  1. The term 'side return'. It's an extension (I've looked it up). It's on the side of a house. Ok. But what's 'return'? I don't know why this annoys me but it does.

I heard a United fan phone in to a station the other day. His thoughts were that now Fergie and Gill have left as such, everyone who was left were just commerically orientated staff including Woodward. Don't have the connections they used to have hence the problems in buying players. He may have a point and the next ten days will tell. I wonder how far down the pecking order Rojo was in terms of who we would like to buy? I've heard mixed things about him. Most South Americans worth their salt I think gravitate to Spain where the culture and climate are preferable to Manchester. I do hope United can buy at least a couple of quality players before time runs out.........

  4. NATO summit? What's that about James?
  5. Thanks Applespider. My post was an effort to accumulate information as quickly as possible. His luggage still hasn't been found. He has travel insurance but my instinct is to go for the airline even if it takes longer. It takes 21 days for it to be declared lost. Having sent them a message via their FB page I got a call today from Abu Dhabi saying they will chase up the bag people. They kindly told me that they would be happy to pay $40 a day for three days so he could buy essentials. Last year returning from the same place his flight was cancelled in Abu Dhabi. It took some time but I eventually got him the maximum compensation of 600 Euros + the cost of an additional flight. They don't like it though.
  6. Bloody hell Mick, you're out of my league. Good job I don't eat meat.
  7. Looks like it won Mick. You can keep your shirt and I'll keep my (out of date) crisps.
  8. Is it a nice shirt Mick? I have some crisps (out of date) and half a bag of sweets if that helps. Subject to things going wrong of course. If it wins will you buy me a drink?
  9. Don't blame me if it goes wrong Mick. I only remembered the last one 5 minutes before the off otherwise I'd have put it on here. That was supposedly a 'dead cert'. I've had no such assurances here.

How do people know these things? For what it's worth the same guy has tipped Blue Ridge Lane at Tramore in the 17.55, currently 10/3 on BF. 4 horse race. It was 9/4 this morning.
  11. Is it too early to say 'we want Tony Pulis'..........?
  12. That was bloody awful.
  13. I'm not sure who Palace could get that would be better than Pulis after what he pulled off last season. As for him being self interested, isn't everyone in that profession? The average timespan of a manager in a job in England is something ridiculous. It's unusual for one to leave a job in the PL of his own accord. Maybe a little birdie told him there's another more attractive one waiting for him. Time will tell.
  14. It is an insult isn't it? By definition are you not asking him does he serve high quality food or not?
  15. Have done.
  16. Yippee. Got a tip on a horse running in Tramore in a 4 horse race at 7/1. Was told it was a dead cert. How do people know these things?
  17. My son is on his way to Bangkok but having arrived in Abu Dhabi he is minus his luggage. Left behind in Germany it seems. Is the usual thing to do, to buy whatever you need until the luggage turns up and claim afterwards? Anyone experience this before? I will read up on it but thought I'd try here. He's flying on Etihad.
  18. Have Celtic sold anyone apart from their goalkeeper since they lost? Are they going to buy him back?
  19. On the subject of bless, why people have to say bless you if you sneeze. I refuse to do it and as everyone else seems to at work, I feel obliged to tell people that I have no authority/power to bless anyone, which I haven't, and I doubt they have either.
  20. Isn't this a bit like buying a pet and not knowing if you feed it dead mice or dogfood? ETA Not much help I know....
  21. My brother lives in another place mentioned in this thread, Mougin. His dog sleeps most of the time apart from when he decides to chase high flying airplanes away. I reckon that's probably Willie's forte too.
  22. Not a thread but a great quote: I just want to hang them by their nylon Primark tie to the chrome exhaust of their nonsense car and drive them slowly round the Catford gyratory.
  23. As you get older do you not find you'd prefer to drink wine or am I talking to the kids?
  24. I suggest you have tea and cake.

You mean dulwichmum I guess as you put a 'no comment' comment after her recent post. I for one am glad to see her back on the forum even if that post was a little OTT even by her standards.
