  1. *Muses to self, this quiet room seems to be losing its allure. Also - why werent we all invited to shambles'wild party?* *Braces self for a scandie style breakfast of salmon and scarmbled eggs, think i will pass on the pickled herring*
  2. Sydenham and Crystal Palace seem to be the new places on the up that are still affordable; or do a loft conversion and dig out a cellar.
  3. Do the worms need - worming? I did a geography degree 20 years ago (yes indeed, I didnt have a clue what to do with my life on leaving school - so geography in Brighton it was). We were discussing all of the current environmental issues then, it has taken the world 21 years to catch on. i use low energy light bulbs and recycle. When I start growing plants on the balcony I may water them with my own urine as I do not have a fox problem.
  4. Clearly we can safely say that East Dulwich is NOT becoming too posh.
  5. I am indeed lovely, at least my Mother thinks so. I am indeed also an intellectual with catholic tastes and have spent the day visiting the medieval old town, museums and churches of Tallinn. Now to the nightlife.
  6. Sorry huguent it was 3am when when you left your last message. I was tucked up in bed. Can I be of service?
  7. Th reason that the DIY shop shut down for so long was to allow elvis to regenerate in a cryogenic chamber. Its true - ask him.
  8. Lots of dogs smile - they see humans gurning from them since puppy hood and just do it, get lots of attention and do it some more. We had a spaniel that did it.
  9. Well, they had one in sainsbos - could move it to opposite ED station and get oodles of commuter traffic and still pick up the trade going to sainsbos. sainsbos might prefer their own cafe/restaurant offer as this would give them a bigger margin.
  10. Its a common public sector thing. We are now being asked for invoices for work to be delivered next financial year. To give money back to the treasury is the hugest sin in the public sector. The treasury will not thank you for it (buggers up the sums) and you will get less money next year as you clearly arent capable of spending properly.
  11. YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a fantastic rown THIS will kick off!! Sits back in tallinn hotel room and waits for diatribe
  12. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh. Yuk.
  13. I have never worn a habbit in my life, even in Tallin, definately not here. Might suit me, plenty of room to breathe.
  14. There is a plan to bring a tram from Camden to Peckham via Waterloo - there was a big consultation exercise at the end of last year. Good for Mockney P. Yesterday i was one the train to ED from London Bridge. We ground to halt outside South Bermondsey, where it was announced that we would not be stopping at South Bermondsey or Peckham, etc, etc and that we would be re-routed to New Cross - no explanation. Most of the packed train got out at New Cross and had to get a train back to London Bridge to start all over again. This is the kind of incompetence that sends people wild.
  15. *Huguenot - from the front-bottom of my heart - I thank you* *Cant help that Terry Scott is looking a little tatty - and John Inman is starting to go a little green* *Am off to Estonia this evening, they have special mud baths for the rejuvenation of the front-bottom - expect to come back, quite literally, a new man*
  16. Given his lack of response - I would timidly suggest that your feelings are to an extent not so strongly reciprocated D-M. Perhaps you are frightening him away?
  17. *or Terry Scott - very strange*
  18. I burnt the jazz mags - the blow up dogs are nothing to do with me.
  19. Half Irish and half welsh children. Ooh there's enough there for a conference (a posh one)
  20. Sssshh - Quiet room
  21. *Congratulations Bagpuss - enjoy the tigers* *Decides that the Batdog war has all gotten a little out of hand* *Leaves as peace offering Starbucks latte for DM, dog-chew for Batdog and the donkey for Ana* *Sends apologetic letter to Martha Stewart* *Makes a warming fire from Razzles and settles down for a kip*
  22. Unfortunately it is not a collective instinct - it is an individual or tibal instinct. So our individual or tribal instinct to survive and thrive means that we compete for resources at the expense of other individuals and tribes even if this will lead to the destruction of the collective whole. For instance if we had a collective instinct for survival the international control of CO2 emissions would be easy; the more tribal survival instinct means that India, China and the US in particular are unwilling to give ground. Thus we are all stuffed.
  23. *Unfortunate that one of the daffs morphed back into his short, ginger policeman form and had his parts ripped off by the scroffulous mutt* *Wander up the upper paddock that is happily free of dogs, bag women and other forms of disturbance* *Time for a nap*
  24. Keef that view holds only if you see mankind as being outside of nature. Which we are not. We are an organism that acts to procreate our species at the expense of others - much as other do, its the selfish gene. We are more successfull and so that is threatening our own future and the futures of other species. Our rape of the planet is as natural as the exploitation of a host animal by parasite. The death of the host brings the death of the parasite. Farmers protect their livelihood from foxes. If somebody or something started taking your property from you, you would act to stop it. The fact that this results in the death of a fox is somewhat irrelevant in the context of those of us who are carnivores (me included) and are therefore complicit in the slaughter of many thousands of creatures in our lifetimes. The main issue is that many people are dislocated by the death and destruction that facilitates our comfortable life style. We either start living more challenging life-styles or we accept the destruction.
