  1. I have never been able to comprehend how, given that our MP was Minister in Charge of the Olympics, we are getting ZERO benefit from the Olympic activity. All of the transport infrastructure is going elsewhere and I would give the East London Line phase 2 a cat-in-hells change of being delivered post 2012. There was a punlic consultation about a tram link from Camden to Peckham - but that has gone quiet. Whats the point in having an MP with power if she does bog all of fundamental benefit to the area? She may support this campaign or that that movement and wear a Dulwich Hamlet top when the cameras around, but we want to see better transport links, better schools and less crime.
  2. A Strip Club on LL - that made me laugh!! Too far away from the City methinks. Massage parlour maybe?
  3. or an estate agent or M&S Food or Starbucks
  4. Having a strange sense of deja vu ...
  5. *Niiice - although I am not sure the permed gypsy look will go down well on LL. With his empty wallet, permed hair, flowery skirt, head scarf and hoop earings - he may be mistaken for a miscreant* *Still, makes a nice change from the usual Jermyn St suits, egyptian cotton shirts and silk ties* *I think DM may hae a taken a toot too many of the Benalin*
  6. Interesting how sightings of Ms Jowell is around election time. I went to see her about a politically sensitive matter - the shutting of a government funded organisation. This would (and did) result in the loss of the jobs of local people - but was as a result of a Cabinet decision. A local MP would have put her constituents jobs first - she put the Government first and ran like a rabbit. I have no political axe to grind, but I am not impressed by Ms Jowells priorties.
  7. Perhaps the embalmed DM could be placed on the Goose Green island - thus the whole life of ED would revolve around her?

  9. *Curses! I would have been able to claim the Lounge for the non-smokers forever, FOREVER! If it werent for you pesky kids... oh well - can I have a toke of the lumpy one?*
  10. *Pulls on all-enveloping decontamination suit and advances on Keef with a very large butterfly net ...*
  11. I'm with you there Brendan - nobody threatens my right to have intercourse on the pool table of any given pub!!
  12. I am a Ginga and am proud of it - there are a HUGE % of Gingas in my family, but no persons of Irishness that I am aware of. As for the Neanderthal thing: "The Neanderthals are generally thought to have been a less intelligent species than modern man, Homo sapiens. They were taller and stockier, but with shorter limbs, bigger faces and noses, receding chins and low foreheads. They had a basic, guttural vocabulary of about 70 words, probably at the level of today's two-year-old, and they never developed a full language, art or culture" Well, that could be me ....
  13. They seemed to have adapted well in those countries with a ban that I have visited - Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Estonia. The stories of pubs going out of business are rather exagerated and I cant help thinking that a pub that is reliant on its cigarette sales alone for its profits is doomed anyway. As for civil liberties I think that the right to life outweighs the right to light up.
  14. In the current security alert - should we be broadcasting this to the whole wide world?
  15. Thats the geezer.
  16. I recycle and do all that other good stuff - its the right thing to do. We have a duty of care. I believe in global warming but am agnostic on the range of likely impacts that tend to get trumpeted. I think that alot of the "unusual" weather that we see is quite normal in a long term historical context i.e. tens of thousands of years. So the fact that its the hottest/wettest/whateverest weather in recorded history is but a nanosecond in climatic and geological time.
  17. There are many "Goose Greens" usually on the outskirts of town or city. It was where the outlying farmers would drive their geese to sell to the market traders who would then sell them on. Historically the area wasnt boggy it consisted of farm land where vegetables and salad crops were grown. Anyody remember the flash flood under the ED station bridge a few years ago? I saw a sea eagle and an otter and a basking shark outside the DIY shop.
  18. It would be nice to have an MP again.
  19. Its not mostly on land - a large proportion of the ice is on the sea - the land mass of the poles is quites small (and would have been a lot smaller if the Germans and Russians had been allowd to get away with it).
  20. It is here in Tallinn at the moment, having a Baltic break.
  21. *Straightens stetson and gives a particlarly cheesy smile - "Howdy"*
  22. No Clare, I think I may have confused them! The blonde haired one with the squished face.
  23. Saw Robson Green wandering down LL week or so ago. Mind you I saw Fariah Alam outside Selfridges and Harry Enfield sat outside a Pret all on the same day. I am fated.
  24. Ramallah-lama-lama-ding-dong
