  1. Marvellous Mathilda, it will be lovely to see you. Mr Mathilda on child-minding duties I assume? Good man him. It is this Wednesday curry lovers. Who will be joining us? 7.15 ish in the Actress for a sharpener and then on to Swadesh at 8ish.
  2. The blessed Dulwichmum has returned to us. Clearly out early for "good" behaviour. No doubt the Dulwich Dungeon and Tea Rooms will soon be re-opened for the Gentry.
  3. I think you missed a trick. The Goose Green Fair would have been an ideal opportunity to sell cat-skin hats and coats. Never mind, next year...
  4. "Where is the shooting club based?" "I voted No" "The Conservative Club is THE place to be seen" "ED, a fantastic place for Plane spotters to live" "I hate buses, they are so common"
  5. Thanks Angela. I hope that our feedback was taken in the constructive spirit that it was given in. Specifically: "Festival Fair" doesnt mean alot if you dont know about/arent that interested in the Dulwich Festival - "Goose Green Fair" has more resonance to the people of East Dulwich, and "Goose Green Fair" is what it is known as by the local people who you want to visit the Fair It does seem odd that there was no physical promotion of the Fair around ED or even Goose Green ie.a few posters and a banner in the same manner that the Nunhead Cemetary Open Day has been promoted The mix of stalls might be broadened out The Fair was a great success, thats not to say that taking on board the views of the local residents wouldnt make it even better next year.
  6. The Fair was good fun, loads of stalls, kids having a ball and great music courtesy of Sue and "The Goose is Out". Well done one and all; but, next time - a bit more promotion beforehand please?

  8. There is a great big poster on the Goose Green fence promoting the ..... "Nunhead Cemetry Open Day"; nothing about the Goose Green Fair. What communication I have seen has been strangely oblique with invitations to follow links to the Dulwich Festival. Otherwise some people with stalls at the Fair have been gamely posting threads but little (that is obvious) from the organisers. Why not promote the Goose Green Fair openly and clearly? It seems odd - we do want it to be a success, dont we?
  9. ........ you wouldnt know it though. No posters up and nothing substantial on this Forum. A bit of an effort would be useful!! It has always been good fun.
  10. The experience of the Curry Club is that there is little difference between any of the ED curry houses. Everybody has their own favourites. It is useful to remember that most "Indians" are run by Bangladeshi people and it is good to see that many are now providing food that reflects their own cultures rather than the traditional "Indish" fare scoffed by millions on a Saturday night. Off the Lane, Ganapati of Belenden is very good and provides South Indian food with a regularly refreshed menu. Swadesh is one of the newest on the Lane and does very well, Curry Cabin and the Mirash are my favourites. Come along to the Curry Club and try them, we meet every month, usually on the 3rd week of the month. I bring the thread up a week or so beforehand and you can find it through the Search function.
  11. Well, it depends on where we are going. This Curry Club started as a result of long debates about which curry house was the best on the Lane. Therefore each month we go to a different place. Any attempt at reviews has long since passed. Now we just get together and have some curry based fun. Normally we meet at about 7.15 at a convenient pub - EDT, The Actress and so on; and then head off for the meal at 8ish. We try and go in the 3rd week of the month and each month we go on a different day of the week - thus nobody with a set commitment loses out. That said - we have no venue for next month. Where to folks?
  12. It is open to all Charlotte. You would be most welcome.
  13. Excellent evening thanks to all who turned up. Nice to meet somebody's new young gentleman friend ;) Next CC meet is on Wednesday 18 May. Any preferences as to where?
  14. Afine turn-out. Mr Lurker - I will expect to see you. You may be demotivated to Junior Member with reduction of rights and privelidges.
  15. Tuesday everybody. Could people confirm if they are coming? I suggest we meet at the EDT at 7.15 and on to Mirash at 8.
  16. That isn't muttering. That is Brummigam spake, ay it our kid.
  17. Nine days to go curry lovers. All welcome.
  18. Yes!
  19. This is one of those that are nice but not necessary. Some public contribution is fine when the coffers are brimming but not when cuts are being made to core services. Scale back the event and encourage more market stall holders to generate income, get some sponsorship and focus on what can be done with what could be available.
  20. A strong argument for a strip joint in the Lordship Lane police station.
  21. "Oh sh*t!" *Hides historic Dulwichmum Special edition of Razzle down side of chair*
  22. *Aims the Official Blunderbuss at the Winking intruder* *There will be a discharge at any moment*
  23. Is this like money for old rope, except different?
