  1. Nontheless the higher-end retailers of ED can be mind-bogglingly arrogant. Perhaps the next few months will bring them to heel? Tell your ?250K p.a. to stick his money up his fundament. We dont need blow-ins to tell us what we already know.
  2. Early start - trotted down to ED station for the 06.12 to London Bridge. Only to find the gates shut and locked with about 12 disgruntled passengers hanging about outside. The bloke in the ticket office said that "I'm trying to get hold of Head Office - only they can open the gates, we cant from here" - even though the ticket office is about 10 yards from the gates. Typically about as much use as a chocolate tea-pot. We watched the 06.12 come and go. I got the 40 bus, a form of transport that I despise as a 2nd rate mode of transport imposed on SE London because Government cant be bothered to invest in a proper transport infra-structure for us. Tessa of North London - having finally admitted that the 2012 Hop, Skip and jump Games are a waste of money, when are you going to focus on the transport needs of your Voters? No tram, no ELLE. SE London becomes a transport backwater for another 20 years.
  3. So, EDF Choir's first performance at the WW then?
  4. I see CWALD as being more in Kirsty role.
  5. Mr MacGabhan would surely be singing "Fairytale of New York"?
  6. "Disco/Rave Music" - Oh joy.
  7. Wishing Well - for better or worse, its the Wishing Well.
  8. Oh Bloody Hell! Stop sodding around and make a decision.
  9. You could take 2 approaches: Use a poll to get a list of 12 venues and then use those for the year - the advantage of this is that the poll only has to be done once a year. However, Admin would have to keep an eye out for manipulation and hanging chads. or Do a monthly poll BUT to avoid repeating ourselves or manipulation the successfull venues, once visited are then out of the running for the rest of the year. However a monthly poll would involved alot of work for admin.
  10. That would take the burden of Georgia and me. Admin - is this possible on a monthly basis?
  11. Thus far we have had 17 venues recommended for the December drinks - which doesnt make the final decision making very easy. Hence the need for a rota.
  12. Too much thickener.
  13. Saphic Flu? That's a new one on me, but this is London and all things are possible. Strawbs, clearly in your fever you did not mean to say that you "like the ladies". Surely you "like the lady"?
  14. If somebody would care to prepare a composite proposal for submission to the next meeting of the T'Social Committee of the Supreme Soviet of East Dulwich - we will give it due attention at an appropriate time. In the meantime would the Stewards care to escort all dissidents to a suitable venue for re-education. Now, whats for lunch?
  15. As ever we have widely differing views as to where we should go - and many thanks for the ideas. We did say some time ago that we would try and alternate ED venues with ED fringe venues and we would try and include pubs and bars. Logically as Hoopers is ED Fringe then the next venue should be in ED, equally we havent been in a Bar for some time. T'Social Committee are pondering and will make a decision in the very near future, because someboy has to. Our suggestion for next year is that we come up with a 12 month rota of dates and venues. This will include ED and ED fringe venues, a range of hostelry types and will take into account the practicalities of travel, the season (venues with Gardens seem sensible in the Summer, being hopeful) and the mainstream appeal of places. What do you think of that idea? Once completed is there anywhere on the Forum the rota could be placed for reference purposes?
  16. Perhaps Nero is not real chap? We only have his/her word for it. Claims of "not having Man-flu" are deeply suspect but the focus on hygiene is a clear signal of the feminine. I may have to go back to bed, such is my suffering.
  17. As ever - you got our best sides every time! Well done Andrew, cant help noticing that in any and every photo of Mr Black he was surrounded by some of ED's finest Belles..
  18. Oh come on! The opening scene was clearly filmed in the Rotherhythe Tunnel.
  19. My tubes are still blocked. Will this mysery never end? If it goes on for much longer I fear I may have to take up my Grand-Father's service revolver and do the decent thing.
  20. Went to see Quantum of Solace last night and enjoyed it. Has the derivation of the title been mentioned yet? (cant be arsed reading the past 2 pages). Its a Fleming short story that notes that in the immediate aftermath of the death of loved one "There is not one quantum of solace" which makes sense of an otherwise odd title.
  21. On reflection, I dont mind. I quite like the idea of Adventure Bar. The smaller space that we had in Hoopers seemed to work. Cheap cocktails early on as well.
  22. It was a good night and one in which I stayed stunningly sober but, due to commitments 140 miles north, I had to leave before the true drunkeness started. Great to see so may new people. Anthony did indeed walk into the room and ask Moos and myself "Is this the East Dulwich Drinking Group"? A truly insightful query which did him much credit.
  23. Its terrible, women trying to make a band-wagon of our suffering. I had to come home early today, on a Friday! Had to spend the afternoon on my sofa watching the Military Channel. Ladies, get your own ailments!
