (ie not nice) - Taylor Walker have loads of pubs around there but the food is grim. As a tourist area the restaurant scene is picking up around there - and even old reliables such as Sagar would make the vegeterarians happy http://cheesenbiscuits.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/sagar-covent-garden.html 10 Cases is a bar /bistro nearby might suit everyone http://cheesenbiscuits.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/10-cases-covent-garden.html (yep I'm using the same blogger links, but he's a good one)
  18. as I said on 22nd June post "Anyone reading this wondering who? What? Why? Just come along. Have a drink. Meet some people. Hear the glorious recounting of Barry years gone by"
  19. " inches from bedroom windows. " sorry - for clarity, how many inches?
  20. Is that really true?
  21. Strypes. Ugh Villagers were/are ace tho
  22. I read somewhere that teh guy who looks like he is holding an ipad actually isn't - it's someone else pointing it in front of him so twattage was involved, but people might be associated the wrong face Anyway, The Stones - I thought they were great, especially Country Girl and Get Your Rocks Off. Not sure who the headliners were tho
  23. What Jeremy said I have no interest in raw milk (and was given the damn stuff enough as a child to know) but I can see why some people are interested I have no idea why anyone else wants to stick their nose in. It's not as if the mainstream dairy industry is going to grind to a halt, causing the kind of problems woody talks about (food commodity markets) Sourcing good quality fish and chips isn't helping with that either, but no-one barged into your F&C thread to talk about food commodity markets sheesh
  24. Sounds like noone is doing anything about anything Can you access her application and interview notes and is there anything on there to suggest dyslexia? If you can access work from say, 5 years ago is it appreciably better and has there been a deterioration or has it been there from day one? If it?s been a day one issue, then you would have to question why someone apparently unsuitable for the role was given the job, but at least acknowledge that dyslexia is the underlying problem and address it as best you can. Do they even realise, does it affect them outside work, reassign work etc etc If things have been getting worse then it could be that the term is just being used as an excuse for everyone to ignore the problem ? the problem being an undermotivated, badly performing worker who needs to pull up their socks good luck either way
