  1. Omrith is indeed in that direction, past the Herne on Forest Hill Road, its next door to the Forest Hill Tavern. Omrith
  2. That would be my suggestion. Make sure you get a ticket that allows you to travel on bith Thames Link and Southern trains though, they both go to Gatwick and you can buy a ticket that lets you use both services.
  3. Th Green has a spring fayre which has grown year on year. The Forum had an informal picnic last year which was fun, not so much fun if it rains, in which case buy your Chilli Pepper Pete supplies, have a quick trot round in the mud and retire to the EDT. Si Mangia on Peckham Rye/Forest Hill Rd is a good Tratoria, Blue and Green - good for wine and nibbles, North Cross Road market is great ... and soooo many curry restaurants.
  4. A garlic chicken will calm you both :)
  5. monica Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi all going to have cancel Palmerston, really > sorry. Hopefully you all have a nice Valentines.xx I think Monica has pulled and will be joining the couples on V-day. Tsk.
  6. David Carnell = "Huh? But it seemed like such good value. What with that and the Danny Dyer box-set I've bought for "'er indoors" I thought I'd be a shoe-in. It costs ?15 at Waitrose for the same combo....do you think that would do the trick? Money talks, right?" Get yourself to M&S and shell out the full ?20 you cheap-skate. Your beloved is surely worth a bottle of M&S Cava?
  7. Omrith has been suggested - we havent been for a year.
  8. Lets go for 23rd Feb. Where do people fancy? Somewhere we havent been for a while.
  9. It could be worse - your loved one could by you the Morrisons meal deal for Valentines day - nasty soup, nasty pasta, nasty pudding, nasty wine - all for ?8. That should do you.
  10. Oy! Rosie "I used to be single but I aint no more" H - go and find your own loved up thread. This is for those of us who are single and gloomy. I may well also have a horrible tooth ache if Kings dont do the business tomorrow AND I discovered that one of my "I'm a single young woman and enjoying it" colleagues has been secretly loved up for the past 18 months. Splitter. I may just open my veins. Briefly. Alternatively, where are we meeting for this drink? I will need some anaesthetic in a number of ways.
  11. British Museum too, if nothing else, we could flog the contents.
  12. Sloppy sexual intercourse? Now that really is a bridge too far. You'll be believing in the female orgasm next.
  13. Half hearted intercourse on a full stomach when you could be watching the rugby.
  14. Dont listen to these pontificating nay-sayers, that Sean McGabadene may not have a microwave, but he does eat cold Heinz beans straight from the tin. Microwaves are great for de-frosting and reheating and cooking veg, rice and other simple stuff. My experience is that the super dooper groovy ones with lots of buttons to press are a waste of money. Buy one with 2 dials - one for the power level and one for the time, thats all you will need. Cost about ?30 to ?40, brand names make little difference.
  15. Gooin right round the Wrekin = taking too long to do something Taking Effies piece = taking too larger a share, after Aunt Effie who did that very thing with cake You'll be killed to djeth = the danger of doing something dangerous That wo get the babbie bathed = obvious really Stuffed as a tunkey pig = full I could eat a scabbie 'oss = hungry We 'ad a bostin' time = we had a good time Its bost = its broken Stop yaour blartin' = stop crying Am yow courtin' that wench? = are you stepping out with that young lady? Aright Chick? = How are you? (female said to male, often Barmaid to punter shortly before serving a point of the moild) The Bogey 'ole = The understairs storage facility
  16. Was that Smudger involved? He never showed last night ...
  17. Did he actually go to Peckham? He seems to have completely missed the vibrant African, largely evangelical Christian population that has a high profile on Rye Lane. I havent seen much in the way of Islamic oppression of women on Rye Lane, but I have seen a box of giant edible snails for sale; shame those dont get a mention. If he heard Middle Eastern music, that would have been Asian music from those shops run by Asians. "Peckham Rye" is a large and rather pleasent park is it not? With a lively population of Green Parakeets that also dont get a mention.
  18. On a practical note - how do you sit comfortably, look at the screen and type, without getting a sore back and cricked neck? There will no doubt be handy plug-ins, such as a keyboard and screen stand. At which point you might as well have bought a laptop at a quarter of the price.
  19. Arse, cant make it...
  20. Mucky does Pilots. Surprised? ;-)
  21. A good time had by all and thanks to Swadesh for the free post prandials. Good to see Brum and Mucky who popped in after their yoga class ::o
  22. The discussion on Today this morning was that it could be 2012 before the economy is back to the size it was prior to the recession. For us down here, I suspect that the improvement will be felt quicker. Sadly the Midlands and North will take longer to re-bound.
  23. Franklins Bar for a sharpener at about 7.15pm and then Swadesh for about 8pm
