I don't think there is such a thing LG.

Long story short. Was thinking of using my old version (Genus 1982) for an end game in an annual family clash which I'm hosting. Having tested it out of myself, I scored 20% correct and then 13% correct on 10 questions from each category.I did much better in some than others. Given the players may not be much better than me it made me look at what other versions there are out there, and I came across the Trivial Pursuit Bet You know It version. Has anyone played it? I like the concept of a bit of betting being included. How did you find it? I loved this review on Amazon: I purchased this for my four year old Red Setter, Alberic, having been advised by his "dog trainer" that he showed signs of unusually high intelligence for a dog. Based on our experience with this particular game I have to conclude that his so called "intelligence" has been greatly exaggerated and I've unfortunately entered into a protracted and ongoing legal battle with the "dog training school" in question. In a purely human setting, I must say that the game is excellent and has provided my Mother, Grandmother and myself with many evenings of fun, unsullied by the filth that seems to be the only substance that the television seems to be capable of providing in this day and age. With Alberic however, the game never really got off the ground. Despite more than ten minutes of patient and careful explanation, he simply didn't seem to understand even the most basic rules, and after several hours of perseverance I must admit to failure. Alberic has now eaten four sets of dice (eight die in total), which promises a miserable and smelly day of board-game ancillary recovery tomorrow. Good, but not great.

I was here twenty years ago Louise and more. The area has improved overall. Those businesses you refer to are not of particular interest on a forum where what's interesting to most is what's new. It's not disrespectful, just human nature. You use a phrase 'the historical context of the area needs to be more embraced'. By whom and why and how? If someone only knows ED for say 5 years, well that's the limit of their experience. I'm just glad I wasn't in Ireland when Cromwell was around. Perhaps if I was to just live in the past I'd be telling everyone how naughty he was and want everyone to agree with me. If anything needs to be embraced it's the present, as basically it's the only thing you and I and everyone else has got. And it's not bad either.

The 124 Lordship Lane eyesore

I'd still like to know the answer to the question I asked you Louisa.

China..........things to know about living there
Alan Medic replied to Alan Medic's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for all the posts and suggestions. I will look up that book Hawley as it sounds like an interesting read. Everyone who posted so far has had something worth considering and I'm not overlooking, as sjsl commented on, the need to learn from your own mistakes. Last year he learned it not a good idea to ride a moped in Thailand (or anywhere) if you've never ridden one before. If it wasn't for the helmet he wore he may not be here now. Lucky boy. -
That's a fair point but frankly it's the British people who keep the monarchy so why shouldn't he say what he thinks about anything?

I think United finishing 4th is an improvement not an achievement. Are you now getting your kicks out of finishing ahead of United in 3rd? Times haven't changed that much but with maybe 2 or 3 quality players Arsenal will be title contenders like they used to be. Same for United. Jeez I'd rather Arsenal win the league than Chelsea any day as they can play football that's great to watch. As for Barca possibly winning a treble, I would argue that the Spanish league is easier to play in as there are less high intensity games than in England. They also won the Copa Del Rey playing at home. Madrid wouldn't allow the final to be played in their ground. By the way, where is the evidence of Yanited 'laughing at Arsenal'?

I will miss Iceland too. I dislke shopping but the great thing about there is you can get in and out quickly and get whatever basics you need. I will especially miss their spicy bean burgers. As for it being an eyesore, I do think it's shop branding (if that's what it's called) doesn't look great.Something about the colour. I've also found the staff to be particularly friendly, though on my last visit I was shortchanged by a checkout lady who I'd never seen before. I always pay with cash and she somehow registered ?25 on the till instead of the ?30 I gave her. There was no arguement once I and the people next in the queue pointed this out. Still, it made me wonder. I don't consider myself 'poor' as I always eat and drink, but it is better value to me than the Coop down the street which seems very expensive on the few visits I've had there.

Spanish after school classes for primary kids?
Alan Medic replied to ladybird01's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My wife teaches Spanish (including to kids) in ED. If you want to PM me to say what is reasonable for you I will ask her. Let me know their ages too please and what level they are at? On the other hand my son is fluent in Spanish though not a teacher.I know from how my wife prepares classes that more time is spent doing that than the actual class time itself (at least initially). It's important to keep the kids interested, and they are all different. It really depends on what you want and if the language is new to the kids. Though my son was born here his exposure to the language from when he was a baby meant it was easy for him. He wouldn't be able to commit to anything though for more than a few months as he is going abroad. I'm only guessing he would be interested but he has motivation as he needs to earn some cash before leaving. So if any of the above is of interest let me know. -
My son is going there for two years hopefully (he hopes). I've read a fair bit but he's too laid back about it to be bothered as he's going to Uni with some friends and lets everyone else do the thinking and/or make the mistakes. One thing that bugs me is that it would seem he needs to carry a lot of hard earned cash with him, which can always get lost/stolen. His HSBC bank here will charge him ?100 to open an account in China in advance. He also has to open an account with the bank connected to the Uni as their debit card is used to pay for everything/anything on campus. One question I don't know the answer to is if you can withdraw cash from any bank's ATM without charges, as you mostly can here. Things seem to be changing there very quickly so some things I have read may not apply now. Has anyone got any recent experience of the country and tips to offer which may help in general or specifically on this?

You could give them away to a good home. Selling kittens seems greedy to me. I don't want to open a can of ....catfood though, with this thought.

Amusing and probably accurate take on FIFA from John Oliver from pre WC in Brazil. I'm sure I spotted a WH scarf in one of the clips.

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

I don't have a bad temper RPC. I was merely trying to be polite in that the term 'bob' may not be familiar to younger people on the forum. It's old currency. It wasn't meant to be patronising. I think it's time for me to have a holiday. -

Hazard lights. If you put them on consider that unless your vehicle is fully exposed to other traffic it justs looks like you are indicating to come out of wherever you are badly parked. Other drivers only see both of them when they pass you. -
Well. Why did that happen?

SJ, he started it a while back. Not just on this occasion. So get off the fence please or read the holy thread. Just because potential new curry club 'members' may be considering it, does not mean they are new to the forum. Which bit is unnecessary? The number posting or the response? You can't agree with everyone.

Maybe think of it like this. Someone who needs to make a few bob* is being paid to deliver them. *Explanation available on request if required.
