  1. I can report that due to protestations from the Commie, Pinko, Enviro, lentil weaving, hairy-legs Brigade; Swan is off. It has been replaced by Peasent.
  2. See, curry and stories from a Fireman. Hot in a number of ways.
  3. Cool. Next Curry Club meet is on Tuesday 19 April at the Mirash.
  4. Next Curry Club on Tuesday 19 April. Mirash anybody?
  5. A marvellous evening at Omrith. Seven of us, good food, pleasent lavatories, free apres snifter and a lift home. One minor issue relating to the conduct of a member. I must emphasise that the breaking of furniture at an ED Curry establishment is concidered to be in breach of our code of conduct. Sitting on a 3 legged (formally 4 legged) chair, whistling tunelessly does not pass muster and is concidered conduct unbecoming. You know who you are. Hang your head in shame.
  6. One of the new 484s whizzed past me today. It actually smelt new. The bus drivers are wearing smart new unforms and get out of the bus and salute as passengers get on and off ... maybe.
  7. How very odd. I have just phoned them and they say that they have a full alcohol licence.
  8. Who is coming? Post here or send a PM so that I can book a table. I suggest meeting at the Forest Hill Tavern next door at about 7.15 and then eat at 8.00. Meet at the Clock House pub at 7.00 for those that fancy walking up together?
  9. He always looks like that.
  10. A black-garbed assassin. With a twinkling smile, erudite reparte and sharpened stilleto hidden in a high top patent leather thigh length boot.
  11. I have a Zones 1 and 2 Travel pass on my Oyster and so never bother swiping on a mid-entrance bus in those zones as I have nothing extra to pay. I only swipe when I am outside of the zones and so pay-as-you-go applies. I catch the 521 every day and that seems to be the way with most people. There are regular revenue inspections and few people get caught out or try to get off the bus early.

  13. Sean is currently on special Forum leave undertaking under-cover work somewhere in the Middle East. This may or may not relate to the possibility of opening a Marks and Spencer Food in Tehran. Please do not pass this on.
  14. One week to go curry lovers!! Monday 21 March at Omrith.
  15. We've had the first "M&S coming to Lordship Lane" thread of the season. Spring is here, Spring is here.
  16. Pole dancing club on the 2nd floor I hear, Waitrose on the ground floor. Heard it on the bus, must be true.
  17. Unfortunately England never got out of bed, fortunately they didnt need too. I suspect that Ireland will meet a different England.
  18. Is it me, or have some of the earlier trains to LB shrunk? I and a number of others position ourselves further up the platform only to have to trot back down as the expected coaches arent there. I try for an earlier train to avoid over-crowding only to find that the earlier trains are over-crowded becauses they are shorter.
  19. The local Southern Manager has an active thread on this Forum and has done so for some time. If you have any specific queries - ask him. A generalised whine doesnt do anything constructive. I find that the service is generally good, I have used ED station for over 20 years and there have been significant improvements especially over the old Connex service.
  20. Feck off!! I am without offspring not because I am a Jaffa but because I have no wish to take charge of very small people. Children are lovely, as long as you can hand them back - once they have been whipped into a screaming hyperactive frenzy fed with brightly coloured sweeties and fizzy drinks. Frankly a long weekend in Japan would be more attractive.
  21. Quids - I KNOW that there are disabled spaces at Sainsburys, what I am saying is that I dont see why parents should have equally preferential treatment. I am sure that those with genuine mobility problems would appreciate a few more spaces. Literally billions of people have been able to produce and raise healthy children without the nescessity of being a few feet closer to the front door of Sainsbos, a requirement for shopping trolleys with baby seats or indeed a covered walkway to get to the front door. The bleating about people who nick those spaces lacked a sense of proportion. If you need more space than I do to open and close the car door, park further away next to an empty space. There are always empty space next to the Nursery in the far corner - ironically.
  22. Why do parents need special treatment? They dont have a disability, they have a child. Presumably they thought about the pros and cons before having that child. Disabled people should have dedicated spaces next to the main entrance, its not their fault they have mobility difficulties. Parents have arms and legs and prams and buggies - get out and walk like everybody else. I like the idea of dedicated parent spots away from the main entrance but next to a fenced off walkway - that way they have safety for the children but more of the entrance adjacent spots are available for the genuinely disabled. No doubt flak will stream toward me, but before complaining about lack of access to the convenient parking spaces, justify why you should take priority over the disabled people or indeed those of us with no kids but a need to shop.
  23. Leave it Carnelli, leave it. The CSI boys and girls will always suss you out, those flash light thingies make any blood and stuff go all shiny, even after you have bleached the bath.
  24. We are not actually broke. You want broke, go to Bangladesh or Ethiopia, thats broke. We still live in a wealthy liberal democracy. The financial issues that we have are more to do with economic policy than they are to do with wealth or the lack thereof.
